I feel very fortunate to have a seen the 'Sisters of Mercy' on the very hot and beautiful day on April, 26th 1985 live at the infamous 'Zeche' in Bochum, Germany, which was my first ever concert at the age of 15. Also had my first doobie that night lol. We called ourselves 'New Waves' back then. We dressed mainly black, wore pointed ankle boots, used hairspray and make-up, we danced to The Cure, Fad Gadget, Neon Judgement, Alien Sex Fiend, Skinny Puppy, Anne Clarke, etc.. and of course Sisters who were the top act in New Wave music from 1983 to 1985. 'Temple of Love' was an anthem. We were proud not being mainstream in most ways. Met some extraordinary people of whom some are still in my life today. Those times were one of the most memorable in my life which shaped me in so many positive ways. At least. I hope so. Peace & be wild.
I joined a gig there too. But I m not sure if it was in spring or in autumn 85. I remember Zeche well. But the Zfall was the epicentre of the scene. 😎 Nowadays I am grey wearing cap and sunglasses. 😉 In those times many painted their clothes black in the washing machine. 😁
After the end of the concert, behind the scenes ,Lemmy Kilmister , lifelong fan of the Sisters , between 2 lines speed, insisted that the Sisters play again and they put it back for Ghost Rider +LouieLouie.(they do not appear on the official version) Thank you so much Lemmy !!
@@ingridnaraine3208 not this. this is a different recording and only available through the fanbase. if you see this being sold ANYWHERE please report it as it is being sold by someone with a love for money not a love for the band
@@leewhizzkid are you suggesting that there are people who have recordings of Sisters Of Mercy concerts or sessions or demos and that they actually have them pressed on CD or Vinyl then sell them, for profit, that the band members don't see the proceeds of? Forgetting all the the drama that went down after this high point gig, it must be said, Wayne Hussey stepped up to the mark carrying the guitar parts on his own with style and panache.
This is a blast from the past! I bought the official vhs of this gig when it came out. Was just too young to be able to see them live, The Mission and Ghostdance were among the first bands I saw live.
The sheer emotion in Andrews vocals on amphetamine logic is just so powerful I can't imagine anyone else singing it and doing it justice...... PERFECT !!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 "Give me myyyyy amphetamine logic"
Yep this gig was ' filmed ' professionally with the soundtrack. Gary Marx had left before this gig. Saw them a couple of weeks before at the 'Powerhouse ' in Birmingham and managed to have a chat with GM...
@@thepanel2935 - 1984 Powerhouse gig . Just milling around by the stage and Gary appeared so when we approached him we had a chat. Nothing that special really. Met him a few times, Genuinely nice guy.
It's a deep shame, a sin almost the official version of 'Wake', didn't include the concert as a whole. Thank you for uploading... Quality is great, most us Sister fans are used to hearing them at their best, warts 'n' all... ;)
Shame Wayne is mainly off camera, especially for Knocking on Heaven's Door, his solo kills it despite the hangover. Great upload what a treasure. Thanks.
It´s such an atmospheric performance. The peak of their career for sure. Everything they made after this is of major lesser quality. Well, it was a short period of superb music from SoM. But it is so good that we don´t miss anything really.
Saw the sisters at Portsmouth Guildhall around this time and they were fantastic then, sound is great on this video dodgy camera work doesn't really matter!
Shame this is the last gig of the most remembered line up, Obviously Gary Marx had just walked and Wayne Hussey having to try and fill Marx's lead guitar parts.
No keyboards in this band mate. Maybe a couple of piano keys on recordings but most of the live stuff is, as mentioned guitar effects- Flangers, delays, Ebow etc...Even better when 2 guitars were playing...
as a style of music we were listening to the goths were named as a fashion/subsect before the music. which is why without exception the first generattion of goth bands deny trhey were goth. bauhaus denied even being a band ffs and said they were art...which is fine cuz they were dull
not bootleg. personal recordings shared for love not profit. Eldritch has no problem wityh his fans recording concerts for themselves as no one is making money from him
in a personal level, this is the best concert of all time by the greatest band of all time. Long live the sisters.

Never gonna happen due to legal issues. Plus we have this in its rawer beauty 🖤

FIRST GOTH BAND EVER...!!!
@@markbossink2875 not really, but certainly the best. Eldritch would take offence at you calling them goth too, he hated the term.
@@punkoid76 Because he's a contrarian. Supposedly hating the term, he leaned heavily into a Goth look and sound for his big comeback.
Amazing! The best band of all time!

Incredible just incredible. Figures lurking behind the smoke. Deadly Friends.

The band's heyday.
Is there a soundboard recording of this show, or is this the best one?
