    What’s so enticing about Roger is he wins, most of the time by submission, but he never tries to do more than jiu-jitsu. He’s wasn’t trying to be a showman, embarrass his opponent, or look like it was more than what it is. It’s grace and technique. 🐐

    There's a moment at 3:27 when Roger stops and asks the ref. to unhook Claudio's foot which is trapped in his kimono. Complete awareness and complete regard for the wellbeing of his opponent.
    Roger is simply on another level.

      I met calasans at the adcc 2013. He is actually smaller than he looks. He used to compete as a middle weight, but must only just about made that weight. He should of kept it as a stand up battle. He did well considering.

      That little dude Calasans is a an experienced Judo Blackbelt. His father is a red and white Judo Master. His origins are based off judo, so its not that surprising even with the weight difference. His wrestling is off the charts also. Being a middleweight he won the ADCC Absolute.

      Roger was reaching way over the top of the back leaving that shot open all day. I'm surprised not by the takedown but by Roger leaving himself wide open for such an easy attack.

      @@av8orCH-47 Yeah same here, I would expect Roger to know if he's going for that deep belt grip he needs to put pressure on Claudio's back and get him on his heels. He just left him wide open for the high crotch/te guruma

      @@adamabbas1487 Pressure Passing Guard? I wouldn´t say so. Many guys ahead of Marcelo. Bernardo Faria, Galvao for instance are better pressure weight passers than Marcelo.

      @@plcoelho I agree that Faria is better at guard passing in the gi than Marcelo. They both have the characteristic of using very few passes. Everybody knows what they are going to do, but they still get the pass. Galvao is close with his double under stack style passes.

      Dicky Ball this was the open class. Top 3 finishers of each weight class are eligible to compete in the open class division- it is single class that takes all the medal winners of each weight class.
