Do note that in a group, the game prioritizes your fields for you to combo on. Also, there are certain bundles you can buy from npcs that produce combo fields, such as the healing seed pod with a water field.
I just went through the combat field training section in EoD and finished the quest having absolutely no idea what had just happened. This cleared that all up for me nice and quick. Thanks for the info! Im actually learning what thing do!
+1 info for group content: Your finishers will prioritize YOUR field(s) if there is any. So learn your own combos and use those, dont worry about other ppl’s fields that much. If you placing multiple fields the older one will be the one you trigger, as He said in the video. If you not placing any field your finishers will trigger the oldest active field from other players in GROUP, and if noone in your grp placed any field it will trigger fields from ppl NOT IN GROUP. So Your fields > Group fields > Non group fields and within this prio rule Older fields > New fields Fellow elementalists! RISE!!!!!
This is what I initially thought the Catalyst was going to focus on - fields (from the Jade Spheres) and finishers (from the hammer). That obviously didn't happen, but it would have been cool.
Catalyst entirelly built around combos. You generate elemental empowerment (EE) per combo. EE stacks, each stack is independent (not refreshes) and increase all stats by 1% and if you reach 10 stacks it doubles the effect and it gives 20% all stat. The main focus of Catalyst gameplay is to maintain 10 stacks with as much uptime as possible. So Cata relies on combos very significantly.
@@CaffeinatedDad on Catalyst every combo gives dmg reduction, dmg increase, all stat increase, stabilty and auras. I cant imagine how combos could be more significant. No other class/spec has even the fraction of this sinergy with combos.
This is incomplete. What if I shoot a poison arrow through a fire field, does it become a fire arrow or Burning Toxic Arrow of Death? Example: Ranger's Shortbow skill #2 Poison Volley through a fire field -- what happens?
It's not incomplete, it's just that not all weaponskills are combo finishers. Ranger shortbow #2 Poison Volley is not a combo finisher and therefore has no effect on a combo field. It just does its normal effect.
@@moominpappa72 That's exactly my point, that information is missing from this video. The skill needs to state that it can combo. Otherwise, even if it is a projectile, it won't combo unless the skill says it can.
He keeps repeating the fact that he's talking about combo finishers. But you have a point, his guide is not idiot proof and the people who don't read their skills wouldn't understand the context. But then those people wouldn't bother trying to understand combo fields in the first place.
@@EnzoVinZ He's talking about combos though. If something isn't a combo, then it shouldn't be in the video because it doesn't do anything different with fields. 😅 This comment makes no sense
I mean the new dlc gives you a new map, some new features and new specializations but honestly you can do most content without. I will say they did include a number of great strike missions eith eod!
interesting i never see the announcements like "area blindness" (1:45) or I've become to focused on other things like skills keys or i have it in settings wrong?
It should automatically show up in the base settings. It does however depend on what field your blasting/which finisher you use to blast it. (area stealth, healing bolts, and area might are usually the most common )
I have problem and i dont find any help for it, i play with scrapper that has aton of fields and most of them work just fine. But when i try water field with every possible finisher saying "regeneration" or "Remove condition" they are just not working / doing anything expect overwrite other combofields that do work. not to allies or to myself.
Ok got it, smash face on keyboard and roll until you get the desired finisher. Just goes to show you that you don't need 25 abilities to gain complexity in combat.
There's a hidden complexity of course but arguably the best part is the fact that you can do basically every end game content without issue not knowing this
Well, each character has 10 abilities, and you can switch weapons to get 5 more. And of course, some classes have even more when they go into special forms or by switching other gear/items. So each character will have at least 15 abilities to choose from at any one time. Couple that with the combat actually relying on constantly moving and dodging, I think it's plenty complex. If it were any more complex, many would be overwhelmed imo

Hey I'm happy to help!
THIS HELPED A LOT!! TYTYTY!! I was trying SO many different combos and couldn't figure out what procted to force fields
Happy to help! They don't really talk about it!
im new and your videos are a huge help. thank you and keep it up
Happy to help!
whoa, I didn‘t even know that this exists, that explains my fire bubble that comes out of nowhere
There's a whole nother layer underneath the games combat systems!
i always knew these existed but had no idea how in depth they were. great video! im going to mess around with my class more now
Happy to help!

Well said!
Really clicked for me when I played reaper for the first time and you have your whirlwind combined with a field for that sweet sweet leeching bolts.
It's good to know once you see them! Also that's the only whirl that necromancwra get I believe!
Your personal combo fields have priority when checking for a combo interaction...other people will never steal your combos
Agreed! Updated the pin as I forgot to mention!

I mean some of the hammer has finishers baked in, whirls, blasts projectiles leaps and such, they are not as necessary as I had hoped to be honest!

No other class/spec has even the fraction of this sinergy with combos.
Starting off with "your playing GW2" is... Agree that this is an obscure, yet important feature, though. Good video.
Hey thanks! Happy to help!
As a note* combo fields prioritize your fields versus others!
Do these things first when you hit max level!

True! Only in certain situations it would appear

I thinking about coming back to GW2 but i have the first 2 DLC do i really need the new one ? or these two DLC is enough ?

It should pop up baseline and alert you to the combo that you completed!
i wish game showed how to use combo fields early in game , especially for ele players its very crucial.
I mean it literally does with a pop up.
There is a pop up that showcases this but I agree the game could do a better job explaining it!
This is great but could you explain what the different auras do?
That may be an interesting youtube short! Don't believe it's long enough to fit a full length video!
How do you display health Bars over the players heads?
It's a keybind I believe I have it set to tab?

almost 300 hours in game and just now learn what combo fields are 🤣🤣
I had to make this video to know what they were lol
dont have to worry about combos if you play scourge XD
Loool I mean...
I hate devs of this game so much it's unreal
I like the video but the title is stupid
I'm known for pretty stupid titles lol
