    Good to see your having a crack mate.
    1. Don’t rest your oil cap thread down, it’ll drip oil on your motor, thread up.
    2. Get a permanent marker and write date and kms on all filters so you know when they were done.
    3. Google is a great asset

    Tips-
    Do the oil filter from the wheel arch, make sure its bottoms out on the block.
    Hold the oil bottle sideways so it does 'glob' everywhere when filling engine.
    You must clean the maf sensor every service.
    Put a 600ml bottle on the oil filter drip tray hose when taking off oil filter.
    Putting oil on the oring is purely so it doesn't catch and tear on a dry surface, nothing to do with seizing later on.
    Do not prefil fuel filters, could cost you thousands.
    Use a magnet stick to get the drain plug out if it goes in the oil.
    Change the sump plug washer every service
    And check wheel bearings and general vehicle condition. I rotate my tyres during a service as well.

      how can pre fulling fuel filters casue issues?

    • @jarrod1687
      @jarrod1687 Год назад +1

      Because that fuel goes straight into fuel system with no filtration, so if the fuel is even slightly contaminated you could be in trouble

    Yes I got done with exactly the same fuel filter. A lot of parts places recommend the wrong filter even when you type in your VIN. I had fun when I changed mine using my finger as a valve because the fuel drained from the engine bay back into the tank. Bleeding the lines can be a pain sometimes.

    Nice video! Yeah unfortunately looks like you got the kit for a ZD30 DI. The Common Rail ZD30 uses that single unit fuel filter so you gotto replace whole unit as a filter change.

    There is a small plastic spigot that sits on bottom of oil filter an filter housing that centres the filter an provides a seal, so oil doesnt bypass the filter. It either gets stuck in housing(good) or gets stuck in filter an thrown out(bad). Wheres yours?

    Don't trust the Auto shops all the time for parts. Maybe get a hold of a Workshop manual for the Patrol from the Auto shop.

    Quick question - you mentioned the oil was hot when you had to fish out the cap… why is that ? Was it just because you had the car running recently ? Thanks !

    • @joemurrayau
      @joemurrayau  2 года назад

      Yeah I had the car running about an hour beforehand so the oil was still cooling down from the engines running temps.

      @user-gf6et3ep2r Год назад +1

      it is best to have your car running just before service because when oil is hot will drain better

    NO do not pre fill the oil filter. You can introduce contamination into the engine.

      @@joemurrayau Good video mate.
      There are 2 ZD30 engines a Direct Injection (non common rail) earlier version pre 2006 I think, and the CRD (common rail). Like you found out I think it's only a different fuel filter.
