I have visited the property back in 2017 on a work trip from DXB, and (as an avgeek) I absolutely loved the view of the airfield, a view very similar to yours btw. I stayed at the Andaz earlier this year, and I absolutely had one of my best stays at a hotel! My room was facing the runway, and I was mostly glued to the sofa for that reason, but even then the rest of the service and amenities were top notch. If I am recollecting correctly, the only non-functioning thing in my room was the HDMI cable haha. That said, it was a fairly expensive at ~ $300, but for the experience, I think it was worth it in my opinion. Also, the gripe about the location is understandable for some, but at the same time there's an Aerocity metro station a couple hundred metres out, with connections to pretty much every corner of the capital. if you're looking for some overrated hotels to review, might I suggest some of the Marriott group ones in Kolkata or even Delhi.
Hopefully the Andaz isn’t the hotel that sets the tone for the whole India series! Love the honesty in your review. As I look to plan trips in the future, I always try to reference your videos. Will be in Vietnam soon in Nov for 2.5 weeks. Any must stays in Hanoi or SGN from you or the viewers will be much appreciated!
I'd have given it a 60/100. Apart from the food(which seemed good enough), the rest of the hotel looked very corporate and had nothing to do with local art and culture! It is perfect for a Hyatt Regency but never an Andaz
Based on my original idea of what Andaz was meant to be, I would agree... but my Andaz experiences are getting more and more corporate in general so... perhaps my expectations were already a bit restrained on that front.
I visited this hotel a few months ago everything was right on spot except about the service, I felt it was good enough. I had end of the runway view and didn't know how time went by observing airplanes. Unlike Regent Taipei review in this video somehow negatives overshadowed positives. You gave 83/100 so I think the hotel shouldn't be that bad
Andaz hotel is located in aerocity, so any knowledgable traveller would know thats its an airport hotel and not a luxury hotel. Further nobody claimed aerocity is an actual city. Its a hospitality and commercial district located within Delhi Airport. Also, Gurgaon is not a district of Delhi, but of Haryana.
Hmm, where to begin lol. Feels like you just wanted to write some stuff. 1. I literally said it's an airport hotel, that was the entire point of the video- countless publications are the ones that said it's a luxury hotel. 2. I never said someone claimed Aerocity was a city... except for the fact that it's named, Aero...city- and I went on to further define it exactly as you have. 3. The capital district I was referring to, the NCR, includes part of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan as defined by the National Capital Region Planning Board. I think you need a hug.
@@tfft 1. Ok. Agree that there are publications mentioning it as a luxury hotel. But then atleast a person like you should know that its not as you have visited many luxury hotels. 2. If you described it later exactly as what I said, then why create confusion in the first place. 3. You never mentioned NCR in your video. You clearly said capital district which is Delhi not NCR. 4. If according to you I just want to write some stuff, then maybe you just want to make a video. 5. No thank you, I dont need a hug Mr Nit picker. Enjoy your stay in India and keep complaining as always about everything. Hope you earn a lot of money and one one day you can open an airline or hotel chain of your own. Maybe then you will know whats its like to run a business. And maybe then some youtuber will rant on your business. Ciao 👋

I just knew you were going to mention that dodgy wooden floor. Carpet would be way better. But the view is excellent as is the completely complimentary minibar and that book! Very nice👌

Yeah, it wasn't really meant to be a warm and fuzzy video this time around lol- but still something that is more and more prevalent with each day and should be talked about more so consumers can make better, informed decisions about how they're spending their money. Thanks for watching 🩴
I love your videos. This is the first one where I hear you, but somewhat disagree. I've stayed at this hotel a few times. First in 2017, shortly after it opened. 2018 and in 2019. The first time I stayed here, I was WOWED by how awesome it was (especially compared to other Delhi 5-star hotels). Newness had a lot to do with it I'm sure. It was super clean at least between 2017 - 2019. After the pandemic, like a lot of places, I'm sure contributed to many things mentioned in your video. The staff, service, and food were phenomenal back then. I had zero issues (a rarity in India). I love India, but you get use to certain ways at hotels. Not at the Andaz. As pitch-perfect as the Four Seasons in Mumbai. Back in 2018, the floorboards were an issue, but passable ;-) On one visit I stayed at the Le Meridien in Delhi and left my suitcases there while I headed out of town, to return a week later. I decided to return to the Andaz, and they sent a car to pick up my luggage, at no charge. Honestly, at least back then I could not say enough about them. I should mention, unlike now, I had no status with Hyatt, but had 2000 nights in hotels in general, so no newbie to the hotel scene. It was nice to see your review and reminisce about my stays at this Andaz, and the airport views were lovely. One reason I along with others pick this location over the CBD area. Easier to just endure traffic to/from Delhi, and then back to a more peaceful location close to the airport. No one-hour drive to DEL before a flight. The hotels in this area are popular for a reason. The Taj Santa Cruz in Mumbai has stunning airport views. The absolute best, where the bed faces the window and you just lay in bed and watch planes depart. Based upon your video, the rooms seem to be in great condition for a hotel of 8 years in India. I look forward to my return visit.

Loved the video. Can’t say much about the hotel. The room looks like a glorified Holiday Inn ! The INDIA plane that is there in the video is a VVIP aircraft, India’s AirForce One .
Kevin, did you see the new 50 Best Hotels list? I love their 50 Best Bars and Restaurants lists, they're very well done and respected in our industries, but I'm an outsider when it comes to hotels... was wondering if you've been to any of the hotels on the list or have any plans to visit them? Cheers
I think the Hotel list is a valient effort, but the list itself seems skewed in a very specific direction which I think comes down to the relatively small voting pool. They have 580 people from the industry voting to select 50 hotels world wide... that just seems like a very small pool to me. Plus, each of the 9 regional chairs that have been appointed to select the pool for their respective region all work for or recently have worked for major travel publications that publish the sponsored type of content that I went on about in this video. So, trying not to be an absolute cynic, I'd say it's probably as informed as a list could possibly get from what I can see, but- I just wish ALL of the voting panel wasn't selected by executives at publications that have direct financial ties with the hotels themselves. As for the list itself, yes I've been to a few on the list, the Four Seasons Bangkok and Capella Bangkok already being on the channel with a few more on the way. Thanks for the question!
Except for some niche circumstances, value oriented hotels simply don't attract a large enough audience to justify the time/money investment to make the videos. Of course everything is relative, but I personally love me some good three and four star hotels, but when we're talking about ~$70/night price tags, consumers generally don't feel the need to extensively research the choice beforehand- based on my metrics at least. Thanks for watching 🩴
Aerocity hotels are used for MICE events and Weddings mostly - where the host or company picks up the tab. Leads to rough use of the rooms. After numerous stays, this particular hotel i feel in order to retain the brand 'quirkiness', misses getting the basics right!
Am working on finishing the India playlist before going on or going back. Wow, that was an underwhelming hotel. Long long ago, I used to overnight in the hotel at the Ohare in Chicago when traveling from HKG to SAT. Don't ask, I just hate LAX and SFO. Was there so often, the bellmen would see me coming with a porter from the airport across the road, and would run out to help. Small woman, lots of large luggage= big tip. It was and probably still is an airport hotel. Clean, amazingly quiet and sooooo convenient. Made the trip 4 or 5 times a year.
Underwhelming for an Andaz, but at the end of the day, it's a pretty nice airport hotel. Only problem is no one told Andaz's marketing team that it's indeed just an airport hotel lol.
99% of the time it's 1x. The only exception is generally when I'm filming aircraft, usually in trip reports. Rarely a 0.5x shot of a business class seat if the lighting is good enough. Can I ask why you ask? lol
Thank you for giving a s**t about my hard-earned money! BTW, will you be reviewing the Andaz Singapore any time soon? I'm worried about my money after watching the previous Andaz review on your channel, Gangnam, and now this Delhi one.
I don't have anything from Singapore coming in the next year or so. My guess is that the Singapore property- given its stature in the Andaz portfolio- would be a beautiful hotel, but I can definitely understand your hesitation. Thanks for watching 🩴
Yup! And sometimes it feels like it discredits the good things when you feel like they're (overly) trying to get you to notice them. Thanks for watching 🩴
We will be staying here on our first night ... it's convenient as we arrive late. Not expecting luxury (we are staying at Oberois and Taj for that) ... just safety on our first night in India. This is our first time in India. Just wondering if you tried the fresh fruits and whether or not they are safe to eat? Thank you so much for the review.
@@tfft Even at the luxury hotels like Oberois and Taj ? I am just wondering if we should try even the chutney and fresh sauces in these hotels? Thank you for your reply.
Disappointing as Andaz is my favorite part of the Hyatt portfolio, but seemed like legitimate grievances. On the flip side they aren't charging what it would cost to stay at the Andaz in Tokyo or Singapore either.
On the flip side of the flip side, I'd say that the pricing at the Tokyo (especially Tokyo) and Singapore properties are batting a bit above Andaz's level lol.
@@tfft that is wild! I had no idea. I’ve got to start paying more attention to the world. Anyway, thanks for making your videos. You create some of the best hotel travel videos I’ve seen on RUclips.
I think you are missing some background on how these "global" hotel chains operate in India. I know this from my ex who was a Thai chef in one of these branded "luxury" hotels. So all these franchises are operated thru shell companies of politicians who flush out (an in) funds which they can't explain. The franchise company contract expects a bare minimum standard. Hence you'd see a level of "luxury" but there will be stark difference from what you'd see from seasoned hotel operators like those you mentioned- Oberois, Taj group(they're going downhill as well) etc.
Sounds like a disgruntled ex-chef to be honest lol. But either way, I'm not missing anything- I'm well aware of how the hotel industry works- but I don't think who/what/where/when/why/how a property is owned is relevant for a review in the vast majority of cases. I comment of my experience versus my expectations, not much more.
Tbh, it's one of the weakest hotels in Delhi, The Roseate is aging with room interiors falling apart, The Lodhi used to be the very first urban Aman before they gave it back to DLF and went downhill from there. Oberoi is definitely really nice, they went under a massive $100 million renovation, I'd say the best Delhi has to offer, Taj Mahal Delhi also went under renovation and the Taj Palace is still in the process.
Out of the 14 more you are converting, I really really hope you are covering Oberoi Udaivilas, would love to see your take on it. Also, there are now two six senses properties one in the hills Vana and the other one in Rajasthan. Other boutique local brands are Sujan, Postcard, Kahani Paradise, RAAS lesser known but unique. Super excited to have you here, looking forward to your honest opinion.
@@tfft Oh thanks for that, amazing picks. I think you had a not so good experience at Udaivilas, I didn't visit that property post the GM change, Mr. Amit was heading it earlier. I would be very disappointed if one of my fav creators was let down by them. Will stop bothering you now, Looking forward to the videos.
What do you expect from India hospitality and service? Nothing has changed in the last 50 years. I give very honest reviews when I stay in the hotel even to the point the management begs me to remove my reviews 😂
Just saw this and am LMAO at all the paid reviews you quoted. NO ONE in Delhi will rank Andaz in the same league as Oberoi or Taj (Mahal). I wish you’d have stayed at those instead - next time?
Oh how I wish you didn’t listen to those reviews and went to the Oberoi, Taj, Leela or the Imperial Instead 😂 I wouldn’t even place this hotel as a top 10 in Delhi.

Oberoi in Delhi for me. Fantastic property. Stayed there last week.
I have a couple Oberois coming soon! Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfft one regret is that I didn’t go to Oberoi Amarvilas which I see is one of your forthcoming videos. Can’t wait to see this
Am working on finishing the India playlist before going on or going back.
LOL the opening was fire.
😇 Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Great channel, thanks.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Amazing Work
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Random queestion, but what zoom setting do you use when filming?
99% of the time it's 1x. The only exception is generally when I'm filming aircraft, usually in trip reports. Rarely a 0.5x shot of a business class seat if the lighting is good enough. Can I ask why you ask? lol
@@tfft why not? kidding, i'm hoping to start making tavel content (which is a ironic cos i rarely travel lol)
Here's my guess at the mystery resort: The Regent in Phu Quoc
✅
Loved your rant. There is so much non-sense in those reviews even if the hotel was indeed very good
Yup! And sometimes it feels like it discredits the good things when you feel like they're (overly) trying to get you to notice them. Thanks for watching 🩴
I'm a little surprised that you didn't see Sam Chui wandering about with his entourage.
...why? lol
Edible fruit in and of itself can never be unsafe to eat, it's about anything and everything that might touch that fruit. Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfft Even at the luxury hotels like Oberois and Taj ? I am just wondering if we should try even the chutney and fresh sauces in these hotels? Thank you for your reply.
Air India One spotted @ 12:47 @tfft
Thanks for watching 🩴
Airport hotel indeed! 🙂
Thanks for watching 🩴
".....especially this hotel." LMAO Savage XD
Kinda disappointing to see such a gap between marketing and reality though :(
Was hoping someone would catch that haha. Thanks for watching 🩴
Thank you

Disappointing as Andaz is my favorite part of the Hyatt portfolio, but seemed like legitimate grievances. On the flip side they aren't charging what it would cost to stay at the Andaz in Tokyo or Singapore either.
On the flip side of the flip side, I'd say that the pricing at the Tokyo (especially Tokyo) and Singapore properties are batting a bit above Andaz's level lol.
Really disappointed that you missed The Oberoi!
Have multiple Oberois coming up!
McDonald’s has jeans as part of their uniform?? When did I that happen? Did I miss it?
On and off in some markets around the globe, yes.
The position of that bed is triggering my OCD really badly
And the floor boards didn’t? 😅 Thanks for watching 🩴
That's not OCD, more like not maintained well
I meant the fact that the boards aren’t evenly spaced 😉
Aiaiai I didn't notice that. Thought they did that on purpose, being creative and all that
Oh my god i love your sass please keep it up
Lmao, for sure.
You spotted air india one prime minister's plane
Yup!
The reviews😂😂😂... Built up karma release😂😂
I try lol
Hi Kevin I know you like beef rendang , do you like Indian cuisine as well?
Love it!
Good. to the point review. I would like to meet and speak with you sometime. I live in Gurgaon (Delhi/NCR). In case you are here please let me know.
Thanks for watching 🩴
Bro Aero City is a red flag for me :( Aero City’s purpose is to cater to the airport hotels.
Thanks for watching 🩴
wat'da! ahaha 😂 _love story_ 🤣
😉
Tbh, it's one of the weakest hotels in Delhi, The Roseate is aging with room interiors falling apart, The Lodhi used to be the very first urban Aman before they gave it back to DLF and went downhill from there. Oberoi is definitely really nice, they went under a massive $100 million renovation, I'd say the best Delhi has to offer, Taj Mahal Delhi also went under renovation and the Taj Palace is still in the process.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
Out of the 14 more you are converting, I really really hope you are covering Oberoi Udaivilas, would love to see your take on it.
Also, there are now two six senses properties one in the hills Vana and the other one in Rajasthan.
Other boutique local brands are Sujan, Postcard, Kahani Paradise, RAAS lesser known but unique.
Super excited to have you here, looking forward to your honest opinion.
@chaitanyachoudhary1729 All of my upcoming India hotels can be seen scrolling back on my Community tab.
You sould lovely lol
欢迎来到神奇的印度
Thanks for watching 🩴
Just saw this and am LMAO at all the paid reviews you quoted. NO ONE in Delhi will rank Andaz in the same league as Oberoi or Taj (Mahal). I wish you’d have stayed at those instead - next time?
Well, I have like 20 India hotel and resort videos on the channel lol
So hotel reviews is just similar as movie reviews. lol
Are they? Idk, I'm not much of a movie guy haha. Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfft there are movies that are overhype though. love your videos. Ive been to Hansar Bangkok. love that hotel
Honestly, jeans, flipflops and spoosebeaters (aka tank tops) are not suitable attire for 5 star hotel employees
Unless working at the pool, I'd agree lol.
Decent transient hotel, I guess 🤷🏻♂️
Sums up my sentiment as well lol. Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfftgreat, honest review as always 😊
Delhi has a very good hotel selection but there are hotels far better than Andaz like IE; Taj Palace Delhi.
Not debating that, and the Andaz wasn't the only hotel in Delhi that I stayed in. Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfft Oh that’s great I love your presence in South Asia especially india cannot wait for more videos including ones in Jaipur.
Oh how I wish you didn’t listen to those reviews and went to the Oberoi, Taj, Leela or the Imperial Instead 😂 I wouldn’t even place this hotel as a top 10 in Delhi.
No one said this is the only hotel in Delhi I stayed in 😉 Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfftOh I know you stayed at the Leela also and possibly others 😜 Next time you’re in Delhi, try visiting Oberoi Gurgaon. Its a fantastic property.
: ) always wanted a faceless vlog
better than yes theory. thanks for sharing the required info and not pointing the obvious / senseless stuff.
