Brad Bird is one of the greatest animators of all time, he's yet to make a single movie that isn't a Masterpiece!

This was a very informative video, man! Engaging all the way through! Well done and great job on it! Yeah Brad Bird is without a doubt one of the most successful pioneers of animation. First film I saw of his was The Iron Giant but my fave of his would be The Incredibles of course! It's amazing that he gets to direct animated from 2D to CGI, and non-animated films in his career (a Mission Impossible as his debut at that!!) Very inspiring. Although I was disappointed with Incredibles 2 😂. But back on topic, Brad truly had tenacity and grit and I'm excited to see what other films he'll direct/work on in his career!

Thanks, really happy to hear that you found it engaging! I personally enjoyed Incredibles 2 a lot, but it was always going to be hard to live up to how great the first one is for many. I'm very excited for his future films too!

I love his movies, but the personality he shows is awful, he is so arrogant, condescending and rude, always speaking with that perk, entitled tone, and he always fails to recognize how privileged he's always been. Privilege was as much a part of his impressive career as was his amazing talent. Not everybody who dreamed about being an animator and always worked hard had an animator family friend in their lives as a child, parents who could afford to built a home animation studio is the basement so their kid could just play and practice (!!!!), and connections to people in the field - and with Disney's racial segregational environments and women excluding politics by the 20th century, it is very unlikely that he would be embraced and taken serious by the team, and even being given two veteran mentors to teach him the stuff. So yeah. Everything was right there for him to take with his born rich, white cis-het male from USA hands. But he never mentions all the facilities that has something to do with his tragetory, and how his privileges came to play in his success, all the doors that was open for him given to his advantages and preferencial treatment in society at his snarky victorious "meritocracy" pep talks. I really dislike him as a person, but as far as his art goes, I really admire his work.

Very good points, he doesn't really come across as rude to me, but I could totally see why others think that. As for the rest though, yes he was undoubtedly very privileged, and things lined up for him really well. I think my dilemma when making these videos is I don't really want to make them in a way that feels too out of reach for people and ends up being a put off for people perusing the arts industry (I want to do the opposite), of course though I also want to make sure that the videos truthful. I will definitely keep this in mind though for whoever I end up doing a video about next and will try to make their privilege clearer if they come from that sort of background. I'll hopefully come up with some sort of compromise by the next video in the series if it's needed so that it can stay positive, but also maybe mention some of the hurdles that many wouldn't be able to overcome.

So you dislike him because he's both rich and white? I literally had a migraine after reading this poorly written diatribe
