That bit of commentary by Bill Lawry, when Merv Hughes bowled Mike Gatting with the last ball of the day in the 1993 Ashes, is one of the most iconic ever. Typical Bill Lawry, it’s what made him one of the best.
I’d call it the Australia vs West Indies rivalry, guys! 00:01:49 Mark Taylor: Mark Waugh doesn’t drop too many, folks! 00:17:30 Bill Lawry: Steve Waugh has won the toss and Australia are gonna bowl first, folks! 00:17:42 John Hampshire said that’s out! 00:18:02 Ian Healy: The Aussies don’t think so, folks, neither does Hampshire! One for one!
00:25:50-00:25:53 Gone, is it?!?!?! Yes, it is, that's well bowled so the veteran gets Steven Waugh! 00:26:31 Knocked him over! Look at the reaction from Big Marlon Black! The big man's got Ricky Ponting! 01:04:04 Got him, folks, got him this time! First wicket down for the Aussies! Lara takes a catch and Dillon's got a wicket for the Windies! 01:04:19 Well bowled, Merv! 01:05:43 Got him! Got him this time! The West Indian captain's got a wicket for his team! 01:20:31 He'd be able to go up to him and apologise now and say, "Bro, that shoulda been yours!" 01:22:19-01:22:25 Oh, big appeal for LBW and this umpire's givin' him! The big man's got a wicket for the Windies! We cannot review that!
00:06:08 Well, umpire Harper has been uh called into action again! 00:09:31-00:09:37-00:09:40-00:09:41 Gone, is he?! Was it a bump ball?! We just need to wait and see! Slater's moving! Yes, he is, he's gone! He's been judged out! Well, I didn't see the umpire's finger go up there - just shook his head so Slater goes and Black gets the breakthrough they badly need! 00:09:46 That's Marlon Black's first test wicket and not a bad wicket to get as well! 00:25:19 Got him, got him this time!
THE ANSETT AUSTRALIA SERIES 2000 !! I CAN STILL REMEMBER THE BLACK DAY OF CARRIBBEAN CRICKET HAD STARTED JUST BEFORE THIS SERIES & IT IS STILL CONTINUE NOW !! ONLY SIVNARINE CHANDERPAUL , BRIAN LARA & RAMNARESH SARWAN PLAYED SO MANY DAYS !!
It breaks my heart to see WI cricket like this, as others have said in the comments, it has only got worse. The odd test win is celebrated when their heritage was winning series.
@@jaydemartin2622 in tests, they were still a good side despite the slide in ODI cricket. Credit must be given to Netherlands who played out of their skins to beat WI in the qualifiers.
David Hookes, the late Australia test batsman stated in 2000 before this series West Indies did not deserve 5 Tests and offered no challenge. Yeah, nobody disagreed.as West lndies lost 5-0.
I actually think McGrath was at his peak the year before. He was masterful in the WI in 1999. Took a fiver in most of the innings he bowled in. This was a much weaker WI team though. No Ambrose, Walsh was their but there wasn’t anything after.
@@juanestadian8471you are totally correct. Unfortunately the West Indies didn't have any world class replacements for the great players that had retired. The conveyor belt of world class talent that they had in the late 1970's and 1980's had dried up.
@@mrkipling2201 exactly. I remember, even though I was only a little boy, less than ten, wondering what would happen after Ambi and Walsh retired. Those two gentlemen went way past the typical time limit of a paceman, simply because they loved WI cricket that much. Ambrose was still exceptional when he retired and Walsh was actually getting better as a bowler when he retired. I think though the constant beating started to get to them though
West Indies got absolutely pummelled. Imagine having to sit through 5 Tests of that rubbish. First Test, first day and they were bowled out for 82 with 5 ducks.
West Indies were playing a team of world class players, while they only had 2, maybe 3, world class players themselves. With one of them at the end of his career. A total mismatch unfortunately. Although a lot of the games Australia played back then were a mismatch!!
What a game it would have been if this great Australia team played the great West Indies team of the early 1980’s.

Only exceeded by Bills commentary of Lillee bowling Viv Richards off the last ball of the day, boxing day test (1981 ?)
@@rocknralthats a great shout, I agree with you.
I remember this series now

West Indies demise had begun a year before in 1998 South Africa tour.
Excellent upload 😍😍

If anyone wants to know the time West Indies cricket destruction started , look no further. Forever in a nosedive since. !
Actually it started after 1996 WC semi defeat to Australia.
It’s crazy how far there fallen. Didn’t even qualify for The 2023 World Cup

Brother, please make a video of 2015 aus vs wi series which was in west Indies, 2 match test series..
The lee ball was at 161.8.?
Yes I also checked that got the wicket
Old match is good great match 1990
This FINAL WICKET IN the worst indies 1st innings , Brett Lee bowled at 161.8 km/h...The FASTEST BALL IN ALL HISTORY..

43:58 why on earth did Haydos stop halfway, even with the confusion he should have kept running. By doing that he could have made it to the other end.

1st Test, McGrath 10 for 27: ridiculous match haul!
3rd test match at Adelaide was really close .

Another series coming up in 2024. Let's see how WI cope up with Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins and Lyon.
Starting off in Brisbane or Perth for a touring side is not easy against the swinging ball.

Lara got out so kany times man he was bamboozled by a bit of extra bounce evey single time😢
I remember this series well...Wes Indies played nothing at all..
Lets be honest...terrible pitches with uneven bounce were also responsible for the success of WI pace battery..
What a typically biased editing in favour of Australia. Shot scoring when Australia bats & wickets when WI bats. Loathsome Aussies as ever
That’s what tends to happen when you lose a series 5-0.
