Here is a reality check for you since you are claiming that this song is a regurgitation of the same song that MM has been doing for the last 7 years:-
MM's 2016 road march "Waiting on the Stage" was an EDM Power Soca track and the first track of that kind to ever win a T&T road march;
MM's 2015 road march "Like Ah Boss" was a "power groovy" that slowed down the pace of the music and brought back brass to the music that had been missing from the music since the 1990's and early 2000's;
MM's 2014 road march "Ministry of Road (MOR)" was a power soca infused with zouk that was again different from his previous road marches with that blend;
This current road march contender "Beat It" is nearest in vibe to MM's 2007 road march "Jumbie" but is still different to "Jumbie" which did not include the use of our national instrument the steelpan like this song does. The term "Beat It" for beating the road and the stage and which also applies to the steelpan which is featured in this track is very clever and creative in my eyes, we beat pan and we beat the road!
Lyrically this MM track uses a couple phrases like "stamp it" and "stamp the road" which are similar to what we may have heard before in MM's 2011 road march "Advantage" but musically this track is different from "Advantage". MM also slows this track down near the end to give folks a groovy soca breather which also makes it different and creative.
So lets be fair this track is not like any of MM's previous road marches or road march contenders over the last 7 years as you are claiming.
It will be a close and exciting road march race contest this year for 2017 and this video and how it promotes the national instrument of T&T will definitely enhance the chances of this song winning the 2017 road march.
May the best song for the road and crossing the stage win and thanks again to MM for releasing this song and video and increasing our quality options of road worthy songs for crossing the stage and other judging points on both Carnival Monday and Tuesday!
