Wow! This was a life saver! My window failed today and stopped by dealer to find out if there was an easy fix to get it up. They said no. So I asked how much it would cost to fix it. $450. Immediately went to parts department and found out part was $156.00. Bought a Chilton book on my way home and it left out vital information. My girlfriend looked up this video and we were on our way! Successfully replaced the regulator and window motor within 2 hours. Thanks so much!!!!
I wasn't going to attempt this but your video made it look so simple and easy and it was. I called the dealer and their price was $387 for part and instillation. After watching your video I ordered the part, which cost less than $80 and did the instillation myself. It was easy and only took about 45 minutes from start to finish! Thank you for saving me some money....
My passenger window fell while I was on a roadtrip. $500 at a Ford dealer in GA. My drivers's side just fell. I'm now fixed for less than a $100! Many Thanks! Great job! Guitarfxer
I replaced the rear window regulator on my 2005 F150 Super Crew. The procedure is the same. Also it was much easier to replace than I first thought. Your video was a great help. If a person has basic mechanical skills, there is no reason to pay someone to do this job.
YOU ROCK!!! I had an issue with my window regulator and went to the Ford dealer. $425 to repair it?!?! I looked it up on RUclips and figured I'd give it a try. I'm not the most skilled at auto repair but the video was spot on and super easy to follow. I bought the parts online for $100 which was $70 cheaper than what the Ford dealer wanted. Video was awesome, issue fixed and it was EASY! Save some cash and do it yourself... You can, I did! If you're in Michigan, beers on me!
A month ago, a group of thugs broke into cars in my area. They tried to get into mines by forcing the window down but couldn't, but succeeded in destroying the regulator. Thanks for the detailed video. I really helped me a great deal and I saved a lot money doing it on my own. I replaced the regulator within an hour (including driving to O Reilly's to pickup a new one).
Second time I had to go back to this video for another door on my f150. Ordered from their site and paid half for the OEM part versus the dealer. Thanks again for this great video. I have two more windows on my supercrew and I am sure I will be back again!
had the same problem on my f 150, the video helped me big time,, knocked it out in about an hour or so,, without this video it would have take much longer,,,, saved me some big dollars
I replaced the driver's side regulator and switch a couple of years ago. Pretty easy but I forgot what it involved. Thanks for the reminder and extra tips! Parts are now on the way for the passenger side. Despite these little hiccups, I still love my 2004 Ford F-150! It's been relatively problem-free since I purchased it new.
Excellent video. Clear, easy instructions. You saved me serious time pointing out just loosening outer bolts (not removing) and to check it before installing the door panel. My 2004 was reverse polarity, after panicking testing it I found a reverse polarity plug in the box.
Flat awesome video. I was a bit intimidated to take on the task, but after watching your video I moved forward. You cover small details that NAPA fails to mention in their instructions, like the removal of the speaker offsets. I replaced the regulator instead of trying to repair it. Great instructions! Thank you. You saved me $150+ labor at the shop.
I just wanted to say thank you very much for this making this video. I have an 04' and the drivers door window fell 3 days ago. I replaced the regulator and motor today and it would have been a lot harder if not for your helpful video. Thanks Again!!
Just finished the job -big thanks for the video. Note, make sure you know if you have a 43 or 50 inch door before buying regulator. Likewise the polarity will be different so you have to rewire or purchase an adapter on the power connection on some F150's. Feels good not paying $400.
Thanks so much for doing this. This is something I’ve always dreaded to do. I put a new window motor in my 83 Camaro when I was a teenager and it was a nightmare. You made this look so easy I decided to go for it and it turned out to be no big deal. I didn’t order the part from you because I needed to get it replaced today. If you had a donate button on here I would gladly do so.
Just wanted to say thanks for the outstanding video. There's no way I would've even thought about attempting this repair but have now, thanks to the video, I've done it sucessfully and will be ready if another fails. Thank you!
thank you for the clear instructions, I used this video and another one on repair of the problem to get a clear understanding. I repaired two today, front passenger and Rear driver for $.02 using two nails that I had already. That was what? $400+ in repairs for three hours and $.02 cents Thank you!
Thanks for the excellent and thorough video! Was able to tackle my own F150 power regulator replacement without a hitch, after watching your instructions....Great!
Great video. I had my window stuck in the down position, and couldn't reach the bolts that clamp window to regulator, so I had to take motor apart to raise window. Thanks again.
Just ordered mine from you guys. Thanks for answering my questions and making sure I ordered the right part from you. Great customer service, and great video.
@traficante50 That sounds like it could be either the motor or the switch, the switch has a relay on the inside of it which could make a buzzing noise if it starts to fail. The easiest way to test it would be to pull the switch off and try operating the window while the switch is near your ear, you should be able to distinguish if the noise is coming from the switch or inside the door panel.
@kipp3r84 It's probably the regulator, the noise you describe is usually a regulator on it's last legs just trying to hang on. You will likely find some of the plastic parts of the regulator broken once you open up the door.
Thank you for posting this. I have subscribed but hopping I won’t need to watch that often haha. Really it went great after following your fantastic instructions. The best to you and your family . Be safe
Man! Wish I could buy you a beer heck the whole 18pack, you do not know the headache and $$$$ money you've saved me god bless you brother! I was able to do this job just the way you described it. I feel like I can take on anything Thx to you brother Muah a kiss in the forehead. Cheers!😎👍🍻
If you have creaking or squeaking F150 regulators use 3M red synthetic grease on the cables and pulleys. I greased mine 5 or 6 years ago and they've been fine since.
Thank You So So So Much! With your excellent tutorial, I felt confident enough to replace my own drivers side window motor - and it works - and it's AWESOME! RAWR! :)
GREAT VIDEO!! I will be attempting the rear door in my 04 Super Crew tonight. Then the suburban, then the honda...... man something about me and regulators..
Great video. I'm not a handy person but I performed this job fairly quickly. Thanks. I also ordered the parts from you guys and the prices were great. Thanks again.
@airpilikia The wires going to the motor are reversed? if that's the case, someone on an assembly line was snoozing when putting that plug together, you can either cut them and resplice them, or pull the pins of out the pigtail (there is usually a little catch tab to pry up on to release the pin) and switch their positions in the pigtail itself.
We do not yet have a video on the rears, the rears are slightly different, but the same basic procedures can be followed. (Find hidden bolts, remove door panel, remove regulator). We hope to have a video for a rear door eventually. Thanks
The book time on this regulator calls for 1 hour of Labor, So it would depend on what your local labor rate is. If it's $100 per hour of labor, that would be $100 plus the part cost.
@iTzMeChucky When it gets stuck, do you hear the motor still continuing to run? I know the power window switches are common to fail in those trucks, and it will just randomly stop, if the switch is bad though, you won't hear the motor running when the window is stuck.
I am not sure of the exact procedure for the rear doors, but if you follow the basic template that we used in this video you should be fine. Just note that the location of the screws/bolts may have changed, other than that it should be nearly identical.
Struggling with one of the plastic pieces behind the speaker. I wish you had said what socket you used. Also, I have a giant blood blister on my dominant thumb, so, probably restricted by that.
Just to make sure that this would be the piece that needs to be replaced in my car, my passenger side window rolls down just fine but won't go up using either switch on the passenger or driver side. Should I be thinking something else in the problem or buy this piece and install it?
Great video! I have a question though. My 2004 driver side went down. I can hear the motor working fine. I know that some broken plastic parts are the culprit as my passenger side broke down last year. Can I repair those parts with strong epoxy glue, or will the stress of it going up and down (which isn't often in my case) cause it to break again sooner? I'm just trying to save the $300 it cost me last time. Thanks.
This is an awesome video and I've been successful thus far,but I can't get those plastic clips out that you said should just pop right out?! Any help on that ??
Hey there, somehow the steel cable on the regulator assembly got all jammed up. Should I just replace the whole thing, or can it be fixed, it looks like a cable has frayed and popped on the little pulley system that wraps it.
+Charles Holden Yes that is a failure and complete replacement is needed. Most all of the cable style power window regulator and motors have a failure with the cable and both the motor and regulator should be replaced as the cable is grabbed by the regulator and motor.
At least we got the point across, you knew what we were talking about lol :) "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." -William Shakespeare
I have an 07 f150 suprecrew,my front driver side window won't go up or down a few days back it started making a small buzzing noise when going up or down, you think it's the motor gone bad.
@APDTY Hey man I have a question, I have an 04' F-150 Super Crew, My driver window goes up and down, but every once in a while it will get stuck for a second and the catch back up with the motor, is the track loose? or what might be the problem.
ill be doing this on the weekend, my window makes a horrible screaching noise and not sure if its the motor or the regulator, it still moves up and down. any ideas?
I tried this with my 2004 F-150 supercab driver's side window and the Dorman replacement has a different power plug for the motor so it won't work. The Dorman unit has a square plug and the factory regulator has a hole for a round plug to go into.
Man this is bothering me, I ordered two regulators from different websites (one after another) and the left side of the assembly never lined up with the door panel holes. The left post is actually too long. Also the cord is too short!! No idea what my options are. I'm not taking it to a stealership, I might take my doors off and have a f150 Rubicon 😂

I used this video back in December as a guide. Saved me $225. Do the exact steps in the video and you're fine.

+Victor D. Easley EZ stuff. Just remember to loosen the bolts on the new regulator before installing.

+Ken Compton One thing to add....some replacement regulators do NOT come with the mounting screws, so be sure to save the old screws, just in case!
Great video. I had my window stuck in the down position, and couldn't reach the bolts that clamp window to regulator, so I had to take motor apart to raise window. Thanks again.
I had to do a rear door on my extended cab. It was slightly different but this info was invaluable. Thank you so much!
thanks so much man. you've save me a couple of hundred dollars to my mechanic that i dont have. Thank you!
Just ordered mine from you guys. Thanks for answering my questions and making sure I ordered the right part from you. Great customer service, and great video.
Just followed this video and changed out my window regulator on my 2005. Thanks great video.

You have save me hundreds of dollars with this video. Thank you!!!!!!!!
Did mine yesterday good step by step instruction thanks a lot
Nice job! Thanks, I have the same issue w/ my '05 F-150 and now know how to pull out the regulator.
Thanks so much for the video. Details were spot on and I saved a tonne of cash doing it myself.
Thank you sooo much for saving me $400 which is what the dealer wanted to charge me.
Thank you for taking the time to do this. Helped me a ton!
Thanks for the video made the installation very simple!

We do not yet have a video on the rears, the rears are slightly different, but the same basic procedures can be followed. (Find hidden bolts, remove door panel, remove regulator). We hope to have a video for a rear door eventually. Thanks
This video is awesome. Saved me time, money and aggrevagtion!! Thanks!
A suction cup is handy to hold the glass up. (I like using a dual suction cup with a handle)
@APDTY I ended up cutting and splicing them. Thanks. Great video.
great video. i plan on attempting this procedure this weekend.
I second that. Thanks for the video made the installation very simple!
about to have to do this myself. great prep video. i know exactly what to do now.
The book time on this regulator calls for 1 hour of Labor, So it would depend on what your local labor rate is. If it's $100 per hour of labor, that would be $100 plus the part cost.

Is it likely that replacing JUST the regulator will do the job? I see you can buy a regulator or a regulator/motor kit.
Excellent job. Very explained
Do you have a video for the rear door on the f-150 super crew? I have replaced the front already and someone said the rear was different.
Thanks.
It may be possible to epoxy it, but we have never attempted that as that is usually a very short term fix.
This is an awesome video and I've been successful thus far,but I can't get those plastic clips out that you said should just pop right out?! Any help on that ??
used it to do my window today... thanks for the video
thanks man it help me a lot now I can do it myself

Glad we were able to help! Thanks
Nice man 👍 saving everybody 💰 u da Man

I have an 07 f150 suprecrew,my front driver side window won't go up or down a few days back it started making a small buzzing noise when going up or down, you think it's the motor gone bad.
@jDuBs8o The regulator itself is usually what breaks, but because of 'ole Murphy and his law, you may as well replace both while you are in there.
@APDTY I hear the motor still spinning when it gets stuck, is it a sign that my regulator assembly needs to be replaced completely?
The rear regulator will actually be different, feel free to give us a call and we can help you find the correct part for your truck.
Hey question for you. For my 05 fx4 I have a super crew cab do I just order a front drivers regulator for the rear drivers side window?
very detailed.....great video keep up the good work
@APDTY Hey man I have a question, I have an 04' F-150 Super Crew, My driver window goes up and down, but every once in a while it will get stuck for a second and the catch back up with the motor, is the track loose? or what might be the problem.

Thank you so much very informative awesome video
Good video 👍🏻 made my project easier
Perfect video man!!! Yessssss. I needed this big time
how much would this cost me to have done at the dealership? any idea? just a rough guess would be awesome
Perfecto amigo thanks 😅
Thanks for The Video and Time, this really helps.
Got all the way to the regulator, but the window is stuck in the up position. Any advice? Thank you
@APDTY thank you very much
Thanks for the video!!! It was right on point !!
Just what needed. Thanks
Excellent video
gracias por el video estava apunto de pagar 100 bucks for repair jejee thanks for the video am ready to paid 100 dolar only for put on thanks

Is this considered a 2 door or 4 door?
@ndchevy Most Likely, What type of vehicle is it?
Chingon la mera verdad gracias
thank you Sr.
Explicable muy vien y se ve muy vien el trabajado y es eselente
Man this is bothering me, I ordered two regulators from different websites (one after another) and the left side of the assembly never lined up with the door panel holes. very helpful thanks!
Very helpful.
