@@cartooncottage2024 Personally the only reason I was interested in this show was Ashley Johnson. But damn, I kept watching for entirely different reasons.
I love how she is written absolutely realistic. She hasn't had proper human interaction for decades, of course she would be cold and unempathetic. Most writers seem to forget how the human brain works.
I mean, I like to think she is just trying her best to better herself. Otherwise she would not bother help one-one at all. She even wore his dumb uniform and read his cue cards which honestly would have ticked me off personally if I was her. People do not change overnight and I kinda like seeing her change little by little. Plus the way she treated Hazel reminds me of how people initially act around a new cat then the cat breaks that hardened exterior. If we had another season I assure you she would protect that girl with her life.
I love how much you can tell Amelia is ultimately a frustrated programmer. She worked on perfecting a program for like 30 years (to recreate her old life and husband) and can finally gripe to other people about it. "A lot of turtles. Too many turtles. A number of turtles that makes you think 'Why! Why turtles again?!'" "This interface is garbage." I love all that.
Although we didn’t get quite what we expected for her in Book 4, it’s still pretty interesting to see how different she was before she became conductor and how uncertain she was when she achieved it.
I reckon she sees through him because she was precisely in his shoes at one point. Being the False Conductor; she was completely sold on her plan to recreate her lost husband. Simon's sold on the idea of the Apex, and the role of the Infinity train is to achieve the highest number. And because she knows the train's purpose; there's nothing Simon can say to change the truth.
That being said, her anger towards him seems rather unjustified. Like Simon is an asshole, but Amelia being angry at him for having this false story of her despite her literally causing the story in the first place is kinda funny. Like she’d rather be right than admit that her taking over the train for 30+ years has actual consequences.
@@vibezonegamingI don’t know how you got unjustified from her anger. Simons actively getting upset at her and trying to hurt her for telling him the truth.
fun fact! Book 5 was _actually_ planned and half-produced as a feature film with Amelia as the protagonist of the story, following her grief and slow takeover of the train
She’s a grown woman with her own personality. Media is so over saturated with teenager protagonists that the fact that an older woman could have a personality other than “unimportant mom” makes people’s heads explode. Any interesting personality doesn’t have to be a teenager’s personality. Adults can act like this too, they are just rarely focused on.
i dunno dude, my fav will always be “all aboard the growth train, Toot Toot.” 0:28 i know there’s more to that line but i can never forget her saying that part.
It's not in the video but the further dialogue is just so cute! Amelia: "I think they're sticks." Hazel: "Hahaha they're robots!" Amelia: "Oh, my mistake..." Ahhhh I love it hnghh my heart
I love that in book 3 they didn't just magically make her the most wholesome perfect Mary Sue ever. Book 1 left her someone who's working on getting better, and it's reflected in the way she acts in book 3; she knows she has a long way to go, but she's still trying. I almost think that's a more hopeful message than if they just completely redeemed her and made her the typical hero type.
It also makes her interactions with Simon rather poignant. Her long number, the thing Simon would idolize, is a reminder that she spent years of her life chasing a ghost, and will spend years longer paying off her debts. So she has _no_ patience for any of his delusions or childish fits of rage.
It tells you something about character when the old bad guy that tried to kill people in the first half of the series is more relatable likable it’s understandable in the main characters in of them self hey at least Amelia did it because she had a broken heart and literally almost went crazy when Alrick died she did not treat it like a game of Pac-Man
They were children, and tried to process the strange world around them, to be fair. It's somewhat understandable. Simon committing/attempting murder multiple times just because he feels like it? Far less relatable.
Book 5, if there ever IS a book 5, is/would probably be about Amelia taking over the train. We got hints that either she/"One"/"The Cat" kill someone. My guess is that it's "One" and THAT'S what motivates Amelia to take over the train. She does explicitly say her reason was because she didn't like how "One" did things. My theory is that she'll get her door, and right behind her, "One" is 'dealing with an error' or something like that. Amelia chooses to reject her door and breaks "One" in half. After dealing with his victim, she returns to her door, but sees the opportunity to recreate her old life. Her number goes up again and she loses her exit. But gains the powers of the Conductor.
yea about that... not happening Show is canceled Also she was a conductor in season 1 already so why would they bother with repeating the same exacly content?
