Wow Very cool, 1st thing I noticed was is, how great the colors are with the jig & skirt, Great looking bait👍
Looking good Gramps! Better than any store bought jigs!
Always enjoy learning more about making custom baits.
I’m a traditional fly fisherman and this was my first time watching this channel. These things look pretty cool and not too awfully complicated to tie. As I look to branch out into targeting more species of fish, I’m sure these little boogers will greatly assist my cause. Thanks for the advice and Go Big Orange 🍊 🍊 🍊
Love making my own soft plastics and Just not starting to do my own jig, but hearing you say blk and blue / green pumpkin were the main 2 you throw we just became best friends lol. Awesome video
I am actually looking forward to winter so I have time to make a lot more to throw next year
@@FishinwithGRAMPS be careful as you can definitely go down a rabbit hole with tying materials. I took up fly tying to give me something to do in the winter months and not only ended up loving it but started tying my own little jigs and fell in love with ice fishing so now I don’t have enough time for any of my hobbies. 😂
LOL, I feel ya!
Thanks for that tutorial, Gramps!!!!👊🏻 Looking Good!!!👍🏻 Stay Safe & God Bless!!
Nice job Gramps!
Great job on the videos as always! I am always learning from folks. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Man what you're doing is awesome! Keep going!
I miss fishing with my gramps.. I had to subscribe the name of your channel made my day and brought back memories... God bless you brother and you have great content to teach younger fisherman🙏🙏🙏
I appreciate it. I miss mine as well and dedicate every video to his memory, by making memories every time out. Looking forward to time with my sons again and their daughters as they grow and spend time on the water with us.
@@FishinwithGRAMPS Your a legend my man and I just went two Sundays ago with my father and made some memories my first rainbow trout... Your channel is gonna blow up blessing your way🙏🙏🙏 and I hope for many days of fishing and memories for you and your family
Nice work! I need to get some of those little hair clips, they look really handy.
Good video, I've done tying for over 30 yrs from 1/80 Oz pan fish to 1 1/2 Oz spinnerbaits, you say ur jus starting but you do it like a pro, keep up the good work, alot of us have lots secrets to doin this and I've got mine from videos n old timers. Spinnerbaits n jigs are a big playing field, I think you will do good, seems like you know alot of good secrets tying those skirts, I'm not a smarty but, but if you leave the rubber collar on till you get done you won't fight the skirt strands trying to get in the way, I use a straw on both ends of the skirt to keep them out of the way too, maybe these might help u a lil, if not you still got a couple ideas. Keep up the good work.
Those are nice looking jigs!
I second what Daniel Hendrick says….. AND hubby still says no new hobbies lol.
that was a great video thanks for sharing
You make me want to take up bait making. Gotta learn to fish better before I worry too much about making my own stuff though :-)
I couldnt remember how the fibishing knot went for thread tying so searched. Who was the first video that popped up good ole gramps lol. It actually doesnt look hard and i was thinking for some reason it was harder lol. Well guess ill be spending some cold days tying up all my banded jigs now 😂
Nice looking cig 🔥👍
Jig *
Great job👍👍
Skimpy has a tool to twist the wire you will have to check out.
I won't do many with wire, I prefer the thread
@@FishinwithGRAMPSsame here. Wire is overkill.
Super interesting love the content
Much appreciated
Thumbs up because Nachoooooo!!!!! :D great Vid!
hehe
Looking really nice on them jigs. I just don't have the patience.
🤜🏽🤛🏽
Great video! New sub here 👌
You put out some great stuff
I am planning on going back and wire tying all of my jigs. A lot of my Dirty Jigs, D&L jigs, and a few other brands have got busted bands. The skirt material is fine but the band is dry rotting (even in waterproof storage). Any tips to tie already built jigs for reinforcement?
I typically grab old braid and hand tie right in front of band on any jig I buy that isn't wire tied... then cut off and toss the band.
What kind of thread do you use? I have some bladed jigs I want to change the skirts on would you recommend the thread or wire. Awesome work gramps
this stuff right here amzn.to/3KTgg0b
Good video lesson. Do you tie with wire or thread because the collars don't last as long?
yeah, my favorite jigs always lose their rubber bands after a season.
Where can I get the things to build it with thread
Could you tell me a good starter vice for bass jigs? What kind do you use?
Here's the vice: amzn.to/3TBaYyf
here's a base for the vise: amzn.to/488KR6q
Where do u get your jig heads I’m trying to get into an I like the video
These days I make my own with Do-It Molds. ruclips.net/video/5-EJM9r8UOA/видео.html
I've used wire to tie mine but I don't like the wire showing through what is the durability of using the thread vs wire? I use thread to secure the skirt now then wrap with wire to finish but wondering if just thread would hold up without cutting the skirt.
I've actually gone more to using old braid
@@FishinwithGRAMPS this holds up well? Doesn't let the skirt slide/roll and doesn't cut the skirting material?
@@miller17013 been fine for me so far.
Do you not finish off your wax thread with a dab of fly tying glue? (cement glue)
Never saw the need
👋🏻
get you some skirts from barlows and save , thight lines bud
I remember going into Barlows 20 years ago when I lived down that way
Too fast - hand covered key parts couldn’t see -- can’t tie a jig after watching - you know how to tie but instructions terrible
Such is life on RUclips, LITERALLY left a link in the description of the guy who teaches this stuff
Good job Gramps 👍
