@@thuglifebear5256 It's either specific factors ( Like Team HP, items equipped, team performance, etc.) or RNG (Completely randomized) and in some case a mix of both. Usually the method is set by the mapper when they make the map.

The real difference between versus and campaign, is that in versus, you get kicked after existing for 10 seconds.

Rinse and repeat for the passing. Really annoying when playing with randoms. Never hesitate to shoot the cans for no reason.

I like how skips were patched for versus but left for the regular campaign. Players can still enjoy using them (esp. speedrunners) and it keeps the versus match fair.
Unfortunately stuff like bhop isn't "patched" in versus. Great to see speedrunners use, not so much in versus. Same thing as the skips IMO
Kinda like in L4D the original Rooftop level has plenty of safe camping areas that make the level trivial. In survival Valve made it so these spots no longer exist, they’re much harder to use and you’re better off playing normally, or you are punished for using it.
@@vocassen I mean it is something that not everyone can do, a path is something else, since you just gotta know about it, for example, I cannot do Bhop, but a friend can do it perfectly, since he has player a lot of source games
@@vocassen most people dont even know how to bhop it's only the tryhard % of the community every game I play and yes I play on PC every game is normal like a Xbox game no bhopers just normal players bhop is super hard to do especially if you doing the crouch bhop
@@TeoUnreleased Idk I see it rarely but that's what makes it even more annoying on those otherwise close games that give the person bhopping the deciding advantage - e.g. tank when your team REALLY needs to win or, conversely, to escape a tank, or quite commonly to yeet yourself among the survivor as a boomer or smth. Even though that's not fully bhopping, the extra speed from the single acceleration before spawning often makes the difference.
But yeah you can play the majority of the games without actively seeing it

@@DRB-il2pg Not all maps, it can be either based on how you're doing, completely RNG, or a mix of both. The Parish's cemetery layout for example is entirely based on RNG.

Damn all these years I didn't know the map layouts change depending on the gamemode you play. As well as movement and background effects.
It's worth noting that layouts are RANDOM in 'campaign' but FIXED in 'versus'

That first part isn't exactly correct, the video somewhat mischaracterizes it. The Dead Center mall map can definitely give either version in either mode. I'm sure there are some statistical differences & other variables but it's not a simple if-campaign-then-X/if-versus-then-Y thing generally.
The take a break feature is so great and I always remember every time I go back and play some left for dead to and it still makes me wonder why I’ve never seen another game do it it’ll be such a better solution for AFK people. If your argument is that other games have things like XP and and K/D then just make them freeze when you’re AFK, problem solved having a bot would be a lot better than having no team at all

I think the reason for that is because it cuts off the multiple of Lines survivors will say now cuz the last stand update brought in new once’s
So I think there trying to make sure that people are new to the game can hear something new instead of laughs and taunts constantly all game in versus

Many of these are not tied to versus vs campaign but simply the AI director, also, the director favours the short paths on versus more often to create a better feel for a versus enviroment.

All this time, I never thought about bringing gas cans with you from a previous level to use for Jimmy Gib's car. That's a nice attention to detail.
I think the reason why is to not cause confusion and some path takes longer unlike the campaign that's why they just do the fixed path way cuz every seconds matter on versus and fair and balance to both sides
All of the map differences, from the paths to the dead center fire, are performed by the AI director in the campaign so both differences are in the campaign

This shot up the amount of respect I have for Valve. They know these tricks exist, but instead of freaking out and patching them like so many other companies they just disable them for the competitive mode. Absolute class.
they forgot a comparison and it is with the boomer, the campaign if a boomer falls from a great height and nobody shoots at it, it explodes, instead in versus if you are a boomer you will not receive damage and you will remain intact
It's always beautiful when an AI Boomer intentionally jumps off a high place just to inflict bile on everybody. That's an actual strategy they chose lol

I like how in Campaign valve never pathces out any speedrun skips/exploits because they actually value speedrunning.
I almost exclusively play versus, and this explains why I would get lost so easily in campaign mode...

Lol, the L4D1 survivors just dissapeared while the survivors from L4D2 were trying to reach the other side from the bridge.
Some of these differences were just in how the game director sets up the level paths. Like in dead center either the long or short path will spawn in the hallways, and the barricades in different maps will spawn in or out between map reloads
The tricks on Dark Carnival work in Versus for me, I do them all the time

at 7:20 the campaign side can also happen in versus its just that ONLY bot tanks are effected by this if a player is a tank this animation will not happen
I love how Valve tried to make the survivors go around the fire on dead center, which could potentially lead to more death charges. In the end we all know we’re just gonna run through the fire.

Map changes are due to the director actually. I’ve seen most of those routes in Campaign. As for its consistency in versus I’m not sure since I don’t play it.

The paths part is actually on both, it's a random chance for any of both configurations. I played campaign and got both those paths to disable the alarm on the mall.

6:41 I am not joking, after 2000 hours in l4d2, I stopped playing because I can't laugh in versus and it was the gamemode I most played, now I only play mostly custom maps, and I haven't been playing very ofter, truly the most disgusting change in the last stand
Same here, I have 1500hrs, and I recently got back to L4D2 and I was confused why some of the voice commands don't work. A lot of people seem to like the Last Stand update, but I straight hate it.
for me its good its blocked i hate people spamming these voices stuff and stopping the game dialogue it break my immersion, laughing screaming and all that its annoying not fun. the correct change for me is to allow laughing but have cooldown so u can't spam it. all voice overs should have a cooldown and if someone is spamming u could mute they vocalyzer.
@@gabrielandy9272 I don't like it, to me if you want to have a story go to campaing, no one in versus goes there to hear the characters talk about how they are now broke because they spent all their money on NFT, it just makes the game more generic, survivors don't laugh, shortcuts that had a risk are now removed, and the game feels more generic to me, you are controlling some guys who can't express their emotions, I can somewhat agree on the cooldown thing, but I also can't because one of the most funny things that happened to me in l4d2 is hearing Nick laughing while being charged off a cliff, that doesn't happend anymore, the funny shit people used to make by cutting story dialogs was out of this world to me, a whole community of stuff, gone in an update, replaced by just competitiveness in a game that isn't even competitive, I have wrote a lot, but this game was trully the one I loved, and it saddens me to be bored of it now that is just another shooter A to B for me...
@@1337Ox A lot of the fixes where necesary, some shorcuts where broken and had to go, some other shortcuts where actually 🤓risky to pull off since if the infected team focused on it, they would probably incap or kill a survi because they didn't use it properly, now the game is more linear than it used to be, it's still a wonderful game don't get me wrong, but long are the days of "GET IT O- HAAHAHAAAHA, GET IT GET IT! HAJAJAJA, THE FREAKING TANK IS your mom's car, ajajajajaa"

I think I remember in L4D1 versus mode the “mini safe room” on Dead Air still has the door.
Understand that some of these clips werent played on Normal Difficulty for Campaign mode.
Only on Easy Difficulty do you not get interrupted for timed actions (Reviving teammates, filling gas, starting generators, though some may be exempt depending on maps/scripts)
VS Map Generation is locked to the fastest path, though RARELY will you see it use the longer route, however certain maps will use RNG no matter what gamemode it is (Ex. Dark Carnival Chapter 4, Parish Chapter 3)
Map RNG also applies to what Difficulty the match is on (VS is locked to Normal, even on Realism mode) (PERSONAL THOUGHT, PROBABLY NOT LEGIT, JUST FROM OBSERVATION)

Alot of these comparisons of things that can happen in versus have happened in campaign unless this was all changed in the last year. Also the Freezer door actually broke for me versus a Tank once so Im now just assuming this was alll changed in a recent of this year or whenver I stopped playing
So the path one on dead center in the mall changes on the campaign alone, if you only play the campaign the path will change randomly when you hop on that level it’s not just when you get on versus
The, parish water front and ig the dead center mall after alarm, it’s based on RNG (so the escalators and openings wouldn’t be the same location)
The Fallen Survivor can be found in the Passing in versus but that's the only time I've seen one
