Another space saving tip: your microwave turntable is tempered glass which makes a great cutting board, serving tray, or even a turntable at your camp table…nice tips.
Just found your channel. We’re brand new to RVing and you have landed on some of the best hacks that I haven’t seen in dozens of videos. The Bedroom organizer is genius!
Hi!!! Love all the hacks. My Fav is the paper towels on the flag holder!!! I get in my golf cart and drive around the campground to relax my grandson and I check out all the rv’s. I’ve never seen this!!! So cool. That flashlight is also a weapon lol.
Great hacks guys! I especially like the drain plug relief valve. Super idea. Another thing to do. I work as a paramedic in central michigan and years ago I noticed that we dont always use all the absorbent "blue pads" that are put under patients that may be incontinent. We ended up accumulating so many at one point we didnt know where to go with them all. Kinda like your paper towel supply. So, i snagged a few of the extras for use in my garage. They are great if you put 1 under your oil pan before you take off the drain plug. Any drips that miss the pan get caught on the blue pad. no mess to clean up and then they make a super quick way to get the burn barrel lit.;)
For the plate in your microwave, an easier fix is just to cut a section of a foam pool noodle to be slightly longer than the distance between the plate and the ceiling of the microwave. The pressure from the noodle pressing down from the ceiling of the microwave will assure that the plate does not rattle when you are driving, and you just take the section of noodle out when you are ready to heat something.
My thoughts about lining the door with felt to prevent rattling of the door is this. You will have to be mindful if your going to wash your rig. By putting the felt you lose the proper seal and will have a good chance of water getting in. I speak of experience.
We have an exterior storage compartment, that is vertical and deep. To access items in back, using a mechanic floor roller, need to pad wheels, used a bottle cap inverted & taped.
Foam pouches (moving supplies) are great for eliminating noise from dishes, pots & pans or whatever. They're available at U-Haul facilities or Amazon. Another solution to lock out problem is to keep an extra RV key in your vehicle (if applicable). Likewise, before locking up our tow car, I always have my wife show me her keys to the car (as mine are in the ignition of the car). I have a magnetic paper towel holder that is in the compartment above my water connections and it can be easily removed and taken to where you need it such as the picnic table.
I always had a hide-a-key on all vehicles I owned. Have one on my tow vehicle and travel trailer and I’m not going to tell where it is either. Also our camper came with a number combination keypad for the door. When at a campsite we never need a key to the trailer. One advantage of a travel trailer over a motor home or class C is that you don’t hear the rattles and noise in the trailer when motoring down the road.
Thanks, MJ and Izzy, for some great RV hack ideas! The microwave oven rattle is one that can drive me crazy, so we did the same thing with the glass tray. We use a lot of dish towels to wrap things that are prone to rattle in the kitchen area. Another thing we learned the hard way is to use tension rods in the refrigerator to prevent things from moving toward the door while driving - open the door when you arrive at your destination and things can go crashing to the floor! The tension rod solves the problem. Just be sure to measure and get the right size.
A microwave hack I use, is to cut a pool noodle and use it vertically cutting it to fit snug between the top of the glass plate/ carousel and the ceiling of the microwave. It only takes a second no more noise.
To keep the glass tray in the microwave from rattling, I use a pool noodle to fit from the top of the microwave and press down on the glass. We've never had any rattles at all. I like the are for bread storage. neat idea.
Thumbs up on the Fumoto oil quick drain. Though it does take a little big longer to drain the oil because it decreases the diameter of the opening a bit. I have been using one for at least a century, maybe more.
Loved this video. I have a couple tips to share. Use a clothespin to keep papertowels from unwinding. Also, we applied some Velcro to a Sucrets tin and hid it behind an outdoor panel. That is where we hide our keys. Also, apply some putty to the bedside caddy to keep it from moving. Love the videos. Keep RVing!
As for paper towels, you could get the Pop-a-Towel holder from Camco. I have had one in every RV I've owned. The holder mounts under the cabinet in the kitchen, but slips out easily to make a standing holder for on the outside table. I love this thing. I really like your idea about putting fruit or stuff in the microwave. I usually put stuff in the sink, but then I can't use the sink in the kitchen. BTW we own an LTV Unity TB24, so space and storage is definitely at a premium. ❤️❤️🌹
Just stick a little "museum wax" or Gorilla putty under that bedroom side table thing and it won't slide off anymore and you don't have to move it, but it can be if you want, plus the wax and/or putty can be reused many many times. It saves the worry of anything shifting in travel.
The paper towel idea is genius. One way to leave it in place over night, get a long piece of PVC pipe 6 or 8" diameter cut a groove in one end. B/4 going in for the night slip the pipe over the paper towels and slip an end cap over each end. No waste due to dew on surprise rain.
I use a twin fitted sheet as a picnic table cover. So easy to wash it when I get home. I use a Dollar Tree gardening kneeling pad when I need to be on my knees, connecting things up on my trailer.
For the microwave, mine is a regular one. But i use a piece of pool noodle wedged in to hold the glass tray in place while traveling. Because not everyone has a place to put the tray
I put motion activated USB rechargeable lights in the bathroom and kitchen that I turn on automatic at night. They are mounted with hook and loop command strips so can even remove to use as a flashlight. Also changed to Lippert waste management hose, love how easy it connects (always a positive fit) and high quality hose. Lumina battery candles for mood ambient lighting and air freshener. I enjoy your information, been researching the Liquidspring for my Bay Star. Have been RVing on and off since 80's, amazing how it's evolved.
I have become a big fan of your channel. I have been researching RV’s for the last 4 years. When I started researching RV’s, the first channel I came across was that prime pooping guy (you all know who that is). Great site for quick views of all types of RV’s. My wife and I would love to have a RV when we fully retire as we have children and grand children spread around the country. Right now I’m really leaning toward the latest version of Coachman Euro which you also reviewed. Loved this video of tips and hacks. Really like your videos on RV parks and places to stay and places to visit. I have always been curious about things like what is the water pressure like in the shower and sink. How long of a shower do you take. Seems to me like you would go through your water in a couple of showers. Keep up the good work.
I'm going to check out the led lights! We just bought our new-to-us rv. One thing I was not expecting, as new rvers, was how DARK it is! We ended up leaving an overhead light on in the living area, but it's a little too bright. So this is definitely a tip I'm going to be trying out! Thanks for this!
Just bought a motor coach and just found y’all! The noise reduction hacks on the entry door are EVERYTHING! Thank you!!!! I sewed an envelope of the non slip pad for the microwave tray to leave it in place. Also I use a dollar store knee pad in the gardening section to make two things 1) a pad between the glass shower doors and 2) pad between the wall and the barn door. Also, I hinged the wood covers under the dining benches (couldn’t believe that wasn’t already done). Hope these help someone as much at the entry door tricks!❤️ Edit: would a realtor lock box be a good idea
Hi Izzy and MJ! These are all great hack lists! They would for sure help me. I like Mj s glass holder in the bedroom. I love that noise protecter for the door in the Rv. I know that is loud when going down the road. The door of our rental Rv did that. We thought it was going to pop open. But never did. Thank god! I love the key hiding thing too. We are always forgetting our keys. These are all great ti have! Thank you for doing this video.
You can get a roll of reflective bubble pack insulation for less than $30 and if you cover you bedroom windows with it you bedroom will stay cooler and darker. I also like to put pool noodles on any guy lines and the bottom corners of slides to keep people from running into them.
Good idea's I do the Microwave tray one. I put a towel under the stove grate it rattles. My entry door is quiet. It took several tries to silence the TV 3m Tape finally got it tight. I have really big night stands love them.
Thanks for the tips! We have a pen-type flashlight that we're always digging for in the junk drawer! It has a magnetic handle so I just stuck it to the stove vent! 👍 We're currently house hunting, and living in our RV, so we've had to come up with lots of hacks too! One simple, but really helpful one, was to put push lights from Dollar Tree on the inside of the wardrobe doors. I have a small set of plastic drawers in my wardrobe, and the ceiling lights just don't hit the right spot to see inside. Those push lights are pretty bright, and they come with adhesive strips to attach them! I also have our cats' litter box in the kennel under our bed (I removed the cage door), and a push light stuck to the underside of the bed lift board, lights that area up so I can see what I'm scooping! 💩 LOL!!
I also wrap the micro plate in a towel but stick it back in the microwave with bread and chips for travel. I keep all liquid supplies in large square clear plastic containers with out the lids (think shoe boxes with tall sides purchased to fit my cabinets). No spill worries and I can slide them out to grab anything I need.
The oil pan plug freaks me out..... I went to lowes or Home Depot masonry department and got a plastic mortar tub for catching the oil. Is heavy duty large and does a great job. When done I drain off into 5 gallon plastic buckets for recycling. Thanks for the discount code.... Just picked up a new DutchStar so we need some new pads
We have a rubber mat on a cabinet in the RV that is just the right size to hold a speaker and the air fryer and the ice maker. My friend was surprised when we were driving on some rough roads and she was sitting across from them and they never moved
Love the ideas, especially the lights. Just ordered a set which I hope we get before our next trip on Sunday. A nice nightlight with a little bit of glam!
Just found your channel. Great video. We aren't full timers yet; hubby retires in December. I never thought about storing bread and such in the microwave, great idea.
I used to wrap and remove my microbe plate but now I wedge a piece of pool noodle in my microwave to keep the glass plate in place. It’s faster and more efficient than wrapping, removing and storing the plate
I need to get one of those car caddies for my wife. I put a section of pool noodle between the wall and nightstand on our canyon star. Also, our microwave turntable no longer rattles with Liquid Springs.
The Instapot is a greast travel item, even if not in an RV. We have taken it on roadtrips for the same reason. I also gained a few ideas if I get a RV.
We have a fifth wheel but I thought it made sense to take microwave plate out and I store it in my chairs. Lift the lid slide plate in and no more worry. Did I mention we have a rear kitchen and I love it but everything sure needs to be secured. Loved your hacks, thanks for always thoughtful and helpful content.
When I was driving RV back from FL. The microwave rattled horribly. Now it doesn't thanks to wrapping the trays in towels. Still other rattles in the RV. To get around hearing any of those. I bought some noise-canceling headsets. Just got them will see how it works out here next month. Good hacks.
I like the Fumoto valves but I like the ValvoMax system better. With the Fumoto, i know highly unlikely but i just always felt like a stick or road debris might hit it just right & open the valve. The ValvoMax is a ball valve system. Just personal preference tho. Good video !
Izzy, on my 2014 Baystar which I bought new I found a complete set of keys zip tied above the propane tank. Don't know if Newmar or the dealer put them there. You might check if you have a set there. Just an FYI. Ron
Kept a mag box stuck to the inside the spare tire \wheelvthat was mounted on the back of my '87 S10 Chevy Blazer for years. 4 wheeling, trips to FL, never fell off. ...Until the day it did. Still miss that key. 😞
You can take the glass in the microwave and turn it upside down. It usually has a lip. We've done that for years and the rattle is dramatically reduced. We've even put stuff on top to weight it down.
I have a question? I went to tiny home living in a travel trailer that has two slide outs, do you recommend putting extra supports under the slide outs, as I have permanently setup my home to a septic system and cement slab. Thank you Donna from Michigan 🥰
I will try the screen door hack thank you. I leave both my instant pot and air fryer on the counter when I travel. They don’t move at all even with some pretty hard breaking I’ve had to do from dummies on the freeway.
Hi Izzy; watching your video on 10 easy hacks. Can you tell me on the weather tape you used what was the brand new & size of, Iowa’s in Home Depot & the choices they have are way too many. Thank you Izzy

MJ put a couple of sticky velcro strips on the bottom of your bedside holder and you don't have to remember to take it down when driving.

Paper towel hack: take one or two bungy cords, stick through the paper towel, and attach to your outdoor table or picnic table.

Great list of hacks. We put a length of hard density foam on top of the microwave plate vertically to ensure the plate stays in place.

Yes we do that too! We’ve learned the hard way many times when we first started years ago. 😂
I keep our beach towels in the microwave to keep it quiet.
My pj's go inn the oven to keep it quiet which my grandkids found hilarious :)

i like the microwave food storage idea for bread.
Don't do it. If you store your trailer after a wkd of camping and forget about your bread or potatoes...ugh...moldy food.

We use pieces of pool noodle with slits cut into them to keep our microwave tray from rattling.
Oh I forgot to say I’m going to see about getting a few those. They’ll come in handy. Thank you again Izzy and MJ!
I use an empty paper towel roll, cut down to size so it nice and tight for my microwave plate. You can also use a pool noodle.

The microwave, use pool noodles. Cut 3 of them to length from the glass plate to the top. Make sure its snug.
Those bottles of liquids under the counter could cause a spill disaster sitting them in a storage tote would catch any potential spills.
The door rattle is the WORST. Thank you. I am going to try your tips : )))

💩 LOL!!

It’s the best!
Thanks for sharing Roy. 😁
Love these simple and highly useful/effective hacks!
Thanks!
Great hacks!! Going to use the door hacks.
I have a question? I went to tiny home living in a travel trailer that has two slide outs, do you recommend putting extra supports under the slide outs, as I have permanently setup my home to a septic system and cement slab. Thank you Donna from Michigan 🥰
It won’t hurt
I will try the screen door hack thank you. I leave both my instant pot and air fryer on the counter when I travel. They don’t move at all even with some pretty hard breaking I’ve had to do from dummies on the freeway.
Awesome.
@@EndlessRVing Do you have a link or name of the screen door spacer?
Great hints…we are NEW to RVing. Our house is for sale and we are going to retire and travel ❤️ 30 foot Keystone.
Good luck!
@@EndlessRVing thank you. We are excited and scared out of our minds. We live near Tobermory Ontario Canada……..let’s the adventure begin
Microwave I use a foam egg create, no rattle and glass is safe

@@EndlessRVing got that- i just believe that it’s overdone and less “truthful “ looking .. plus he doesn’t need to look cool… he is!
@@brucemontgomery8136 it has nothing to do with looking cool. Lol He has eye sensitivity to light. People give him a hard time and they don’t understand that’s it’s a necessity. 😁
