I’ve watched a few of these videos on the Polaris and the only reasons I can see someone buying one is if 1, they’re a RUclipsr and they need some content to film. 2, they’re a fabrication company trying to promote a new vehicle to sell new parts or 3, they just have money to waste. You can buy a rubicon or Toyota and upgrade the shocks for around the same price you’re gonna spend on putting 37s and making it wider. To each his own
You forgot to add that elephant in the room of having something you need to tow down the road for the price of something that can tow other things down the road
Maybe a 1995 jeep for $3k then add $30k in parts. This argument is so dumb. These machines are ridiculously priced don't get me wrong but they are purpose built machines.
@@jonnyg6001 what are you talking about? Why buy a 95 jeep and modify that much? The guy in the video mentioned he was going to make it wider and fit 37s. So I said why not just buy a new rubicon and upgrade the shocks. Less modifications with similar results but the jeep won’t have to be towed to go wheeling. Seems like a pretty fair comparison since this video was comparing a jeep to the Xpedition
And way cheaper than what just the price of the Polaris ranger is. That’s around $50-60k then they’re going to upgrade it. A Jeep can be had way more economically. Just say I wanted one of these and be done. If you’re going to drive like that down a logging road won’t be much left after a couple trips in your glorified ranger.
If you're going to put 37" tires on that, you better remember to upgrade a lot of other components, are you're going be breaking a lot of stuff. Including gears, transmission, etc That's going to be a huge weight difference. It's going to kill your power too.
I’ll add that the video was well done. Very good job explaining why this vehicle crushes the Jeep and in what areas. Being a western hunter I’d love one of these obviously but for me it’s about finding the one vehicle that does it all. That’s all I meant earlier.
Which one will be worth more after 5000 miles? I have 60 acres and very large home…i am one of the few people who can literally go in my backyard and use this….and i would rather buy a 15k utv…i could afford this many times over, but i feel there are better toys i would rather buy that would be more fun.
Stumbled onto this channel just now and I’m thinking wow this place looks familiar and then I see that Icon Trussville sign. Wasn’t expecting that. I’ve lived in Trussville for 30 years. Pretty cool.
I also have a Gladiator and when i get off the trail, i blasted down the Interstate to a restaurant and had dinner. Cant really do that in a SXS, and the only downside is i have to drive slower on the trails then that is totally worth it.
You will be putting in a lot of money to have that expedition reliable enough to run on 37s. Just buy some coilovers for the jeep and it'll ride as smooth as the sxs and it will handle 37s no problem. Also, you can drive to and from the trail with your jeep.
I bought the XP5 Northstar. You guys need to load it up and head to Northern Wisconsin to ride the trails up there. We take 2 or 3 32' goosenecks full of side by sides every August and head up there. basically, bar hop from town to town, everyone is friendly, and the towns cater to the side-by-side crowds.
@@rockyhollowmetal7263 The Great Northern Hotel in Mercer WI has enough room for the Semi. My Dually and Gooseneck is 58' long together and we can turn 2 around at the same time in their extended parking lot area with ease. We have a group of 16-24 guys going up August 15-18 this year its going to be great.
That thing is loud but some dyno mat can solve that but it honestly sounded like it needed to shift. Id put a lift kit on it cause it doesnt look like it has enough ground clearance for the long wheel base.
Independent suspension vehicles are naturally better for higher speed off-roading than vehicles with solid axles. They're two completely different styles of vehicle intended for different applications.
Why does everyone compare everything to a Jeep? It’s NOT hard at all to build something more capable than a Jeep. What IS hard, is building something as capable AND affordable as a Jeep used to be. “Jeep” hasn’t even been able to do this for nearly twenty years now.
and one will last you 10-20k miles the other 100k+. I have a trail RZR and looking at purchasing a newer SxS with a cab since we can leave straight from our house and be at 9,000 feet on Forest Service trails in about 30 min. Don't currently have a Jeep but have owned a few Wranglers. Like a lot of people that is a lot of money to spend on a SxS, especially when you consider they don't last as long as a vehicle. I think my compromise will be to buy a used SxS and a used Rubicon.
I’m surprised how ouch better it performs than a Jeep. My first question you answered right away about the back hatch. Makes sense to keep your items out of the weather.
Funny reading the comments. Reality is money is relative to where you are in life. It is what it is. Jeeps out here the sw are fine, but like he said, slow as …. . Ride like …. . Still cool though. Me, rzr pro 4 ult, modded. Unreal machine. Downside, exposure depending on weather. Upside, everything else. Insane offroad sxs. The xpedition is really cool, and I’d mod it as well to your liking. My only wish would be they(polaris) had put the pro r motor in it. Heck, take a pro r 4, and fully enclose it. I’d buy that in a heartbeat. Great video.
I’ve had and seen way too many Polaris SXS,s have catastrophic failures doing very mundane task to ever buy another one. They cheap out on critical components that require a tow to the garage to fix and will leave you stranded in the worst places.
Good video. I liked it and will watch the progress. That said, most do not have the money to blow on a toy like that. Now take the xp down the highway for three hours at 75mph. Be straight, you build parts and wanted a toy. Own it, but don't try and justify it. It's ok to want a toy. Anything over three hours in a jeep, I prefer my 2500. Lol. I have toys as well but own the fact that my jeep does more and is a better overall purchase for the same cost as my toys. Looking forward to the build.
So they compared a straight axel Jeep to a vehicle with independent suspension set up for pre-running and they are surprised how much smoother it is at high speed trail running. Derp. You have a vehicle set up for day to day use that can be used on road or off and you have an off road only vehicle set up to go fast off road. It’s like comparing apples to toasters.
I have NO idea what anyone compares a dedicated off road machine to a 70% offroad machine the jeep is. There is no comparison, the jeep needs 30k or more in suspension mods to get close to a stock sxs capability.
I was watching your video and was like....what...I bought my SxS from the same place!!! Anyways I went with a Honda Talon 4 Seater, and so far have enjoyed it.
Road suspension vs off road suspension. Buy a used jeep swap out suspension. Save yourself 50k on a toy, trailer, etc. Not to mention the look of that polaris and the longevity disadvantage.
I think you two are a trip ! But really im a blue collar guy I couldn’t see the advantage of a off road vehicle that expensive ! The Jeep or something else i can drive to the woods is a better deal ! That said having a quad runner to me is a go most anywhere set up but that gets expensive too with buying A quad runner and a trailer and a Jeep that’s one reason or many reasons I’ve stayed out of it ! To each there own if ya like it and is in your financial reach go for it ! Take care
Don't own either but resale definitely goes to the JEEP. If one has to much money then by all means waste your money on anything you want. If you have to finance this then your screws are loose.
It's nice....but's it's a belt driven UTV @ the price of an automobile "Jeep". So, it's a no for me. FYI the reason the UTV rides so much better.. it weighs 4,000lbs less. But, with some serious $$ in Shocks could improve that dramatically.
I have an old jeep wrangler stock with 33's,can drive it anywhere with heat and air. Also have polaris ranger. Like them both ,but completely different machines. Don't have 20k in both. Wouldn't give 50k for both new! Just my thoughts.
I’m gonna have to say, and I probably catch some sh¡t for this but I’m more than middle aged now and I’ve learned that your wife is right when you leave things the way the come from the factory vehicles etc they tend to not tear up.😂
I bought a jeep, because I don’t need a truck and trailer to haul a non-road certifiable vehicle to where I want to play with it. I have no idea what the need is to rip up the countryside fast in the first place, Especially with all the noise racket, that thing makes. The only purpose, for that would be a tax write off maybe?
This comparison shouldn't even be considered a comparison, it's very one sided. The Polaris only makes sense when you have enough money to burn on one.
$50k? Hell to the Naw Naw
Now let's see a comparison of driving 200 miles on the interstate to a trail...

Yeah and don’t forget longevity and resale value. These things are basically all plastic and are pretty much worthless in a few years.

I own a gladiator and it’s basically a SXS. Speed however is completely different. But it’ll go anywhere.
I also have a Gladiator and when i get off the trail, i blasted down the Interstate to a restaurant and had dinner. Cant really do that in a SXS, and the only downside is i have to drive slower on the trails then that is totally worth it.
Nice but at $59,618 Canadian $$ for a "toy" it's a whole bunch of outta reach for "joe public" in my opinion
Add the snowplow and it jumps to $63,494

All it needs is portals…
Solid axle will never ride as smooth as independent suspension
Check out the Genrite elite suspension system for Jeeps!

That thing looks like a lot of fun! Great to go on a camping trip in.
Yes sir. Keep it all dry!
I picked up a 97 Wrangler a few years ago. Put about 3k into it. Goes anywhere even the highway.
It's a toy folks. We don't buy them because we need them....because we can🤣. Great vid guys👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
That thing is loud but some dyno mat can solve that but it honestly sounded like it needed to shift. Id put a lift kit on it cause it doesnt look like it has enough ground clearance for the long wheel base.
It is kind of low. They made a new clutch kit to gear it up a little
I can’t get over how loud it is! Wow
Might as well be an open cab lol
You both are hilarious. Super fun video. This thing is bad ass. Cannot wait to see how you mod this up.
Appreciate it buddy!
I like this lady, her and I think alike! Be thankful for the new toy & leave it the heck alone!!
Independent suspension vehicles are naturally better for higher speed off-roading than vehicles with solid axles. They're two completely different styles of vehicle intended for different applications.
Agree with the post above....you really are comparing apples to oranges.
How's the maintenance look during the first 100,000 miles?
I give the polaris maybe 20k before the engine needs a rebuild
Why does everyone compare everything to a Jeep? It’s NOT hard at all to build something more capable than a Jeep. What IS hard, is building something as capable AND affordable as a Jeep used to be. “Jeep” hasn’t even been able to do this for nearly twenty years now.
solid axles suck at high speed hits coz of unsprung weight of the heavy solid axles, but solid axles have better articulation and are more robust
You should have a lot of money, those UTV are pretty expensive. Not averybody spent 60k on a UTV

I made my roxor street legal in Texas, I wonder if I can make the adv street legal, I saw there's a kit for the adv with blinkers and brake lights.
Think you'll get over 100,000 miles out of that Polaris?
You won't on the jeep lol
That was an amazing comparison. U have a hell of a test loop

Live in North Idaho and Quads and side by sides are street legal on roads with speed limits of 50 mph or less
Good vid. Look forward to seeing what you do with it, also that first weekend as bone stock and how it performed…

Is that their house cat wandering through at 11:58 or a something else a little more wild?
Cool cat.
Id love to get one but i wish you could get a real transmission in them, auto or standard.
To bad it didn’t have the pro r motor in it.
Gotta take the sway bars off the jeep to even remotely compare it to the Polaris off road.
Royal Farms gas station up in Maryland uses Yellow for diesel nozzles. So stupid.
But you can't take that ATV down the Highway to the ORV park.. ;)

3:31 lol, reminds me of an old George Jones song " The Corvette."
After all the upgrades how much will you have into it? $65k?

See which one gets you further down the road...oh wait one of them can't drive anywhere without a second vehicle to tow it around.... hmmm 🤔
We're starting to blur the lines between video games and real life with the level of comfort in the experience
That motor is never going to move 37" tires reliably especially with a belt transmission.

Is it even a convertible?
When you coming out with new update videos?
Hello, we are MoGerTor team, can we invite you test the UTV items?
Where do you find the strap kit for the back doors?
Comparison makes no sense to me. I am not putting down either one. Just two different things.
The Jeeps speedometer is 7 or 8mph off. Maybe more
what's its under carriage like? Full skid plate?
Nice ride!
We love it. Gotta get some of that long travel next.

No doubt!!!
