Love how hulk gets stronger as the fight goes on to the point the Gorilla realises it has no chance and gives up. Even gets back in the cage and closes the door itself.

This whole scene portrays gorillas as unpredictable and prone to violent behavior, and chimpanzees as the little docile primates. 180 degrees the opposite of the truth! Gorillas are docile creatures and chimpanzees are monsters in adulthood which can never be trusted!

A series with emotional impact. It's the exploration of a hero character made at its finest. No hundreds of explosions one after the other, no empty and exaggerated battling, effects or CGI. Human emotions mixed within the essence of what a fantastic hero is: incredible, but not futile. No stupid punchlines to make teenagers shiver here and there, nor simply an "action guy". At the end, it's really just " a guy". This show is one of the best hero adaptations for such reasons. It has real depth and it's a real piece of art. The credits song still makes the heart feel the character's pain to this day.

If he hadn't been drugged, that gorilla would probably have submitted once he got tossed on his ass. There was an incident where a guy was attacked by an adult chimpanzee, so the guy took a big branch and knocked the chimp on his ass. After that, the chimp immediately gave up and wouldn't even make eye contact.
This is the real incredible hulk, one of the best series of the 70's and 80's I started watching from the 80's,
The Hulk, the Duke Boys, Buck Rogers... we had it all!
This fight between the Hulk and the gorilla is collassal! Everything about it is dramatic,the tension David showed being trapped in the cage with Elliot and the way he was tossing David around until the Hulk arrived!! The Hulk picking Elliot up along with the broken tree limb was too cool and how they traded their throwing battle objects! Love how Elliot acknowledged i had enough by going back into his cage. What a show,Kenneth johnson created not just the best scifi show with the Hulk but the best show period!!!!

I love this episode but its sooo funny. The Ape fights like a human, not an animal. He takes the time to look around, and pick up things to throw at the hulk. Its so comical !

I love the Hulk trying to "one up" the gorilla in displays of strength in this sequence. The gorilla throws the desktop safe at the Hulk, so the Hulk shoves the desk aside and picks up the huge four drawer filing cabinet and throws it back at the gorilla, almost as if to say I am stronger and more powerful than you in every way.

Elliott is the late George Barrows. He was a stuntman/character actor, who mostly played Gorillas. He played Gorgo, on the original Addams Family. He and Lurch we're rivals, which is ironic. Ted Cassidy did The Hulk's growls here.
Also, Barris played Thomas Kelly/Herbie (Fake Gorilla) and a real Gorilla; on a two part Beverly Hillbillies episode.
He also played the Gorilla in the movie Konga.

What is interesting that they used a real Black Bear to fight the Hulk in an earlier episode. This was kind of strange considering a Bear is more dangerous and deadlier than a Gorilla

I love watching 80s TV of how their resolution fits with today's HD Tech!. Most of the shows in the 80s being played today gives a feeling of being there or remembering back as you were there. Love this channel, keep it up and never bored with these great uploads of retro tv in HD!

Outstanding! Although saddled w/limited technology back in the day, this scene (and others in the original series) leaves more to the imagination which is far, far more powerful than what we, 'see' in today's movies/TV

This show totally holds up. The tension is emotional rather than drowning in an ocean of CGI. Dr. Banner worked with real people having real problems every week, not alien invasions.
For David banner, turning into the Hulk… Certainly has saved his life on many occasions.

when i was younger , this show was amazing. Older now, i still got into the fight scene but seeing how dated technology was, and the gorilla standing up in a cage 5x to small , lol. BUT STILL LOVED IT. David is always on a journey to find a cure. Very lonely and never ending. As much as i like the hulk scenes, it sad to see banner not get closure over and over. But what you will notice are no agendas, narratives, pc , woke crap in these shows. I miss that.

Oh, that's Konga the Gorilla-I saw an interview w Konga, and he said working w Bill and Lou was an amazing experience-he also wanted to let Gorilla lovers out there know that he NOT hurt at all during the filming and Lou was a gentle as a pussycat

While watching this series again through RUclips and other syndications, I discovered that David is one tough character to be able to take the punishment, pain and punches before hulking out

I disagree, it all looks pretty good, as good as Star Trek anyway (actual Trek w/seventy something episodes). Its not the greatest + yeah I guess a lil bit abnormal for gorilla but all very well done. Definitely professional, but on a different note; they were pretty brave to decide on doing such a crazy idea, love that. A really amazing job of gorillas you'll find in the first scene of the pilot for "The Golden Monkey". THAT was amazing
