Great video my wife and I arrived at Fort Desoto on the 12th for 10 days good time! I don't believe the launch ramp fee is included in the camp fee, as my friends and I have paid several times over the past years while staying there, thanks I'll check it out. Happy camping
You can book ahead of time on the website 6 months in advance. Pinellas County resident can book 30 days earlier, so many times it is full already. Every Friday at 7AM 10% of the heldback sites are released and become available
Thanks for watching! We were just these last weekend. Arrived on Thursday at 4:30 and someone was in our site. An older couple who said they were to leave the next day. Got him to leave after I showed him my name was on tag on the electric pedestal.
No, you have to stay in the campground. Adjacent to the campground is an island that you can camp on the beach. You have to get a permit from the ranger and it is only accessible by boat/Kayak. Call the park ranger for details
Friday’s at 7AM they they release 10% of the campsites online, keep hitting refresh on your computer. I typically always get one, sometimes I get one of the hard to get deep water waterfront sites
The camping area is on the bay with about half the sites are waterfront. Most of the waterfront sites have shallow water behind them and are limited to kayaks and paddle boards. About 20 sites have deep water behind them. The beach is a short car or bike ride and access is free if you are camping. The beach is a huge area and extremely popular.
Awesome - really appreciate all the info!!! Love seeing you enjoying the view Jan 12th 76 degrees!!!
Thank you for taking the time to make this informative video. Much appreciated.

Found yahs on a DeSoto search. We are Grand Design owners also! We are stopping by there for a few nights in June. Thanks for the review!

Good info - still worried about the raccoons in the green bin shown in the beginning...hope they are ok!
Is there a shuttle from the campground to the beaches
No shuttles from the campground to the beach. They do have a ferry that takes you out to Egmont Key, which is a State Park on an island.
We also thought the boat ramp fee was extra and were paying it for years. The ranger told us campers don’t have to pay it.
Just started following you two!
Thanks Dean, today I am starting to edit videos from our trip to Alaska where we rented an RV and toured the Kenai Peninsula
Driving down from Niagara Falls - bringing a kayak - but hesitant re alligators!
So you can't book ahead of time before arriving???
You have to book 6 months in advance or you won't get in, you might get in the tent area without booking in advance maybe!
Could I set up a tent right on the beach?

Did the raccoons get help to climb out of the bin?? A 2x6 board just for that purpose could be left there.
The park ranger got them out.
So these are the people reserving campgrounds six months out. The reservations are insane. Can’t reserve for at least half a year out.

is the campground on the ocean?
