And that she will from now on never give up pieces of herself for another man. Man, that scene was so courageous, and emotional, and RAWWWW Feminine Power!!!
Yuk, Amelia is the worst. I was totally done with her when she had Link pretend to be Owen to her family. What sane adult does this? Now she realizes her baby might not be Link's. She is so irresponsible, reckless. 4 weeks separated Owen and Link and it never occurred to her? Didn't she realize she missed her period a long time ago. I always felt she was a flake and she keeps proving me right
Nikki Henry Actually I asked my mom that, because I thought the exact same thing and she told me, “No they would. For that kind of case; they would absolutely do that.”
Nikki Henry you’d be surprised how many people can be freed up for a minute in a hospital. I work in one and there are lots of people who aren’t chained to a computer or the sole provider for a patient. And it would take less than one minute out of your day.
ok but she acted like mer should have to choose between motherhood and her career and as of she was above her cause she didn't what kids not that's bad but no one said that too. Derek
YAAAAAS. Every time she walked into the room she exuded this "don't fuck with me" vibe and I was living for it. Honestly she was a badass Latina character
What do u expect lol Derek is kinda trash. He lied to Meredith for months, was absolutely butthurt about being cheated on in a relationship he didn’t invest in whatsoever, strung Addison along for a year while he was openly flirting with Meredith and didn’t give a crap about how that was hurting his wife, eventually cheated himself and he was slutshaming his partners on several occasions. He’s a hypocrite.
fact: ellen(merideth grey) was paid LESS than patrick dempsey(derek shepherd). she demanded to be paid more but her request was refused she when she asked patrick for support he didn't show an ounce of interest. now he is written off the show and ellen receives the salary she deserves.
I actually miss Ellen’s acting from the earlier seasons. In the last few seasons she seems more of a side character without any serious scenes showcasing her acting
@@leonm.goldsteinhighschoolf8254 I didn’t like that a court room allowed it. She never seems to have consequences for her actions. Also she maybe angry he contributed to Dereks death but in that same breath she ticked off all the people she was responsible for. Hypocritical.
The scene with Izzy she says, "Just remember that while your sitting on a 200k in student loan, Im out of debt" I have nothing to say, that was amazing!!
I love moment 6. I truly expected Meredith not to end up with Derek because, frankly, he f***ed up real bad. And I think sometimes people forgets how he lied to her, made her a mistress, shamed her when she wanted to move on...ugh. Thank God for fanfiction. Edit: First time I got so many likes, hahahaha! Thanks.
Stephanie Manrique Yup. I had been waiting for/wanting Derek to die or them to split for real since the second season. His departure was an actual party.
I know right, he was a horrible person I was glad when they killed him off. That was an extremely unhealthy relationship from the start, she is much better off without him.
@Anna Mauricio I agree with you about the separation, but if you are with a married man, this one being separated or not, it does turn you into the other woman. Besides, Derek had literally ran away from the issue and Addie went back to finally get a proper closure. Either divorce me or stay with me, and he wasn't sure! I mean, I understand the "I deserve a moment of pause to decide whether I'm divorcing my wife after spending X Christmases, Thanksgivings and etc., with" but he shouldn't had formed a new relationship, a whole huge 'I'm starting to need space in your drawer' relationship if he had that unfinished business! You wanna f**k around to get even with your cheating wife? Fine. Wanna feel like the man because of it? That's great, I'm all for it. But you don't go with the whole flowers and chocolates with a new girl without having cut ties with the previous chapter of your life. Sorry for the rant 😅
I also loved the scene when Dr. Hahn confronts the chief for doubting her surgery choices because she's a woman but never asked a ques to other male surgery heads.
And he made multiple comments about it’s just not natural or Cristina was just crazy because all women want babies. He pisses me off especially in this past episode with Amelia I and the patient who flung herself down the stairs to abort
everyone thinks that, and it's honestly offensive. Why does nobody say that when someone gushes over someone else's baby? "oh sure, they are cute, but when you start really enjoying your own life, you'll change your mind about having that anchor around your neck".
VERY disappointed that this didn’t include the scene where Jo made a hall filled with women to help comfort a woman going into surgery because she was RAPED.
Cristina standing up in her decision is one of the best moments since the beginning of the show, and that scene where Meredith tells Owen that she was raised by a Cristina and it didn’t gave her a good upbringing. MerTina moments that I miss 🥺
WOW! I would have picked Amelia's legendary as #2. Nothing beats the hall of women who protected the female patient who had been raped. That was such an empowering scene and I cried when I saw it. That scene shows both the strength & vulnerability in feminism...as well as female unity! P.S. It's not too soon. This list came out today (9/30/19). The episode is from last season.
I the beginning I didn't like Meredith, and then I started to see her backstory and get to know her and once I knew her I understood her. Now I think she's a great character.
Yes she made clear that decision for him before they got married, but Owen thought that she would change her mind after, bc in his twisted mind every women wants a child 🙄 he did the same thing with Amelia
Don’t get me wrong, Amelia’s great, but that wasn’t a feminist thing. No one questioned that she could or couldn’t do it because she was a woman, it was whether she could do it as a surgeon. It’s got more to do with identity than gender really. I would probably have the hallway scene from last season as number one because all the women came together to support that patient. I would have also included Lexie telling Alex off after he objectified her in 7x01. Thought that was a great moment for her. Definitely an honourable mention at least. That’s just my opinion though
The hallway scene should definitely be #1. I get why Amelia's legendary is on the list, considering how sexist her brother was. It's a little feminist, but much more about stepping from a sibling's shadow.
Jina Koffi agree. It was just that last statement I didn’t agree with where the video says “it speaks volumes about what women can accomplish” Pretty sure I can’t do this, only a talented surgeon could
Jina Koffi i don’t think Derek was sexist I think that for one he was older and they had a sibling rivalry but more importantly that he didn’t trust her cuz she was a drug addict
@@chideraagu8433: In this scenario, he wasn't. This was more sibling rivalry. In general, Derek was hella sexist. He called Meredith a whore after he broke up with her, he grudgingly helped Cristina after much prodding, and he didn't always respect Callie or Arizona in their respective roles. While Alex was much worse in the beginning, he made a complete change. Derek never had the same epiphany Alex did.
The wall of women, was so powerful, but also when Jo decides to file for a divorce from her abusve ex. That was a small but empowering moment, especially for other women, who were/are in the same sitiatuon as Jo.
This was awesome but another top 10 feminist moments for Grey's Anatomy is needed there are so many more from just last season that should be highlighted as well...
nowadays that would probably be considered sexual harassment but things were different and even Grey's was different, when I watch older episodes I think, "they wouldn't say that now". I like when they have their own reckoning, like Bailey telling people to quit calling her The Nazi after she had to operate on an actual Nazi.
@Hudson Donald its not a feminist issue, but it is definitely considered harassment. Izzie is working in an environment where her nudity is not part of the workplace. Someone papered the hospital with photos of her meant to shame and humiliate her. It's not the same as, say, her bringing a magazine to the hospital and showing Meredith what she did before she became a doctor. The intent and context are what makes it wrong.
@Hudson Donald I didn't say anything even remotely suggesting that I thought what Izzie did to earn money was wrong. I also didn't say I wouldn't condemn a woman for sexually harassing a man because it goes both ways. You're assuming a lot about me based on one comment, my dude.
@Hudson Donald "What you are really saying is that her showing her body for money was wrong" pretty sure you were the one who suggested that when you said "She had an embarrassing job before they worked together". Also, Alex did it to undermine Izzie, I have no idea how you're trying to pretend it wasn't. It backfired on him because she stood up for herself, had she had any other personality or different co-workers, things could have gone badly for her. So stop downplaying what he did as if it was anything other than shitty and ill-intentioned.
Yesss I used to live for those moments when Bailey was being her badass powerful self and after she became chief they made her seem more soft and try to make it seem like she is overcome by her mental issues but the bailey I knew would’ve been a powerful force after dealing with those issues
I agree they made her petty and emotional once she became chef. She fired Meredith, Alex, and Richard because she was jealous that they didn't have her in loop really?
Agreed. She's an important character (even if she's not an OG), and she has had quite a few feminist moments on the show: most notably the wall of women, and deciding to file for a divorce from Paul
i love the one..."i can live without you but i don't want to". she is capable enough to get over everything and she can do that too but she don't want too... i am in so much love with this show.. .
amelia's wasnt a feminist moment, is just badass, regardless of gender, she wasnt dereks shadow bc she was his female little sister, was his shadow bc she wasnt HE, and they all knew HIM, they didnt have two cents about her. i hate when ppl throw the word feminism at anything just bc theres a woman involved. there are a ton of more feminist moments through out the show, and u picked that as ur number one. get ur references checked.
I really like the video but i would have included the moment when all the females doctors, nurses and health personal of a hospital made a line for the lady who was sexually abused. Because feminism is not only about making women and men equal, but be there for a women when she struggles.
@@RebrandYourselfFor are you really going to complain when a lot of episodes are focus in male problems and struggles and they made this one for women. Really?

How could you miss the scene where Jo gathered every woman in the Hospital to line up the way to the OR for the woman who was assaulted to make her feel comfortable and safe!!! And that's not the only scene you've missed. So please do make another list
I like when Bailey gives the kids a tour of the hospital and she thinks it was a bad tour but they loved it because all the heads were women and showed them they can do it too
Amelia has come so freaking far it’s amazing. Going from the Shepherd family black sheep and little sister in the shadows to absolut badass surgeon, kicking ass and taking names while being a recovering addict and a great mom. She’s incredible.
I know this is a list of earlier seasons moments, but I WILL add two. The moment when Jo lined the hallway with women to help comfort and empower a traumatized patient. I thought that moment was extraordinary. And of course, the moment when Meredith won her Harper Avery.
Christina did tell Owen that she didn’t want kids before they were engaged. The topic came up during a surgery. If he didn’t believe her or decided that she was going to change her mind then thats on him. He can’t blame her for it.
#3 wasn't rly about her gender it was about the fact that each career doesn't get paid the same. A neuro gets paid more cuz u r doing surgery on the BRAIN. Like that's just the way it is. Also the other department heads were women so i don't understand that
Damn, I've already seen all these moments, but hearing Grey tell Derek she can live without him always makes my heart super, super heavy. Then she says, "But I don't ever want to." And I'm just permanently sad.
I have my "person" like Christina and Meredith and she's more valuable than any partner I've ever been with. Also, I think Miranda is someone all women should aspire to be

Whenever i would feel down abt my future i would motivate myself by telling myself that meredith grey did not become a world renowned surgeon by not studying and by day dreaming all the time abt mcdreamy. Also that scene abt izzie, that is one of my favourites ever.
When it comes to the men on the show in terms of feminism Jackson takes the cake. Both showed in this top 10 but also him talking to Cathrine about equality when he leaves the show is everything.
Callie is my favorite always has been as a fellow bisexual woman it meant a lot that she is bi snd loved mark and Arizona dearly and is a beautiful woman

Personally I think the hall of women for the assault victim, April standing up for being a virgin, Meredith telling Zola never to date a guy who cant handle her power, and something from Jo's story shoudlve made the list or at least honorable mention!
yes, like Jo deciding to file for a divorce from her abusive ex. That should have made the list.
How is standing up for being a virgin a feminist moment?
@@EJaramillo its very feminist to make your own sexual decisions
I loved the "you are the sun" scene between Meredith and Christina. A beautiful true friendship.
I am sad to see that there’s the scene missing when Cristina told Owen her past relationship with Burke, and that he took pieces of her without noticing. And that she will from now on never give up pieces of herself for another man. Man, that scene was so courageous, and emotional, and RAWWWW Feminine Power!!!
🤢🤮
Cristina my fav.... For ever ! (With April) the best character of the show
That scene was so great.
unpopular opinion: amelia is the most underrated character, her whole character line is amazing from private practice to grey’s anatomy
I agree!! She's awesome
Agreed but with her being pregnant now (sorry if that's a spoiler), I have a feeling she's going to get more time in the forefront.
NiffNiff Hooray me too
angel michelle her growth makes me more and more proud of her every episode
Yuk, Amelia is the worst. I was totally done with her when she had Link pretend to be Owen to her family. What sane adult does this? Now she realizes her baby might not be Link's. She is so irresponsible, reckless. 4 weeks separated Owen and Link and it never occurred to her? Didn't she realize she missed her period a long time ago. I always felt she was a flake and she keeps proving me right
What about when Jo lines the hallway with female nurses and doctors for the sexual assault victim?!?!??!?!?!?!!!
Too recent.
Agreed. This video came out today. It's not like that episode was last week's season premiere.
I hated that. As if that could ever happen in a busy hospital.
Personally, everything Christina did was a prime example of a BADASS BIIIIIITCH. I live for Sandra Oh and her new role in Killing Eve
Seconded!
Thirded
Fourthed! (P.S it's Cristina no H. Sorry I'm weird.)
ok but she acted like mer should have to choose between motherhood and her career and as of she was above her cause she didn't what kids not that's bad but no one said that too. Derek

When she is the whole reason he is on the show the whole reason we have a grey's anatomy

I actually miss Ellen’s acting from the earlier seasons. In the last few seasons she seems more of a side character without any serious scenes showcasing her acting
I know it is bad to say but I miss Dark and Twisty Meredith the acting was impeccable
breakingdawn999 true but did u see last nights episode shew she was the center of it honestly 🤣💀
i think that merediths character has matured and now she’s okay with just chilling. she’s like the wise old owl now and i love it lol
She's matured but her telling the man who killed derek off, that shit was amazing
"they may not be sisters by blood..." Yeah but we'll forever stan the twisted sisters
meredith “you don’t get to call me a whore” is so iconic
YES bc how dare you call her a whore after you left her for your wife that you neglected to mention from day one and she chose to move on.
True. I always found derek as toxic. He had god-complex. He didn't care about anyone but him. He always treated his sister like crap.
Anna Mauricio you’re forgetting the prom thing. She slept with him after he decided to go back to Addison.
I also loved the scene when Dr. Hahn confronts the chief for doubting her surgery choices because she's a woman but never asked a ques to other male surgery heads.
Yeeees, I don't like Hahn, but that scene I applaud standing
Christina did tell me that she do not want kids long before they got married he just thought she would change her mind

Yang definitely mentioned not wanting children in front of Owen before that scene.
Yes she made clear that decision for him before they got married, but Owen thought that she would change her mind after, bc in his twisted mind every women wants a child 🙄 he did the same thing with Amelia

Bailey is the best. I don't care what anyone says. She is the best.
The Bailey of the past, because currently her character is annoying
nah
Factz
It was just that last statement I didn’t agree with where the video says “it speaks volumes about what women can accomplish”
Pretty sure I can’t do this, only a talented surgeon could
Jina Koffi i don’t think Derek was sexist I think that for one he was older and they had a sibling rivalry but more importantly that he didn’t trust her cuz she was a drug addict
Man that Cristina and Meredith scene is so impactful
I love how Jackson didn’t allow his mother to take the fall for his grandfather sexual harassment .
This was awesome but another top 10 feminist moments for Grey's Anatomy is needed there are so many more from just last season that should be highlighted as well...
LMFAOO as soon as Cristina said "I don't want one" RUclips played a diaper ad
The best line in greys anatomy to this day is “you can’t pray away the gay”
I'm surprised Alex didnt get the boot after posting pics of izzie. It took a lot of acts to get him to be better.
He’d have to admit to doing it and I doubt he was that dumb.
nowadays that would probably be considered sexual harassment but things were different and even Grey's was different, when I watch older episodes I think, "they wouldn't say that now".
They may not have "discussed" it, but Cristina tells Owen LONG before they were married that she absolutely does not want children.
Bailey becoming chief was the downfall of the show as we know it. She lost her fire. Sorry to say, but it’s true.
Chana Lerner is I think it’s her being on the bored that’s the problem, Alex should of got yangs seat.
The hallway scene wasn’t even too recent when this video was released and it should be number 1
Why aren’t any of them about Jo?
In my opinion she should be in there!
Agreed. She's an important character (even if she's not an OG), and she has had quite a few feminist moments on the show: most notably the wall of women, and deciding to file for a divorce from Paul
Derek can’t be mad that Meredith was sleeping with other men because he decided he didn’t want to anymore
This entire show is about Women Empowerment 🥰 that’s why I love it so much
Unfortunately there are no male empowermemt in movies.

I think one of the most amazing scenes is when Mer stands up to the doctor that killed Derek at her hearing
I really like the video but i would have included the moment when all the females doctors, nurses and health personal of a hospital made a line for the lady who was sexually abused. Because feminism is not only about making women and men equal, but be there for a women when she struggles.
