What carti doing is avant garde, he is making impressionist, abstract music. It’s not lazy, it reduces aesthetic in sound, lifestyle, and style, to challenge how we think about culture and what we consider music. How can you say it lacks substance if you’re able to talk about a 3 minute song for 20 minutes, he Is challenging your approach to music.

So the thing about carti is, the substance isn’t in the lyrics. He’s not telling you the story through the song. He’s telling you a story through the entire package. Take in his clothing choices, the different ways that he uses his voice, the production.
When you’re innovating in any space (even technology), you need to look at the landscape of the industry, see what things are taken as “law” and subvert them.
Stop looking for overt lyricism. Stop expecting ANYTHING from him. When he drops, try to understand the overall purpose & direction instead of spoonfed story-telling. He’s telling you everything that’s going on in his life, but you have to piece it together.
