@@Yu-hx5jo With Russia constantly on their backs, Armenia and Azerbaijan fighting eachother, and still grappling with the effects of the 90’s and 2008 it would be stupid not to. Also, they were denied from NATO in 2008. It is the least the EU can do after they abandoned them.
Relying on Russia however, as they *obviously* do, is a very bad omen. (Abkhazia is basically the same thing that happened in “South Ossetia” , Crimea, and now the rest of Ukraine. And it’s mind blowing how many people are oblivious).

today Abkhazia is ethnically mixed with the native Abkhaz & Armenians forming the majority with smaller Russian and Georgian groups . there used to be German & Estonian communities and a large Greek one to all so a few Jews . But that is mostly all gone now.

Also, the language you speak doesn't necessarily defines your nationality, especially if you leave in the shadow of a dominating empire and used to be a part of the Soviet Union. I bet lots of Kazakhs or other former Soviet republics speak perfect Russian, that doesn't make them Russians. Let her decide if she feels Russian or Abkhazian.
You know, there are more and more people in the world that are bilingual. They speak two, some maybe more, languages on the level of its being their mother tongue. And again, there are Americans who speak only Spanish. So I'm not buying your way of thinking.
as a georgian it makes me sad knowing a chunk of georgia got taken away by russia and disguised as an independent country same as south osseatia, simply looking at the map you can obviously tell both of them fit in like puzzle pieces. in different regions of georgia some have each of their own tongue but that dosent make them independent so i wish it comes back to us someday..

1. Georgian two kingdoms (Imereti and Kartl-Kakheti) were forcefully occupied by russian empire prior to their campaign against northern cuacasus. The reason why some (and very minor number) of georgians fought alongside russians against abkhaz uprising was that abkhaz allied with ottoman turkey, country that brutalized and enslaved western georgia for 3 hundred years. Even than, fighting against uprising doesn't meen kicking people from homes. Georgians had nothing to do with Russia forcing muslim population of abkhazia out of their land, we have ottoman documents in which part of muhajirs had georgian surnames and were designated as Lazi (because megrels and Laz have almost the same language. Most of the Georgians who settled in central abkhazia, were already living in samurzakano, which was itself part of abkhazia, plus, if you have any idea what feudal system means it should be clear thar nobody asked them weather they wanted or not to settle there, so what kind of gift are we even talking about. Russia needed christian population in abkhazia to protect their imperial interests.
2. One has to have nerve to say that psycho murderers like Beria and Stalin had anything to do with Georgia except for their birthplaces. Georgia was the last nation in the caucasus standing against bolsheviks while you're beloved Lakoba was leading russians in his motherland. Stalinist regime killed and sent to Siberia more Georgians than any other people in the south caucasus. It is a total madness to identify Georgian nation to Stalinist regime. Would you say that it was Georgia who won the World war 2?

Tengiz Kitovani who decided personally, against directives of Georgian officials, to march to abkhazia first started civil war in tbilisi and did exactly the same there what he was doing in Abkhazia. Both him and Mkhedrioni bandits were as hated by most of the Georgians as they were by abkhaz. Georgian population of Abkhazia had literally nothing to do with the starting of the war and they were totally unjustly punished by the abkhaz sadists, who now are recognized as national heroes in abkhazia.

Even if nothing i have written was true, it still doesn't justify the worst war crime which is ethnic cleansing, no matter how much you try. if Ukraine starts just massacring and forcing russian population from their homes, this will be a crime against humanity, no matter who started the actual conflict.

Colonizers fleeing on their own volition is not a genocide. Ethnic cleansing may be applied, but the only genocide that happened in Abkhazia happened towards Abkhaz people in the 19th century.
Abkhazia is part of Georgia, why you don't mention that these abandoned buildings belong to ethnical Georgians, they were dislocated after ethical cleaning.

The UN General Assembly at the 77th session for the 16th time adopted a resolution recognizing the right of all Georgian refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) to return to Abkhazia and Samachablo. The official title of the resolution is “The situation of internally displaced persons and refugees from Abkhazia, Georgia, and the Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia, Georgia”.
The document was co-sponsored this year by 63 countries (last year - 61). This year, the document was supported by 100 countries - this is the largest support for Georgia since 2008, when the resolution was first submitted to the General Assembly. Azerbaijan and Türkiye also supported the resolution.
Armenia did not take part in the voting this year either. For the 16th time, there is no support for Armenia in the UN for Georgian refugees! For many years, Yerevan has been “against” the return of Georgian refugees for many years. And, in fact, even today it maintains this position, continuing to support separatism, but does not vote in sync with the Russian Federation solely as part of the “change of ally” from Russia to the countries of the West.
A total of 59 states abstained from voting for the resolution. Laos and Vietnam, who voted last year against the return of Georgian refugees, did not take part in the voting this year.
Recall that in 2022, 95 countries supported the resolution, 12 were against, 56 abstained. Armenia did not vote. In previous years, the dynamics of voting was as follows:
• In 2020, 84 countries supported the resolution, 13 were against, 78 abstained, Armenia did not vote;
• In 2019, 79 countries supported the resolution, 15 opposed, and 57 abstained. Armenia - did not vote;
• In 2018, 81 countries supported the resolution, 16 opposed, and 62 abstained. Armenia voted against the return of Georgian refugees, despite the fact that the current Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had come to power in Yerevan by that time;
• In 2017, 80 countries supported the resolution, 14 opposed, 61 abstained Armenia voted against;
• In 2016, 76 countries voted in favor of the resolution on the return of Georgian refugees, 15 voted against, 64 abstained, Armenia voted against;
• In 2015, 75 countries were in favor of the resolution, 16 were against, 78 abstained. Armenia voted against;
• In 2014, 69 countries voted in favor of the resolution on the return of Georgian refugees, 13 countries voted against and 79 countries abstained. Armenia voted against;
• In 2013, 62 countries voted in favor of the resolution on the return of Georgian refugees. 16 countries were against, 84 states abstained. Armenia voted against.
• In 2012, 60 countries voted for the return of Georgian refugees. There were 15 states against and 82 abstentions. Armenia voted against.
• In 2011, 57 countries supported the resolution, 13 countries opposed and 74 abstained. Armenia voted against.
• In 2010, the resolution was supported by 50 countries, opposed by 17 countries; 86 States abstained. Armenia voted against.
• In 2009, 48 countries voted in favor of the resolution, 19 voted against; abstained - 78; Armenia voted against.
• In 2008, only 14 countries supported the resolution on the return of Georgian refugees (that year only to Abkhazia, since the vote was taken before the August 2008 conflict), 11 states voted against and 105 abstained. Armenia voted against.
the UN really has no legitimacy in these matters they are simply rubber stamping decisions made by those communist dictators when they invented the USSR and all its borders . just look at how the UN sold out the Indigenous Armenians in NK to the Azeris = total ethnically cleansed and what did the UN do ??? nothing good .

Not Russian and Not Georgian. Abkhazia is Apsny, a native peoples of the Caucasus since time immemorial; Abkhazian language and culture is unique and occurs nowhere else in the world, except for diasporas.

If not for russian intervention abkhaz would invade the core territories of georgia. Incredibly disingenuous video, completely emitting that those 200 K refugees were Georgian. And that 50K Georgians who live in Abkhazia live in terror, and under de facto Abkhazian law, they are not considered to be under the protection of civil and human law. They completely ignore that Abkhazian side violated a ceasefire on 3 separate occasions, most notably at Sokhumi, when Abkhazians attacked civilians. Or how about when only 15% of Abkhazian army was made up of Abkhaz. The rest were Russia or North Caucasian mercenaries.
This video tries to portray Abkhazia as a victim who is caught between Georgia and Russia, but the reality is that Abkhazia ethnically cleansed 200 000 Georgian people from their historic homeland, massacred tens of thousands of innocents with the help of Russia, became a Russia vassal and continues its attempt to ethnically erase the remaining 50 000 Georgians.
This video is awful, and I feel ashamed for whoever wrote this. because it has a very clear anti-Georgian bias and purpose scews facts to protect their agenda.

Refugees from Abkhazia: Armenia stabbed Georgia in the back
In Tbilisi, IDPs from Abkhazia held a protest action in front of the Armenian embassy. The protesters expressed their protest against the obstacles caused by Armenia to the citizens of Georgia, who wish to return to their native lands, which are currently under occupation.
Indeed, Armenia is making an invaluable contribution to the continuation of the occupation by voting against the territorial integrity of Georgia in international organizations again and again.
Thus, in early June, Armenia for the tenth time said no to the return of Georgian refugees to the occupied territories of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region. Armenians staged a separatist farce in Abkhazia

The Armenian community of Abkhazia tried to present the case in such a way that it was about one "renegade", and all of them, they say, are very fond of the Abkhazians and "tremblingly" refer to the symbol of this separatist sub-state, under which they fought together with the Abkhazians against Georgia.

What really happened was that Majority of the population of Abkhazia were Georgians forming over 45% in 1989 and basically same as Russians(14%), Abkhazians(17%) and Armenians(14%) combined, but after the war and Genocide of Georgians by those 3 groups, Georgians who survived had to leave their homes and spread across rest of the Georgian regions. Currently Abkhazia might be occupied but not for a long. Economy of Abkhazia is Scrambled, life is shit there and people are basically starving. Even though things they did, Georgia still provides most of the electricity they use in their country and also Universal free public Healthcare of Georgia is still used by people living in Abkhazia and no one knows why Georgian government is not cutting all those benefits which should be provided to only Georgian taxpayers and not fucking orcas and murderers. The propaganda machine of separatism and extremism by the "Armenian community of Georgia" must be stopped. In Georgia, all peoples, all ethnic groups can and will coexist in peace and harmony, and this is facilitated by the Georgian Constitution of the country. The Armenian people must step back and tear off the ideology of the “sacrificial people”, from the extremist elements and propagandists of separatism once and for all in the Caucasus.
The size of Abkhazia was used to proportionately judge the possibility of Circassia uniting and having to deal with sizable groups within its territory who also want to be recognized as independent. Balkars talk about Balkaria and the areas in Elbrus are Turkic. It means independence from Russia in the Northern Caucasus will happen when the Turkic peoples stop trusting the Circassians are not lazy and forgetful people. What needs to happen in Circassia is two fold. One, the Circassian language should be spoken by all residents, and two, they should also know English. Russian is not the dominantly spoken language here. It will make the country modern and bias toward Circassian mythologies naturally. Not all Circassians are fanatic Muslims. In fact I think most Adighas are syncretic.

Like other separatists, they are “Artsakh”, whom, they say, the Georgians should help and “protect from genocide”.
However, the facts testify otherwise - the policy of the Armenian nationalists in different parts of not only Georgia, but throughout the globe is fully coordinated and coordinated from the same centers. And their main goal is to “cleanse” the territories that Armenian nationalists liked from people of non-Armenian origin.
In relation to the Georgian territories, the Armenian extremists of Abkhazia and Samtskhe-Javakheti initially acted in complete coordination. “... There were two large and equally influential communities in Abkhazia, which, to put it mildly, did not quite get along with each other. "Krunk" in Sukhumi, under the leadership of Vladislav Ardzinba's associate Albert Topolyan, was an authoritarian politicized structure. And the Gagrinskaya "Mashtots" under the leadership of Arsen Chakryan is more democratic and independent. Albert Topolyan continuously tried to crush the Gagrinskys under his "Krunk". This was both before the war and during the war.
Despite the fact that the battalion was created by the efforts of Albert Topolyan, the influence of the Mashtots functionaries in it was very strong. In fact, the battalion became the armed force of the Gagra district community. Mashtots activists tried their hand a couple of years before the war, of course, also under tragic circumstances.
There was a well-known episode in the history of the USSR, when Meskhetian Turks returned to Georgia from exile. They went through the Krasnodar Territory and Abkhazia. Here, on the border with Abkhazia, they were met by the armed Armenians of "Mashtots". The Turks then didn’t even go to Georgia, despite the arrival of units of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs…”
This passage completely exposes, firstly, the lie of the Armenian nationalists that, they say, the Abkhazian Armenian terrorist groups at first “did not even think” to participate in the separatist war, but then allegedly “forced” to join it, solely because of those who had in relation to Armenians "atrocities" of the Georgian army and armed formations. In reality, the Armenian nationalists created their illegal armed formations in Abkhazia, on the territory of Georgia long before the start of the separatist war. And even "competed" with each other in the dominance of these illegal paramilitaries in the region.
The Armenian gangs "Krunk" (in fact, a branch of the separatist Karabakh "Krunk") and "Mashtots" in Abkhazia were armed even before the Abkhazian separatists themselves began to arm themselves. And the Abkhazians, drugged by separatism, began to arm themselves precisely under the influence and according to the Armenian plans of inciting separatist conflicts, by analogy with the “Artsakh” one.
In addition, it should be taken into account that the Meskhetians themselves are an ethnic group of mixed Georgian-Turkic origin. Many Meskhetians are aware of their Georgian roots, consider themselves Muslim Georgians, and are no different from other Muslim Georgians, the Adjarians. It was these Meskhetians (who are aware of their Georgian origin) who first of all wanted to return to Georgia after the tragic events in Fergana.
The Georgian authorities then, despite the hysterical cries of the Armenian nationalists about the "Turkish threat", met them halfway, met and helped them settle in their native land, which the repatriates considered an integral part of United Georgia (unlike the Armenian nationalists, who consider Samtskhe-Javakheti "primordially Armenian "Javakhkom").
Obviously, it is not up to the Armenian nationalists to decide who lives on Georgian soil and who does not! In the case of the Meskhetian Turks, this issue can concern only the Georgian and Turkish peoples. What right do Armenian nationalists have to dispose of foreign land when they themselves settled on this land during the years of the Russian Empire, and in the case of Javakheti, where Muslim Georgians expelled by Russian colonialists to Turkey used to live?
Also, from the above passage from the story of Valeria Olyunina, it is clear that even then the USSR authorities patronized the Armenian nationalists. And instead of disarming illegal armed extremist formations that violate the rights of Soviet citizens to free movement across the territory of the USSR, they did not even allow parts of the internal troops of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs to disarm the presumptuous Armenian nationalists.
