RAROTONGA EST une belle île ainsi que ces alentours j;y ai vécu magnifique la vie est faite de bons et de malchance je n'y suis pas resté mais ce sera toujours une île marqué dans mon coeur
25 years have passed since I was on the island of Rarotonga with 11 other UCLA students for the 6th Pacific Arts Festival. This video brought me back, so much so that I could almost feel the breeze and smell the fragrance of the tipani (plumeria) flowers.
I went in 2004 with my high school Farrington High School. I was in Farrington's Hawaiian Academy which was referred to as a school within a school. Meaning everyone in the academy was also in the school's Hawaiian club, attended some of the same classes, had it's own field trips and in this case traveled to a different country for a cultural exchange. We were hosted by a dance troupe and to say that they treated us like family is a huge understatement. We hosted them a few months later when they came here for the world fire knife dance championship. What was cool was that the current world champion - his brother became champ that year if I remember correctly - was part of the troupe that hosted us. I made friends over there who I will never forget. Not to mention the beauty of the place. Even the food was unforgettable. And I love that they are so strong in their culture. Right down to the school bell. I don't know if you got to visit any of the schools but instead of a ringing school bell somebody will come outside and play a tuere, which is a polynesian percussion instrument. And they grow up knowing about their language and culture, which is unfortunately is a struggle here in Hawaii so to see their culture thriving made me very happy. Anyway sorry for the long comment. I miss that place and it's people. I couldn't stop crying when it was time for me to come home.
@@jackass123491 Kia orana! What lovely words and glad to hear you enjoyed visiting my home country and had a wonderful experience. I chuckled at your school bell reference. At my old school they used the conch shell lol. I grew up in Aitutaki, not sure if you ever got to visit and not being biased, but way prettier than Rarotonga lol. I'm glad you got to experience a glimpse of the island way of life then, which I fear is slowly but gradually being eroded by globalization...like everywhere else. Would love to one day visit the Aloha State! My older brother studied there at BYU...
I was so impressed of the Cookislanders peoples soul and faith. The most honest, friendliest and loveliest people I´ve ever met. their faces, their soul, their spirits and their believes represent the sun. Until today the most heart touching people I.ve experienced in my whole life. These people are blessed from God and they bless life and God in their deeply believe to the good. They are light in these evil dark times. Thank you my beloved Cookislanders and Polynesians and please, carry on this wonderful way of life. We need you!. When I'm listening your music it touches me watering my eyes and getting a feeling of happiness. In great appreciation. Nice to meet you has a very deep sense here. I think you can't really describe this sound of feeling in my heart.
