I saw Blue Oyster Cult summer 2018 and those older gentlemen didn’t miss a beat. It was a fairly small venue and I was lucky to be at front and center stage. Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom played and sang with surgical precision; making everything sound as good or better than the studio versions.

This band was a cheap ticket way back. No big names wanted to do the same gig cause Buck blew em off the stage. Worst warm up band I saw was Aerosmith warming up the Guess Who, 2nd worst was Metallica warming up Trower and Tull in LA Collisium. I know I was there. when they played this song Buck would put in those pregnant pauses, you could hear a pin drop, fans begging for the next note and he let us have it. Like an air strike.

That’s it, all right. More distortion, though. You did an excellent rendition, it will make learning far more easier.
I am 60, grew up to Blue Oyster Cult, the Eagles, Bad Company, plus much, much more let me tell you! And, I’ve been playing guitar since 1980, currently left with an Epiphone electric SG.
This track, plus E.T.I., Godzilla, Dominance And Submission (closing out lead), Fallen Angel, and Take Me Away are awesome ones, too.
The ultimate BOC track is the album (long) version to “Shooting Shark”, a song loaded with synthesizers. The guitar riffs after the saxophone are phenomenal.
I’ve read that it is a love song that has heartbreak. Three times he gave her a chance to come back, “three times (he’s) seen the Shooting Shark”, there’s no fourth time, “there’s nothing left to say”.
I love songs like that. Originality, long versions. Bad Company came out with a song titled “Electric Land”,; the guitar/keyboard-work gives me an other-worldly feeling.

Great vid, thanks man! One of my all time fave songs. First time seeing BOC was at Pine Knob (north of Detroit) in 1983... Humble Pie opened. Blew my 18 year old mind! Cheers!!

Early 90s they had a free concert series in downtown Orlando, Church Street Station, So I said who? Peter Framton, Arlo Guthrie, Kansas, walk around with a beer get some eats, free. Arlo was great and funny, Frampton just killed it.
Do you feel like we do?

Thank you so much for sharing this is one of the songs I've always wanted to put on my list to play. My drummer Jason Murray is related to Buck Dahmer. He resides now near holiday in New Port Richey area South Florida. I hope to meet him one day soon.

Brilliant, thank you. I've wanted to play this song for years, and never actually say down to learn it until now. This video shows just what you need, and explains it well. Nicely done. Not seen you before. A well-earned like and subcribe here, and will come back to see you for more of the same! (John in the UK)

Thank you so much for this! So nice to see BOC getting some well-deserved attention. Long shot here, but... Is there a chance that you can ever get around to dissecting the solos for the live versions of either Astronomy or There Came the Last Days of May? Such great material, yet practically undocumented as far as RUclips is concerned.
