To die at 21 and a nationally famous outlaw is bad ass but to do everything he did then go onto actually live and go into hiding for 69 years and be rediscovered 1 year before his death to tell the truth. The main point against this is that Brushy Bill's neice says he was not Billy the Kid and his date of birth was in the family records as 1879...he would have been too young to be him. That said, I sort of believe he was Billy the Kid because of the fact that he wasn't seeking fame or notoriety for this and only came out claiming it publicly when he was contacted by Garrison from the law firm in the twilight of his life. And why would outlaws living in other states claim that he was really Billy the Kid? How would they even know of him especially since he wasn't courting attention. The fact that he wanted a pardon too at that point of his life would be odd for someone who was playing make believe. I don't feel there is much evidence available that he was killed by Garrett. There is probably more evidence pointing to Brushy Bill being the kid IMO....and im no conspiracy theorist. I think he just took a relatives birth certificate and claimed to be somebody else. Outlaws and fugitives disappeared often back in this era and went under different aliases. Times were a lot more primitive back then. They simply didn't have the time or resources back then to go after someone who was allegedly dead. Especially if they were behaving themselves and keeping a low profile.

Their B&B is called Scurlock Farms in Georgetown,Texas and on their website they explain stories Doc had handed down and some truths of how they had actually meet before even going to Lincoln County.

A very complicated and expensive photo/facial recognition comparison was done between this famous tintype and a picture of Roberts as an old man. It came back as a 93% match. The 7% differences were said by the experts to be accounted for by age, some weight gain, and dental work. Anyone can find this information; you just have to put in the homework.........

Sumner was a match to the bloodstains on the table on which a dead Billy the Kid was said to have been placed. Brushy Bill's DNA would be irrelevant in that if he was actually Billy the Kid, then the blood on the table in Ft. Sumner wasn't Billy's, because he was never there, and therefore the bloodstain would not match Brushy Bill (Billy the Kid). If someone else was shot and then buried as Billy the Kid, as is claimed, then the body in the grave will match the bloodstains on the table. That in and of itself can't identify the body buried in Ft. Sumner positively as Billy the Kid since there is no base DNA from Billy with which to compare. Unless miraculously someone had a viable bloodstain from Billy from any of his injuries during his life and the provenance to authenticate such sample. Fat chance.

In the only authenticated photo of BTK take note of his earlobe. It is not attached to his face, BB's are. Your ears are fully formed at adulthood and never change with age short of plastic surgery. BTK might have survived that night but Brushy Bill was not Billy the Kid.
Read the history of the Dedrick tintype BEFORE Koch bought it. You will see that it was badly degraded and was retouched at one point by a photographer/artist because the lower parts of the ears and most of the chin [ as well as other areas on the edges of the actual picture ] were so degraded that they were all but gone. So, no one really knows if Billy the Kid had detached earlobes, or not. I'm not saying that Roberts WAS Billy the Kid, but am throwing some facts and information out there that you may not have been aware of. This information would seem to throw a large amount of doubt on the ''idea'' that their earlobe types did not match. The same can be said for those who say their chins did not match.

Sumner was a match to the bloodstains on the table on which a dead Billy the Kid was said to have been placed. Brushy Bill's DNA would be irrelevant in that if he was actually Billy the Kid, then the blood on the table in Ft. Sumner wasn't Billy's, because he was never there, and therefore the bloodstain would not match Brushy Bill (Billy the Kid). If someone else was shot and then buried as Billy the Kid, as is claimed, then the body in the grave will match the bloodstains on the table. That in and of itself can't identify the body buried in Ft. Sumner positively as Billy the Kid since there is no base DNA from Billy with which to compare. Unless miraculously someone had a viable bloodstain from Billy from any of his injuries during his life and the provenance to authenticate such sample. Fat chance.

Read the history of the Dedrick tintype BEFORE Koch bought it. You will see that it was badly degraded and was retouched at one point by a photographer/artist because the lower parts of the ears and most of the chin [ as well as other areas on the edges of the actual picture ] were so degraded that they were all but gone. So, no one really knows if Billy the Kid had detached earlobes, or not. I'm not saying that Roberts WAS Billy the Kid, but am throwing some facts and information out there that you may not have been aware of. This information would seem to throw a large amount of doubt on the ''idea'' that their earlobe types did not match. The same can be said for those who say their chins did not match.
