The story is for me is outstanding and touching, and has one of the greatest soundtracks in a game I've ever heard. One of the best action adventure games I've ever played. • @nolankuffner3573
      @nolankuffner3573 3 года назад +4

@@RyuHayabusa06 in that respect, I see it as he still knows how to swing his sword, it's more his adaptability that you're experiencing with his leveling up.
Which is why he's still not 'robust' like Dogi.
      Example:
A millipede is different from an ant and an ant is different from a mantis.
If one of those bugs attacked in a way that he wasn't expecting, it would make him look weaker.
But once you've gotten used to the controls, you'd be able to avoid every one of those attacks and strike faster.
Some people play Ys at a low level because they don't need to level much.
Some over level because their reaction time is slower.
Realistically, when you consider those differences in species, and that the story is written from a powerful weapon trumps brute strength perspective, it kinda makes sense.
Though, with the relics, I always assumed Adol just returned them to the native peoples.

im in the final chapter now and its amazing, gameplay, story, music, speaking of music they should have made an option to change the battle and boss music to previous ys games for nostalgia, vacant interference from ys7 is still my favorite boss music.

For me I think in future games I'm really going to miss the "Gifts" in the next installment. Even just being able to run up walls was a game changer for this series. I also agree that even though it starts out with the impression of being a very "dark" game with the red moons, gothic style, and the Lemures in the Grimwald being a tad frightening at first, but this game really lightens up as you get to know the people and explore the world and as usual Adol brings everyone together and things become really lighthearted.

Im 21 hours in and loving the game. The gameplay is top notch and traversing the city is amazing. This is a slow burn of a game, takes a while to get going but once it starts rolling its pure class. Some of those boss battles are jaw dropping. Ys is a superb series which you have got me hooked on and for that I'm eternally grateful.

I started playing ys viii after your recommendation. I hated it and gave up on the game multiple times. Then I think somewhere around chapter 2 something clicked and I started getting the game. From Chapter 3, the game got addictive. Thanks for sharing your passion for the games on RUclips. It's enough to see someone passionate about games talking about it to make my day.

I just finished it and agree with all your points! The island mystery of Ys 8 just was so special and unique, and the slightly better music just puts it above 9 for me. That said, I really loved 9 and loved additions of the character abilities!

The reason the balduq city is good is because you get to know it bit by bit for every chapter. The fact that it is blocked off and not "open world" is what made the progression good. It's a fantastic design choice that is fantastically implemented and supports both the story and the characters. It synergises so freaking well - that is part of what makes ys 9 so darn good. It's how the small bits magically comes together to create a greater sum. I am 100% sure anyone who loves jrpgs and rates ff7 and botw and such games as their favourites will love ys 9 like i did.

Wow, I can agree like 100% with your opinion. Maybe the best Ys story so far, but there is so much dialogue (especially optional NPC dialogue) which really kills the pacing. It almost feels like a Trails game, but that's not what Ys should be about in my opinion.
Next on please an Ys 5 remake, Adol all alone in a more like Felghana game would be awesome.

This was my first Y's game. I find it pretty relaxing. I play it while listening to music or lectures. The graphics were solid enough. But most importantly there was nothing really annoying about it. I thought I'd love FF7 remake, but I ended up hating it. It's too self important. This isn't. This is the opposite.

Quick Tips: play all Ys games from I through VIII before starting IX. If you're already beat IX, then play I through IX (if you haven't already). Seriously, IX is a personal experience for Ys vets, while VIII is like the "Final Fantasy VII" or "Tales of Symphonia" or "Dragon Quest VIII" of Ys franchise; it is the gateway for those who wants to start getting into Ys series nowadays

I need to get back to this game. I barely played the English version since release because I was already pretty far in my Japanese play through even though I have no idea what’s really going on in the story. I’ve still been playing that. The gameplay loop feels like an Ys game and you can muddle through and figure out what all the systems are without a translation. Open the map, go to the exclamation point, watch a cutscene and kill whatever is there waiting for you pretty much. Upgrade your gear in your base, etc. Not sure how I feel about all the different vendors spread out everywhere offering different items/materials vs most Ys games where there’s pretty much a main shop or two. I agree that the music is a little less impressive compared to Ys 8. Sometimes it’s a little generic and fades into the background. Really liking Ys 9 so far. Can’t wait to get back to playing the English translation.
