    Hi Mike, I have a question for you about the basecoat: what is right mix for the base coat ? Can I do my own mix with portland, and san ? if so what you recommend is the right mix ? Do you use lime at all for the base coat or not ?
    Thank you very much Mike for your help !!

    • @samel3915
      @samel3915 6 лет назад +1

      Basecoat comes in a drymix and wetbase. For begginers I would recommend drymix just add water accordingly to skill level of plasterer. I would not recommend trying this if you have no experience as it will cost you far more to repair than to hire from scratch. Courtesy of plast-all stucco systems Inc.

    No back wrap ??? Otherwise good demonstration of doing base coat.
    I apply a consistent coat on the eps foam before applying the mesh, never leave thick spot because if you do, you will end up trying to squeeze it out under the mesh. So cover the eps foam with a nice consistent coat, apply your mesh and apply another coat to cover up the mesh. I do not apply thick because I always come back for a skim coat after it cures.

      I don’t get why drainage plane is required. EIFS is the drainage plane.
      If you take care of your window, door, and roof flashing details it should work fine.

    Applicators such as this fellow are the reason there was a sharp decline in EIFS projects over the past ten years or so. You cannot cheat the system and expect it not to fail: No backwrap at top of wall, no backwrap at window openings, no backwrap at wall penetrations, mesh was barely overlapped at the window opening (1" or less), did not double wrap corner at window opening.
    It's like building failures into the wall.
    As an industry we need to go back to training and certifying EIFS applicators or it may never reach it's market potential again.

    • @joyride20001
      @joyride20001 5 лет назад

      I have been doing this trade for 18 years and don't like back wrapping and there are many reasons for that i like wrapping from outside going in around windows. When you have the back wrap mesh install when sanding the corners you always cut through or damage the wrap making it hard to get a nice edge. Second when you base coating the wall base coat that falls get stuck in the mesh which make it hard to clean so you have to cut it off and wrap it from outside going in. The point is if your styrofoams is not install strong snd ry right then back wrap won't hold it secure
