- Jim walks you through how to install a windshield. This process is pretty universal as far as installing glass windows so even if you don't have a Bronco, this should work.

I just installed a new windshield on my 76 today using this video for reference. Keep those tech videos coming WH. Worked like a charm. Couldn't find cotton rope so I just used nylon/poly rope of the same diameter. Just go slow and you'll be fine. It took me about 5 times as long to get it done because of the rope, but same result. No snags or tears. I did it with the dash pad installed but no top on. 1 guy on each side holding the windshield is a must IMO.
Pull the rope toward the center of the windshield not away from the glass/frame, then you won't tear the gasket. Spray regular glass cleaner on the gasket, it will lube it up nice, then it will evaporate and not leave a mess. I agree 100%, with staying in the middle of the bottom first, and end at the top middle. It's totally doable...Just don't rush it and be careful pressing on the glass while roping it in, you definitely don't want to crack it and start over. ;) good luck to ya.
Thanks for the advice!
Excellent video I'm getting ready to put my windshield in on my 77 Toyota truck, this definitely help me out.
i followed your instuctions and it worked, thanks for the video. you guys are great!
Awesome to hear! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing your expertise. I'll give it a try.
Great video I’ll be installing my windshield soon in my bronco (I’ve got a 1970)
This is the prefered method for any glass that has a gasket type seal. I used the same method to install the quarter glass in a 97 Cherokee.
thanx for saving them broncos
Did you soap the rope ?
Your not in the shower together!😂
are those runs in the paint or did you just paint over the original paint without sanding?
Great Video!
Great video, thanks for sharing I sure I will use that in the future.
Should you use sealant ?
try go jo [lube] and a 1/8 inch thinner rope 40 years in the biz [f/b mikes autoglassworks]
Sorry not sure on the jeep but many flat panel auto glass installs are done just like this one.
How much more difficult is this with a dash pad and top installed? Is this how these are typically installed or is this a new technique you came up with?
Great thanks for the help. Is it the same install for a jeep
can you talk about or show how to do the chrome trim strips for the windshield
Yeah, please show how to actually put the gasket that accepts chrome and the chrome installation. I would think the lip of the chrome should go into the gasket prior to installing the gasket because it appears that once the gasket is installed onto the glass that the glass presses against the lip of the chrome which holds it in place but I have spent several hours trying to get it on and have not been able to get it on without the chrome falling back out.
start at bottom first let gravity work for you
We appreciate the insight, Mike. We always like hearing from the vets of the business!
Exactly 😂
Would a little soapy water help work the seal?
Never found it necessary but it can't hurt.
Does it need a any sealer/rtv ?
No it does not :)
@@tiko4337 Check the service manual on what vehicle you're installing. I know some older Land Cruisers require urethane sealer along with the gaskets or it wont seal properly.
