4 1/2 years later and this is still the best portaband hack video on RUclips. You're on another level, Jimmy.
I think one of the most important factors in creating a good youtube video, is the angles. This is especially true in videos of making things, and you Mr. Diresta, excel at setting up your shots for being able to see what is being done. Thank you for doing what you do, I am always excited to see a new video posted from you!
It's a joy to watch someone who obviously has made a living being productive. There is no wasted motion and every move is almost choreographed. My dad was like that. It is also nice to see a youtube guy not use a hammer by the middle of the handle. Thank you Jimmy.
JBratt thank you !!
JBratt Excellent point!
...was soll ich sagen, was nicht schon bereits von hunderten anderen gesagt worden ist? You are one of the best makers, Jimmi DIRESTA
Very cool modification. It would be nice if manufactures made an aftermarket upgrade like this. It would make these portable band saws so much more useful. Great job Jimmy.
I really like the cnc stuff, but I think what makes this channel/your work outstanding is that you did this stuff without any cnc and I believe that you should keep doing so.
This is the coolest product idea I've seen you build just in terms of functionality. A lot of fabricators would buy one of these. If it could be done from all sheet goods and bent on a brake, cost would be really reasonable.
The thing I've always liked about Jimmy, is that he wants his projects to be interesting AND functional.......
was a bit disappointed it wasn't a bandsaw box love watching your woodworking videos Jimmy but after watching you built this I immediately wasn't disappointed anymore you do some great work the cogs in your head must be spinning some crazy speeds
That lil bandsaw has done a bucket load of stuff. Great augment Mr. Diresta.
slick build! that trigger wedge = genius.
haha i most proud of the trigger wedge!
You jerks made me scan through the video again for that.
7.35
I have a portaband stand. The manufacturer recommends using a zip tie. I like the trigger wedge idea a lot better!
Jimmy I've never touched a welder in my life but it's very cool watching you work. Thanks!
DiResta strikes again with an ingenious build! Thanks for the video.
Hey Jimmy, I just wanted to thank you for the content you upload. An even bigger thank you for sharing the unorthodox techniques you use. I always get held up on "what's the 'right' way to do this?" I admire the courage it takes to post something that ruffles feathers of viewers opinions on the "correct" way to build things. Way to be!
How To Jake thank you !
Bloody brilliant idea mate, I'm surprised no one has come out with that. You're a bloody genius
genius, not kidding one of the smartest builds i have seen.
Software term: Bootstrapping
When you use the tool you're making to build the tool you're making.
Great job.
this is amazing Jimmy! I thought it was going to be a standard stand, then you took it up several levels with the hinged chop option. love it.
Every single video is packed full of awesome tricks. Great job Jimmy
Most people think the video is sped up so it doesn't take 2 hours to watch it, but he actually works at this speed. Amazing, isn't it ??? LOL>>>>>>
I've been pondering on how to build this exact thing for years! Thanks Jimmy! I'm going to build one for myself right now.
bro loving all the new technology mixed in with the art, endless possibilities
Been a sub for about a year now love watching your videos the things you make and restore are quality!! shout outs from the UK keep it up !!
ToxicWarlord the UK sucks
Jimmy Diresta this is genius
Also, I got my stencil, stickers, and pencils in the mail today. Already tagged my flammible cabinet and sheet metal brake. Thanks Man!
very nice,i miss the fab shop ever day im in my wood shop. metal work in my opinion is more forgiving, easier, fun, and your imagination can really shine in metal work. thanks for sharing
I am in doubt if I buy a manual saw that already has all the items that you did, base, support. Or if I buy a Torchmate® 4400 and 4800 CNC Plasma Cutting Tables, in this case, the machine, you could build a spaceship and go to Mars! hohohohoho. You are the man!!!
What an absolutely brilliant idea!!! Well done Jimmy!
This is why you are closing in on 1M!! Genius idea, great execution!!
Wow! I just got my Milwaukee band saw .
Your's just covered all the bases.Great design.
Thank you for showing the direction that I will do mine.
Thanks Sir.
Very cool design. Certainly broadens the uses and applications of the tool.
Jimmy. Great work. we are your fallower from Cali Colombia. is amazing your work. me and my son (8 years old) have seen all your videos
Alright Jimmy....
That's fuckin genius!
Maybe tack some wing nuts to those mounting screws so you don't have to always get a driver..if maybe longer screw you could tack wing nut as like a washer and still have Phillips head showing for either scenario...awesome ideas for the porta-band though...loving that torchmate...Thank You!!!
Yes for adding wing nut...thanks
I started reading some comments, but that pissed me off.
This is so bad ass Jimmy.
BAD ASS !!!!
I love you.
Thats is all.
That moment when you use your project to finish your project. Great job as always!
I know you like your bandsaws. Wow! That's a whole lot of functionality. Very very nice.
How can someone dislike something like this?
This is awesome!
This just seems so innovative... I love the idea, and execution, even if I would probably never need it.
I loved when the camera angle at 1:48 because of the light from the welding you could see where there was and wasn't gaps because the light went through the gaps of were it hadn't been welded and didn't where it had.
I just really liked seeing it that way instead of the usual where I am only able to see bright flashes of light.
Genius! Jimmy, just pure genius!
Brilliant, Jimmy! The Europeans have those smaller bandsaws that can "chop" like Laura Kampf has....you basically just took the SWAG setup to a whole new level.
Nice, Jimmy, I love your creativity. I work with a lot of the same mediums you work with, but you take it to a new level. Thanks for the inspiration.
There are a lot of elegant solutions in this video
love it Jimmy!
100% "borrowing" this idea.
Proof of concept done...take this to market! I'd buy one.
I love the overcoat smock you were wearing!! It's kinda a 50's retro mad scientist look! Also, you need to patent this and sell it as a attachment for this tool!
JIMMY. GREAT STAND!!!!! YOU MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY!!!!!
Smashed it Jimmy. Love the way you just seem to throw things together only to produce a functional piece of art. Another great video. Very inspired. Keep it up.
Awesome video you turned that machine into a little monster there. Great idea!
My favorite portable bandsaw table-conversion because of its versatility. With your design I do not have to have a dedicated saw for a table-top bandsaw.
I love the idea man. Awesome work. Love the hinge. Love the frame. Love that it isn't mirrored. Love you using Lincoln to make it. Love the weld flashes.
Seriously if you haven't got anything nice to say why be a troll.
Keep it up man. You do more making then most people out there
Great design, Jimmy, very practical. The only change I'd make would be putting your name the other way around, so it doesn't end up upside down when you're using it as a chopping saw.
Oh, and you look like a mad scientist in that white coat, I love it hahaha
Great invention Jimmy! If you try to take this to production I'm sure it'll take off, looks super useful.
Man, you never cease to impress. I'm starting to get inspired over here!
Keep up the good work!
Legend says he doesn't speed up his builds...his builds speed him up.
Such a good, simple solution. Nice work man, glad to see it completed.
the koolest bandsaw stand yet.... awesome
Finally! I've been waiting to watch you building this awesome "jig"!
You really inspire me to make things and be creative in the process, thank you for sharing your talent
Greetings from Chile
I'm pretty happy with the mount I made for mine, but I need to add that little table you made for yours! Great idea!
Holy crap Jimmy! That is awesome! One of your best yet!
This guy is a genius my friends !
verdaderamente un trabajo excelente felicidades y reciba un cordial saludo desde SAN LUIS POTOSI MEXICO.....
Great job, Jimmy! Love the multifunction nature of it. Gives the portaband a lot more versatility. Might have to make one for my Milwaukee. And while some don't like the hinge, I actually love it's simplicity and the quick change nature of the unit because of it.
One of your best yet.
Very smart design. Congratulations.
fantastic! I know you love that cutter... well both of them, what a match up. it's beautiful watching your ideas come to fruit so quickly with the right tools. and making the right tools Right with personalized JD touch.
Magnificent hack: Well thought out mods makes it look so obvious to create Better, More useful & charming personalisation. Loved it!
awesome
There's something to enjoy with this new thermal cutter
brilliant, Jimmy. I have a small Makita bandsaw. I'm going to look at creating something just for that. You have inspired me sir!
This is such a great advertisement for Lincoln. It's a shame the creativity doesn't come with the machine!
DRMNZ Don't worry about creativity. The more time you spend with building things, the more ideas you will get.
I really like this, such a great way to get more functionality out of a tool.
My only concern is cable management, though I'm not convinced you could do anything about that other than having some sort of ceiling mounted retention device that would make it more trouble than it's worth.
Brilliant. Needs to marketed.
That is unbelievably awesome!
This is absolutely brilliant and definitely something that could be worth patenting. That is to say, this is almost surely going to be mass produced in short order and if not patented, I'm not sure if any of the reputable manufactures will be part of it.
granworks You cannot patent it once it was made public.
That was what I thought for a long time, as well, but I don't believe that it's true -- at least in the US. My understanding of US patent law from a few years ago is that you have one year (12 months) in which to file a patent after a public showing. It may not be good enough to just get a US patent, though...
you never cease to blow my friggin mind!! Thank you
nice and simple but very versatile! well done
I love it. I think the design could use a little refinement, possibly make it from aluminum so it's easier to move around but I would love to dedicate one of my portaband saws to use in that jig/stand
WTF "2 weeks ago" how is that possible
abdulrhman saleh 😂😂😂😂
Privately shared, then made public
Mind blown.
Utility increased by an order of magnitude.
...at least.
I think i'm going to have to buy one now... Awesome Jimmy!!
Very nice design Jimmy, elegant.
Looks great. one idea to improve it would be a clamp or some other stop to prevent it walking while using it.
love the way you think. so many ideas...that works
Very cool idea. So versatile.
Beautiful work as always
I can see that your really having fun with this
I like the new lab coat. Very scientist of you.
I've been waiting for this all my life! Seriously, my favorite tool in the shop just got more favorite!?? You know what I mean.
Good project Jimmy, not sure about using the screws like that though, perhaps weld some nuts to the frame, more secure.
Well done Professor DiResta! Another home run. :)
it's come a long way since it's cardboard days! neat idea
Jimmy as per our conversation about the 3 way band saw stand ,I will definitely try to make one for myself .... Stay well my brother ... and...... Protect Your DIGITS..... We are both members of the "Nine and a Half Club"
I want a portable band saw.. that thing is awesomeness!
This build is genius
brilliant, as always.
uauuuu... Very Very good.... I love your Chanel .... I living in Brasil
Jimmy that is a fantastic idea. Great job.
Thanks for sharing
The hinge method at the rear leaves a lot to be desired. As I could see that alignment of the blade and the kerf of the front stop block needed fudging with every time you set it up. Eventually that zero clearance opening won't be. Then again, I realize this is for rough-ish cuts, and you probably don't care all that much.
Eco Mouse yeah, its still a portable band saw, which always would have had issues with tolerances and straight cuts so there's no real loss of function I guess
This is the best stand man! Great idea!
Genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I made similar jig/cutting frame. Didn't film it but now I'm gonna make a second one with some modification and film it!
David Lunda should have filmed through a welding screen. Cheap as chips
WoW i like it, sûre i will try to mais one for my portable bandsaw, i enjoyed sol your videos, have à Nice day from province of Quebec, Canada
