Thanks very much for this along with your usb power socket video. Proved invaluable when removing bodywork to hard wire a Sat Nav to my Z1000SX without breaking anything!!

Just got one of these powered units on my (new to me) 08 Honda GoldWing. The previous owner gave it to me as part of the deal. Now I am getting familiar with it.

They are pretty good. Watch out for the adventurous routing. It can be a bit ‘bonkers’ and take you down very narrow gravel infested side roads. I’m still trying to get a decent blend between twisters, boring motorways and near death experiences on gravel cart tracks. Lol.

Glad you liked it. My Z is a 2018 model, so there may be some differences to watch out for on other years.

Hi Chisnsid, Great Video. I also own a Z1000SX Touring version and I have a wired Zumo 390LM at the moment and have also managed to get a deal on a 595LM. Plus will be heading to Troyes and the Jura Mountains in June. Did the USB socket accept a USB Stick with music and let it play through the unit. Also have you tried the spotify app on the unit?
Now heading over to watch your previous clip on the installation of the USB at the front of the bike as i have had one sitting in the shed and haven't got round to fitting it. I have also ordered the big box of connectors from Ebay.lol.

big box of connectors is the ONLY way to go brother!
I have not tested the usb media but it supposed to do just that, I installed mine under the pillion seat so will test it soon.
      stay safe out there...

@@chisnsid Thanks. fitted the 595LM Last week and the spotify app works perfect. Just gotta try a USB stick with music to see if that works. BTW check out my 360 Videos on this channel. I have two channels. Syd.

Hi there! Came across this video after watching the one on how to install a USB socket. That's my next project on my Ninja 1000sx 2020.
In that video, I noticed you had the Quad Lock mounted on the universal SW-Motech GPS mount. The same one my dealer has installed on my bike to mount the TomTom on it. I'm getting rid of the TT in favour of a Quad Lock actually... Which seems to be the opposite direction of where you were headed in this video. Anyway, funny how I went through all the available QL mounts and figured the cycling stem mount might be the most elegant solution to fit between the GPS mount and my phone and keep it stable. How did you find it in terms of stability? Was your phone wobbling at all?
I might go for a different option anyway. Found an unused RAM base and arm. It's screwed on by 4 screws instead of the 1 through the middle of the cycling mount. And the arm swivels around so gives me more flexibility I suppose. Perhaps I'll loose out on stability there...
Would be good to have your opinion on this since you've some experience with the same mount and a Quad Lock. Anyways, good to have found another channel on useful stuff to enhance my Kawa! Keep it up!
    Cheers, Merlin

Hi at the time quad lock only did the handle bar mounts. I used heavy duty cable ties to strap it to the go’s mount and it was fine. These days I think quad lock do a mount option that is way better.
I stopped using phone based navigation mainly because of the lag and also the Garmin I use now has Bette routing options and can be used with gloves on. :)

erhan balıkçı I believe you can add a memory stick into it for the media player on the navigation device.

Hi chisnsid I was wondering how you were finding the Garmin I have always held of because my phone has always done the job. I have a garmim for the car and have to say it is shit unless I put a postcode in. Is it touch screen for waypoints, Oh and you wired it the right way rather than the switched wires at the front because u dont have to switch the bloody bike on to plot a route every time or fiddle for the power button at the back

hi, thanks for the nice feedback :) I've not used it more than a to b routing right now, but will be using it extensively in normandy in June, so I suppose I'll be in a position to know more then. I will post videos of the days we spend over there, so hopefully I will remember to capture this question and give you some feedback.

Is this unit support Thai voice, keyboard and menu. Something like ภาษาไทย in the setting menu. I plan to buy the EU unit on a website.
And can it install free map?

What a waste of work .... there are 3 contact-switched connections available on the left front side of your bike ...
You definetely didn't do your research .

    • @chisnsid
      @chisnsid  5 лет назад +1

thanks for the feedback... it's not a waste of work at all.. because it works.
I could change it for the switched connections at the front if I want to later if it causes me issues, but I doubt it.
thanks for pointing out there are three.. I knew of the one for the USB socket - used it in a previous video - and then there's the one on the left side for the heated grips, where's the third? Let me know please as it may be useful in the future.
      thanks

@@chisnsid Check my post in the Z1000SX facebook page where you've put your video too. I've put a picture over there. The connection is taped in by my dealer but I think, didn't look yet , that there is an extra connector underneath it ;)
