  • Would you have ever guessed that the Sky Scourge archetype are actually based on Final Fantasy? Pretty clever use of source material in my opinion. Yugioh continues to prove time and time again that they have the best lore in card games. Are you willing to wait until 2035 for the next wave of in-archetype support for these guys?

      That’s interesting, I didn’t come across that anywhere. I tried putting it in the translator and it came back with nothing so I figured the one thing I did find about it online must have been correct. I appreciate you correcting me!

      @@libertaliagamesupply762 The "machine" pun could also probably be intentionnal but "shin" is a word consistantly used as a term for god/divine in the wonderfull world of anime.

      @@libertaliagamesupply762 I won't pretend I m an expert but they re words that are used so often its hard to forget.
      An exemple of of the word shin used is jikaishin translated to timelord in tcg
      Ji : shork for jikan = time
      kai : short for kikai = machine
      shin =god
      jikaishin = time machine god
      This game just love using term like that because it sounds cool.
      But just because I know what a name means translated doesn't mean i know the whole story behind it.
      I didn't know the sky scourge were based on ship from final fantasy nor the details about said ships and that s how watching your videos are actually helping me seeing there s more behind a name than just sounding cool or have some kind of religious reference and whatnot.

      @@drearydoll6305 These monsters have gears in the background, clearly meant as a reference to their machine nature. So it's probably a double meaning as sky demon god machines. Many literally works depict gods and deities as being non biological machines. Probably a reference to Neon Genesis Evangelion somewhere in there as well. Cidhels looks a lot like the mass produced Eva at the end of the series. Oh and their designs resemble the shinigami from Death Note.
      So they're mechanical demon gods in reference to Evangelion with designs of shinigami from Death Note bearing names of FF3 airship. The fact there's 4 of them could also be a reference to the 4 fiends that show up in FF3.
      There's also some kind of gate in the background of each of them. Can't help but see this gate as the door of alchemy from FMA.
