Personally I like some elements of pocket; no prize cards, lower power level, energy not being cards you run. However there’s some flaws; many types feel unfinished compared to electric, misty and Moltres EX being energy acceleration reliant on coin flips can cost your the game on bad luck. Time gating the packs can make rapid progression happen early with all the resources but if you’re unlucky you will not be able to get a good deck going. I think it will get much better as the game gets more cards and sets. Dark, Metal, and Fighting need some more support printed for them, and when they get it they may be really powerful
Have I enjoyed my time with the app? Mostly… Do I think it’s a good game? No. The card pool right now is way to shallow to do anything but the most meta decks and booster opening is so slow that it’s nearly impossible to get the meta decks without paying. Secondly, the way they’ve altered the game play is mostly good, but have some MAJOR problems. The inability to decide what type of energy you attach for that turn immensely deincentivizes mixing types. And my biggest issue is that the first turn is maybe the most unbalanced first turn in any card game ever. Going first should not result in you basically bricking every other game. It’s often way too hard to claw back from my opponent attaching an energy and attacking in their first turn.
Really high potential but the current monetization structure will result in the game dying out very quickly. Needs a proper ranked and maybe battle pass like master duel. Probably needs some rebalancing too tbh.
At the moment you play Pikachu/Zapdos, Mewtwo/Gardevoir or Articuno/Starmie if you're playing the meta. Or you play Charizard/Moltres, or Marowak/Primape or maybe Venusaur/Exeggutor for the semi meta.
I've invested everything into the pikachu packs to make the decks i wanted, raichu electrode w/pikachu ex and also got zapdos ex, and then blastoise ex deck.
I've managed to build a full Mewtwo and gardeviour deck as a free to play player. I've gotten very lucky with wonder picks, which got me 1 of my mewtwos and 1 of my gardies. Honestly I think re rolling is a waste of time, I only got a venasaur ex and marrowack ex from my first couple of packs but I just grinded out the solo battles and put all my resources towards Mewtwo packs. I was able to build the full deck after 4 days of playing. Ultimately I think re rolling is a waste of time, yes you want to get lucky at the start but it doesn't matter in the long run because your luck evens out anyway.
How is that even possible? I have spent £40 I’m at level 19 and got so many cards enough to make multiple meta decks, no way you spent a couple hundred and only hit level 14 bro xp is earned opening packs lol

It has a hearty amount of room to grow. That’s not to say it’s bad.

@@sox4954 I agree been playing for free for 3 days I'm level 16... But the game is still bad like really bad
Oh it's a 1h podcast ...
I think they could make ex Pokemon be worth 3 prizes so it's very punishing if they lead with them
