Hi, I hope you're well, I was wondering if there is somebody who may be able to offer me some help and advice to resolve some issues in having with the Sphere DLX. I only purchased the microphone yesterday, and l've started testing out some rough vocal and acoustic guitar at the same time. I am set up on a mono track in logic, but I keep getting a notification telling me
'Identical Signal Levels Detected', and that levels in the front (left) and rear ( right) channels are the same. It's suggested the microphone's calibration switch is on, but it isn't, it's switched to the on position. I'm obviously not doing something correctly. Some help to rectify this problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks

If I record with a pre-amp unison plugin, does it affect the emulated sound ? For exemple if I record without any plugin and add them later in the DAW, will it give me the same sound as if I commit with unison plugin/mic emulation directly during the recording ? And does it change anything if I put the pre amp in that recording or add it after in the DAW (like does the pre amp affect the emulation mic) ?

    • @UniversalAudio

Have Sphere L22 Townsend around 18 months always confused as I get error messages in Console stating I must activate a stereo input in my DAW whether using Sphere standard or Sphere 180 app. And now UA states that I can't even use 180 unless I have this new DLX model? So what happened to the 180 utility I've had all this time? Has UA limited the functionality of my mic with their new software update to force purchasing another (DLX) mic or am I misunderstanding all this? I'm pretty sure the L22 Townsend has always allowed stereo. I'm not updating anything just yet. Help please....Edit: Thank you UA for clarifying in the Reply.

    • @UniversalAudio
      @UniversalAudio  Год назад +1

No functionality has been taken away from L22 owners - only Sphere LX owners don't receive the 180 version of the plug-in, but both DLX and L22 are fully comapatible. Your L22 will continue to work as it has, and if you register it to your UA account you can download the new Sphere and Sphere 180 plug-ins containing new mic models. Regarding the error in Console, Sphere must be used on a stereo channel whether you're using the 180 version or not.

I have the DLX and it sounds amazing. I use it with Cakewalk and an AXE I/O interface. The only problem I have is that, when I use multiple instances of the plugin, for example, going back and forth between punching-in retakes on a lead vocal and backing vocal (going back and forth between tracks) the mic light goes out and the sound starts to get weaker, as if the mic is no longer successfully working with the plugin. I have to unplug the mic and restart the interface. Now, it seems ok if I freeze any other tracks (besides the one I am currently working on) that are using the Sphere plugin. And maybe not a lot of people work this way. But just curious as to whether others have a similar problem and if there is a way of better dealing with the mic light going out and the basic sound changing when quickly switching between instances of the plugin within a single project. It seems that the mic gets angry if it senses more than one instance of the plugin trying to communicate with it from inside the recording software. Thanks.

    Hello!
I have a Sphere connected to a Neve 5211 hardware pre amp into an Apollo x6. Have I got to link the two channel of the Apollo even if I already have calibrated the LR mic signal from the gain input of the hardware? Second question: can I plug the two xlr outcoming from the Neve 5211 into the two mic channel of the Apollo (with the digital preamp gain all the way down) or I have to use two xlr - 1/4 TRS into two line input of the Apollo?
    Thanks!

yes, you still need to link for the plugin to work. No, you want to come out of the Neve XLR line outs to the TRS Line ins of the Apollo and choose Line. XLR ins on Apollos are for mics only.

Why did you take away our Sphere 180 features, only to give them to your brand new microphones? Some of us slaved to afford the first ones, and now you pull this nonsense after acquisition?!
BTW, a ton of people bought the Sphere L22 on sale during last holiday. So since you already acquired Townsend Labs, don't be surprised if you get sued for bait & switch fraud in a class-action lawsuit, @Universal Audio.

Sphere 180 hasn't gone anywhere. DLX owners can use it just like L22 owners. The new LX model doesn't support it though. So nothing has been taken away. Enjoy.

Oh my goodness! I'm SO VERY SORRY.
I struggle with ADHD, and when I read "L22"... my mind must have registered it as "LX".
      I'm VERY sorry.

@@sekritskworl-sekrit_studios Nothing to apologize for, Your initial concerns were valid and legitimate - but UAD takes care of its customers. I was also worried that my L22 (I was one of the first owners of the L22) would no longer function in the new update, but I think it should work just fine.

@@davidmaraisthecampfireguit2596 I appreciate that. And I wish you and your Production and/or Audio Engineering ventures prove successful in 2023 (and beyond).
      Happy New Year!
