    Well it's no surprise the higher intelligence the higher the depression it's because we're logical people living in an extremely illogical world. "It's no sign of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society"

    Wow! It's fascinating the lack of understanding that professionals can have about the inner drivers of autism.
    I wish the issues were just a lack of motivation to be independent. This video really hit my shame buttons!

    If you assume the actual adult autism rate is similar to the childhood autism rate (i.e., adults are likely underdiagnosed), the independence statistic would probably be much higher than 25%. When I was a child, they only diagnosed autism if there were language deficits. It wasn't until the '90s that Asperger's was officially recognized, and it was only in 2013 that Asperger's was rolled into ASD. Thus, many people who are now adults would never have received a diagnosis unless they had significant disability (particularly as of 2009- the year on the pie chart).
