A fun run of south swell hit Southern California on April 28, 2023, and lit up the Wedge in Newport Beach! Meanwhile, a southwest Pacific storm is providing solid surf for Teahupoo in Tahiti. Surfline is sharing live updates on its website. Also congratulations to Gabriel Medina and Carissa Moore on winning the WSL Western Australia Margaret River Pro!
It’s been a slow start to spring with record low water temps and little to no swell. We are hopeful for a solid summer as we leave La Nina behind and continue to check Surfline’s forecast.
This particular session of surfing the Wedge includes epic barrels and wipeouts at California’s most famous shore break! Standouts of this session include Jamie O’Brien and Max Beach.

If the spill was South of the Wedge, then a South Swell would push it farther North.

I thought southern cali was warm, always wearing steamers?
The water is 60 degrees Fahrenheit right now.
It is but rarely very hot at the beach.
I think too many surfers out these days without leashes, boards are weapons in the surf. Used to be awesome out there for all the boogers catching sidewaves and not getting dropped in on at peak. Surfers are trying to surf all the booger waves these day's so there everywhere.
What a waste of time, did you have to show every kook? couldn't you just show the few barrels you shot ...kook land out there.
