- In this video I'll talk about a pretty interesting topic that people have been talking about in the Geometry Dash community, regarding how much the difficult of this game has increased over the years. Also, there are some cool memes and levels. I hope you'll enjoy it!

I see some people getting the concept of the video wrong. Yes I know geometry dash is always getting harder and harder and I know it will never stop. I just wanted to point out that this is happening right now and some levels such as bloodlust, which used to be legendary demons, started to look easy compared to the new ones like Tidal Wave. Maybe I should have worded better the video? I don't know. Well I hope you all are having a great day!

I honestly think the video is fine, and many players just don't understand from our shoes the extent to which a GD level's difficulty has inevitably reached. New extremes also don't really carry the same weight of achievement as old ones might, because of things like demon list opinion/influence, or just because of the shear amount of extremes we have now.

@@Astra-Playz no, it shouldn't. LIMBO is a memory level with raw gameplay around Subsonic difficulty. Changing that gameplay to be completely memory based, and into a level that's 3 minutes long, does not make it top 5 in todays current demon list. Slaughterhouse is top 7 now. if LIMBO was placed at top 5 as you claim it should be, then it would be placed above Slaughterhouse. Now you should understand the absurdity of your statement.

Another fun fact: the halfway point of GD’s history is December 2018. Bloodlust had been top 1 for several months, Crimson Planet was left unrated, Zodiac was in the verification process

I mean, the list was never meant to be accessible. People back then saw Bloodbath like we see Tidal Wave or Acheron now
Bloodbath and Cataclysm are still the best examples of what an Extreme Demon should be in my opinion.
@@davisdf3064 let's be honest, regular extremes and top demons are basically entirely different categories. Bloodbath and cataclysm stopped being top demons years ago, but I agree that they are good examples of regular extremes

@@davisdf3064no, rob just needs a new difficulty. The difficulty gap between cataclysm and tidal wave is bigger than between cataclysm and stereo madness, yet TW and cata are both extremes and there is 8 difficulties between cata and stereo madness
He could also just give extremes an option to be filtered by ranking and implement a legitimate ranking system in-game that can be modified by assigned moderator voting. That way it can be like "filter by easiest to hardest or hardest to easiest / top 100 vs. bottom 100" that kinda stuff. Would require all of the extremes to be re-rated but would be hugely convenient for new players looking to get into extremes and also have a more solid comparison for their accomplishments for any demon that is no longer on the demon list. Like if bloodbath was rated #210 or smth among the 900 extremes that would still feel pretty good for a lot of players.@@xenird

@@thej4546 If they are worried its gonna fall out of the top 100 they definitely already know its extended list, extended list still gives list points, and accepts records for the levels, so the incentive to complete is still there

The demon difficulty was divided into multiple "sub-difficulties" so to speak, as levels above insane had varying degrees of how hard they actually are despite sharing the same rating, so this approach was taken.
Considering that Bloodbath is rated "extreme demon," the hardest rating available, despite there being levels today that are much harder in comparison, perhaps a different, even beyond "extreme" rating could be implemented, and perhaps needed.

The fact that there are Demon achievements beyond 10 demons is already too much i think, how much time does RobTop think that the average player can spend on GD?
@@davisdf3064not all achievements need to be beaten by the average player. Gd has been out for 10 years so 500 demons isnt extremely hard, except for new players

I feel like the best way to make levels harder at this point is by making them longer. There's really no other way to make it harder without pushing the top players' limits at this point

That’s true, most of the popular advertised upcoming top 1s are 3, 4, even 5 minutes long. Ascension to Heaven, Misanthrope, Kingdom of Miracles, Adramalech, Bad Times, Lament. The ones that aren’t this long and are as difficult are just random ILL levels

Probably from people wanting a spotlight in the list, rather from people wanting to make a fun gameplay and a good level
(seriously, half of the difficulty from most of these comes from over detailing)
Tartarus was lower but Hard Machine got moved down to 36
@@davisdf3064since top demons are so precise, its basically muscle memory instead of seeing the gameplay and reacting to it. So theres no difference for the top player between overdeco or no deco

I realized a long time ago that the super difficult extreme demons or those that try to be a top 1 are taking us to the limit, I believed that Slaughterhouse was enough, and that this level would take months or a year to be overcome, but then more levels came out that exceeded their difficulty, after realizing this I said to myself "the day that Slaughterhouse is no longer among the 150 most difficult levels and goes to the legacy list, that day I will be very scared"
Next, the levels will become longer, instead of having harder gameplay. Example, flamewall.

I used to be pretty active in GD around 1.9-2.0, stopped playing in very early 2.1. At the time the difficulty gap between the top levels was visible and when a new hardest level was verified it was (usually) unanimously agreed upon by the community, without the need for extensive discussion (argument) and measurement of (probably useless) statistics like frame perfects. I've always followed the Geometry Dash scene through RUclips, but ever since Bloodlust I've had no clue how to differ which levels are harder just by looking at the gameplay. If you asked me whether Arcturus or Avernus was harder before looking at the demonlist I'd probably say Arcturus.
That’s probably true for most levels, but not Tidal Wave and Avernus. TW is noticeably harder than Avernus, mostly due to its extreme (in comparison) length
Agreed, Tidal Wave is such an astronomical step up. I almost never really saw any argument on where it'd place.
I think that while there are many legenrdary extremes going down the demonlist as harder and harder levels are being placed towards the top, for every new super hard extreme there's a new beginner extreme and there's been a pretty fair amount of entry extremes coming out so with all the new rates, we get rates of every difficulty which is pretty cool and something I think people gloss over.
I feel like the demon categories in general are getting harder, like all of them except maybe Easy Demon (cause it can’t go lower than that). Like To The Grave was once a top 1 in 2013, in 2021 it was Hard Demon. Now it is an easy demon, and a mid to easy one at that.

Even though levels are technically getting harder. Since new players are still joining the game there will always be a portion of the community that focuses on easier levels. So while top levels are getting harder, the game still has those easier levels (even beginning extremes)
i agree. there are too many extreme demons being uploaded and verified and the fact that bloodlust is in 99th place shocked me. The fact that acheron will soon be out of the top 10 if this keeps going is just simply ridiculous. No new players would be able to keep up.

True but you really can't be mad, the demonlist shouldn't be restricted just because players are getting too good. As long as even harder levels can still be beaten, the list will keep getting more difficult

New players should definitely go to the gddp before the demonlist to get better now. Unless they enjoy jumping from deadlocked to bloodlust of course.
1:40 btw the name of this guy is called raevez. I believe he doesnt hate the level its just he verifying another top 1 called silent acropolis that was most likely gonna be top 1 until tidal wave got rated. This means he has to buff the level for it to become top 1 again.

i hope nobody decides to use the idea of all frame perfect jumps, length and memory. there can’t be a level harder than that. everything will blur together. we need to versilitize difficulties and not constantly chase top 1s.

at this point, im proud I've beaten an extreme demon. The way things are going though, every extreme is going to be unplayable for the majority of players. We need more entry level extremes
there are definitely enough entry extreme demons, its just people give a lot more attention to the list which makes them think the game is too hard

Difficulty is bound to get to ridiculous levels in any game based off of raw skill. I personally think that the demon list should be bigger (maybe 200 spots with the top 100 being main and the last 100 being extended) to compensate the rise in difficulty so that people get the same feeling of accomplishment of for example beating Sonic Wave now as they would have if they beat it when it was still on the list.
One thing that I see, it's maybe the top level will slowdown a bit and the creator will make some good easy extreme demon. It will still have top demon but now that they are so OP I think they will gently stop or just slow down.
And I really hope so in a way. Because there's so much level that I want to play but can't due to the extreme difficulty. (Ex: Limbo, Kocmoc, etc...) I really hope that we will starts a new period of hype on easier demon or even just on non-demon level. It could be very interesting.
1. Bloodlust was the hyped-up hardest level at one giant point and now its barely holding on to the top 100. It just makes me think that at some point, top 1s are going to be all frame perfect clicks and nothing else.

I think it doesn’t matter that much. Extreme demons (Before they got popular) were downvote to oblivion because nobody liked playing them and this just took a turn because after Cataclysm and Bloodbath, people just want to see how far the GD community can push the human limit. In a way to me, we all just slowly become observers of the pinnacle of the players, waiting for just one player, one level to be left, which cannot be surpassed. We enjoy simply watching and seeing others reactions and taking part in this journey to the human limit. Sure it’s almost impossible to join in and try to fight for the top spots, but that’s just how far we‘ve pushed it. What I want to get at is, that from the beginning this was where the extreme demons lead, to a path just a few can follow. Crying about them being unplayable simply means, that you didn’t put enough effort or dont actually have that hunger to strive for the hardest levels and be the best there is. At the end of the day the are just supposed to be that: So difficult only a limited amount of top players can play them.
Its weird how we as a community have always wanted to push the limits of this game and yet we hypocritically are unhappy with how hard the top levels are getting
I don’t mind the increase in difficulty, its fun seeing new hard levels get made as time goes on, and I think some of the community just doesn’t want change which I do understand

The fact with extreme demons becoming more impossible really sucks because I think that Tempo-Katana by Camellia would be great as an extreme but knowing people they’d make all of Camellia’s songs impossible to beat for even those who are good at GD, I don’t like where Demons are going

I'm pretty sure that tidal wave will remain top 1 in years to come. The 200 frame perfects can only be explained by (obviously extreme skill) but also pure chance. This level will not only be top 1, but also will have only one victor.

Throughout the history of Geometry dash, harder levels have always been hated until they become easier compared to other demons and then people accept it more. The same can be said now
Eventually it will get to the point where every jump is frame perfect and the only way to tell the difference in difficulty is the length.

I’m starting to think it’s time to bring a revamped rating system in, allowing for higher difficulties. Bloodbath is not on the same level as Tidal Wave, and yet they’re both rated as the same difficulty.

The game is actually getting easier, more hacks which make playing more enjoyable and easier and more levels to improve your skill from with various types of gameplay that suit your interest. Now we have almost 1k extremes to try out, many years ago there were as few as under 20 extremes and no hacks to make the game more easier and enjoyable

im almost sure that the demon list is not accepting verifications of 2.2 levels where fps bypass was used. And the fps unlocker has different physics if we compare with fps bypass, so i think that will freeze a little the race for the #1 hardest demon
What do you mean by fps bypass? I’ve seen a couple of comments about that but I don’t understand
@@Frannn275 you could only play the game on 60 fps max on 2.1. The fps bypass allowed you to break this limit. Because of that, the physics became much "smoother". Straight fly and timings, for example, were much easier.
@@Frannn275 and in 2.2, the game added the "fps bypass", but the physics are different than the third party fps bypass, they are "heavier" and harder to control
Bloodbath was impossible back then, if u beat it u were considered as a super skilled player. but now people beat bloodbath everyday!
Thats gonna happen with acheron, slaughterhouse, silent clubstep, bloodlust, avernus and pretty much with every other demon in a few years.
But the actual question is...
How are new top ones are gonna be? Slaughterhouse is already extremely hard, even is its top 7th.
Bloodlust is different, it was verified in 2018 and its still into the top 100th, ever after 6 years later, its gonna happen the same thing with todays top ten.
