Footage from The Wedge on May 15th, 2019. It was absolutely going off today and everyone was charging! In this video you will see massive waves with over 20 foot faces in Newport Beach, CA! This was the first of many big south swells this season! Lots of barrels and insane waves went down today, also if you see a clip of you email me! Stay tuned more swell on the way!

Watching this from Sydney whilst on nightshift working in a Correctional Centre. Always had a fascination with the Wedge since i was a little kid, hopefully i can see it pumping whilst on holidays there soon !!!

When I was a teenager in the 70s, I would ditch school on big surf days and ride my bike for many miles with surfboard in hand to the wedge. You can't appreciate the risk until you ride one of these unusual waves that break in very shallow water until it pounds you into the sand. Good times!

Coolest ride I ever saw at the wedge was back in the early 90's, pumping up to 15'. Some skim boarder came in from the beach and caught a nasty wave.

never charged the wedge but I would on a bodyboard... miss the gnarly days, southside of Jupiter Inlet(90s and before) was similar, sic & not crowded in the fall/winter.

SoCal Surfer you guys are braver than me. In the late 70s and 80s....from la to ventura ....it was who you knew. I knew tons of rats, but they were crazy....surfing at 5am.....then race to loyola hs from malibu...salty wet hair and all.....not for me....so i never got good....and then there was venice. We knew all of them, but they didnt let anybody else surf .....family or friends? ....nope....unless maybe it was a small day.....although, if you had bud for about 20 guys, you were welcomed right in....but that was about an oz in those days....so not many did that. It was funny to watch the vals come in and just paddle out. They were told to leave. If they didnt, the guys whistled up to the pier and those animals started taking their cars apart, while in the water, they were creamed every wave they caught. Different era

Waaaay back in the middle sixties while living in the O.C. a group of us would do the "Wedge". For me twice a day was enough for me. That was before body body boards and all these exotic fins. Just on Voit fin and go for it.

TheKingandrew1984 swell is about 8-10foot but when it wedges the front of them can look 20-25ft !!!

luuul sheesh it’s very dangerous to wear a leash when surfing heavy shore break! The last thing you want to happen when you get pounded is to get hit by your fiberglass surfboard!
