Looks fantastic Andy - great sculpt, that’s simple and effective, and easy to paint for a solid look. Great Old World context as ever - easily some of the very best on YT. Thanks for sharing!
Reiksguard don't exist yet in the old world in the current setting. So they can be knights of sigmars blood or another red coloured order. Basically they can function in any state, easier to justify in any themed empire list too.
This scheme looks great. As an alternative could you use a version of the scheme you do for Black Templars on Empire Knights? I feel like Empire should be gritty compared to Bretonnians and I always love how that dark armour comes out (and it does work with colours beside black.)
Great videos keep the old world stuff coming. Highlands Miniatures is updating his Knights files next month on his patreon! (Probably to be updated the horses to his new style)
Have you seen the Mordian Glory videos about going to Old World tournaments with Empire? He goes very heavy on state troops. Not saying its optimal but he seems to make it work to a decent extent.
Nice video as always! Yea, there are some old school models I would love to have but not at eBay prices. I'm currently making a mounted Repanse de Lyonesse using some leftover parts. I used arms and banner from the Novitiates Kill Team, the torso and head from the Immolator flame tank, and the legs and shield from the Knights of the Realm. I removed the hand from one of the lances and positioned it as seen in some of the pictures I saw online. The only issues were the gap between the torso and legs and creating the gorget to cover the SoB air hoses.
The units that have done best in my Empire army are regular knights, demigryph knights and militia. Greatsword is okay, but as you say they don't perform as well as in 8th edition.
@@MediocreHobbies Yes, which costs nothing and I've certainly had a blast with the dice, but if you have enough, I've run with 7 wide and when they get chagged, you run Stand & Shoot with Multiple Shots (2), meaning that they throw 14 random things and if the dice gods are on your side you've reduced the attacker's unit enough for your Militia to be useful. All of this is based on you getting good dice rolls and your opponent not having a very good Army save or ward save. But against regular infantry they are very good, I even had an Empire Knight down with them.
That’s got me thinking, I used to pick up the old metal models when ever I saw them on table top sales ( before eBay ) I had to order a batch of plastic horses for them, now where’s the box.
Reasonably pliced models? I'm there! Since you made that lovely unicorn lady the other day I've been really tempted to kitbash a sororitas on a horse as a knight.
Excellent paint job, model looks positively amazing. What throws me off about it is the sculpt itself, the armor is too close to the legs of the horse, it's only a tiny nit pick I know, but if that horse was at a full gallop, the armor would interfere with movement. Maybe I'm just being nit picky because of my love of history and historical accuracy, which shouldn't apply in our fun fantasy games I suppose.
I got some Highland Miniatures knights, bought pre-printed etc from a different group than your sponsors, but I felt they were a little too small, at first glance, compared to my old plastics and metal knights. Maybe I should put some together and make a proper judgement. But I've 20 Reiksguard foot knights to prep and paint first so another time for the Highland stuff I think.
It's a medevil knight, it's great that you highlight minitures like these but trying to link them to Geedubs models is just trying to put a target on their backs when in reality the minitures work with any fantasy setting wargame.
It's what I'll use them for though, obviously they work for any game but there's no point in me making a video talking about a game I've never played. I don't highlight creators that are copying GW IP and therefore at risk of being stopped, these guys are cool though.
@@MediocreHobbies it’s looking good I count like 8 dragon princes , lion chariots just everything. My side mobs of bone and dead flesh a great bat dragon vampire knights and many werewolves. We probably will put together four six foot tables.
It’s twice in the video and in the description, I’m working with the company that prints them, not who designs them but there’s still credit given, don’t worry
Remember folks, the only time that you 'have to' use GW models in a GW game is in a GW controlled environment (store, tournament, etc); as I understand it, this is very much the minority of played GW games. ANY other time and ANY other place, you're free to use whatever you want ☺👍
I'm using highland minis rather than copies of Warhammer brand Warhammer. I originally got them to play OPR but no one has complained yet. I think some warhammer players hate when you do that. Edit: oh, lol, I thought you were talking about recasts or whatever youd call them if they were 3d printed. I've got the same Knights.
I don’t see any reason to feel pressured to buy specifically GW models. There are so many nice alternatives now and we shouldn’t feel limited to Gw. Paint and play whatever models if anything it just makes games more interesting
This is the whole reason I got into 3D modeling and mini making myself! If you can't get it Make it!
Cheers Cian!

Thanks so much, glad you're enjoying the Old World stuff!

Yeah that's true, I keep forgetting the timeline thing!
@@MediocreHobbies it's why I've got twelve on the shelf and a mad scramble to get some knights panther painted instead!

I agree 100%.
Sometimes, a simple paint job is the best! Looks real nice. Hope your Empire get a nice buff with the Arcane Journal, it is needed!
🤞🤞
Great video, thanks. I like the fact that I could use these models in my Empire army and my historical Italian Renaissance army.
Yeah they're generic enough to work for a ton of games out there!
I LOVE the old world content. Keep it up if thats what you are finding the passion to make!!!
Cheers for that pal. I will.
So happy to see you got your Empire Knights! I remember asking about those a while back, so happy to see this Vid!
Glad you finally got to see them.
Nice looking model, and great job!
Thanks so much!
I ordered some 3D prints of Empire Knights the other day, so thanks for the inspiration to paint mine!
Oh good timing! Get 'em done!
Great videos keep the old world stuff coming. Highlands Miniatures is updating his Knights files next month on his patreon! (Probably to be updated the horses to his new style)
Oh interesting, will check them out!
Have you seen the Mordian Glory videos about going to Old World tournaments with Empire? He goes very heavy on state troops. Not saying its optimal but he seems to make it work to a decent extent.
I have not but I will now. Thanks for the head up.
99% of my Wood Elf army is 3D printed thru friends or Etsy purchases and I am happy. The miniatures look better than most of the GW stock miniatures.
That’s cool!
love the old world content, keep it coming!
So much more to come, don’t worry!
Keep the old world content coming!
You got it!
Looking forward to seeing the whole unit completed. Keep it up man
Cheers pal. Me to.
Love your old world content - thanks for getting out so much of it!
Glad to hear you’re enjoying it!
This is a big issue for TOW. Even when the 9 core factions become available it's the easiest IP to find alternative options for.
Yeah it’s tough not to go elsewhere
Looks great, aways excited to see old world videos from you.
Sweet, because there's so many more coming!

Oh I like the idea

Militia??? Really.

Great video as always. The only critique is the neck of the horse. It looks like it has barding straps but not full leather covering the neck.
Hmmm I’m fairly sure it’s a cover but I mite be wrong.
We are so deep into the Old World Andy, in the thick of it!
Right in the middle!
That’s got me thinking, I used to pick up the old metal models when ever I saw them on table top sales ( before eBay ) I had to order a batch of plastic horses for them, now where’s the box.
Oh definitely have a hunt for them!
Nice model and paint, got some ideas for me, 20 same knights waiting for paint
I cant wait when u starting Kislev hussars!
No excuses for you now :D Yeah hopefully I'll get around to them soon!
That looks very similar to the original empire knights model except for the big plumes on their helmets. Really striking colour scheme.
Yeah probably would have been too close to the original then! Thanks man!
Keep bringing the Old World!
You got it!
Beautiful. Now for the Riekland state troops ! ;) lol
Hahah ye sir.
Reasonably pliced models? I'm there!
Since you made that lovely unicorn lady the other day I've been really tempted to kitbash a sororitas on a horse as a knight.
Oh please do that!!!! I need to see what it would look like!

That’s a fair point but I do believe there was indeed horses with even more armour.
Why are the legs and neck different colours?
The neck is a full leather cover.
absolutely checking out your sponsor right now!
Cheers man, glad you like them!
I agree with you.
But I am switched to OPR/ Frostgrave so I would actually have time to play
That makes sence.

Anytime pal.
Skeletons are done now for a huge battle of age of fantasy against my friends massive high elf army from bygone days .
Oh sweet! That will be a lot of fun, hope it goes well!

My first thought when I seen the thumbnail was that you had 3D printed Volland's Venerators for your Dogs of War army 😮
Not yet...
I am much more tired of Space Marines than I am of Old World. Please continue!
Haha fair! I shall continue!
3d printer go BRRRRRT
Yup
I'm fairly certain 3D printing for Old World is being actively encouraged by GW isn't it? 😆 Awesome video as always, love the fantasy content lately
I wouldn’t quite say that. But it does feel that way.
Why do you not shout out the company that designs the models - Highland Miniatures?
It’s twice in the video and in the description, I’m working with the company that prints them, not who designs them but there’s still credit given, don’t worry

Totally agree, there’s so many agnostic games and 3D files out there, the choices are endless!
Please sir I want some more
Haha The Old world vids will never end!
👍
:)
I stopped giving GW money due to them not caring about their own IP/lore and having nothing in stock.
Cool
Can we send you things? Just because?
That depends what you're thinking about sending :D
Problem I have with 3d is it’s so brittle and doesn’t really look good
Old resin and cheap printers. The new stuff is insane. And very sturdy.
For the algorithm
Cheers man!
Only really watch the old world content, fallen out of love with 40k and never liked AOS
That’s fair! Luckily lots more old world to come here!
Honestly I’d probably unsub if you stopped doing Old world as it’s all I’m interested in, I can always ignore the boring AOS and 40k stuff tho 😅
Hahaha fair!
