If it was $50, I bet more people would buy it and even parents would buy it for their musically interested kids.
Unfortunately it's literally just the expensive things that are always being bought nowadays. Especially with Inflation on the way. People are out here still buying $1,000+ iPhones, ipads, TVs, Clothing, etc. Plus, for $50.. This thing would have to have degraded quality
So any producer/dj has had tech like this on their phone or laptop for the past 15 years. Its a little gimmicky but honestly I think this will be REALLY popular with people that play music while riding their bike or outside at a party - for the general public I think its just making everyone aware of whats possible. I'd totally love to queue up a drop in a song when I'm cycling and approaching a group of slower cyclists in front of me. Today I have to time my speed exactly to when the big break comes in so its timed for when I overtake them on the road up a hill. With the stem I could kill the bass and loop a section and then make it all come in at the right moment. Awesome. So maybe this will be really great for SoulCycle workout instructors.
This is an interesting product. This is giving me all of the gen1 vibes. It’s a dope concept but is super cheaply made. I hope that they make a nicer version with an app like was said in the video. I don’t think you said, but can you save what you do to a song? I know you can edit on the fly but can you save it so the next time you listen the track sounds the same way? Great honest review! As a DJ I say this is a cool toy but not worth $200. Kanye’s fans will shell out the money though lol. He could put poo on a stick and they would call him a genius and buy it! 😂🤣
Why isn't it worth $200. Would your opinion be different if Bieber released it? Just be thankful that a brother invented it and let's celebrate his music n invention. Remember that saying if you don't have anything nice to say........
I love that you reviewed this. I am not buying anything from Ye, especially not for $200, but I was intrigued to see what this was all about. I can’t say I’m impressed in the slightest. I had the Rio, the first MP3 player, which was expensive maybe $500 at the time. I could put my whole MJB album on it, plus a few tracks, it had more controls on it than this. Then I had a Creative MP3 player, which I was just explaining to my kids why I miss it. I could cut, loop, and repeat all my favorite parts of different songs. I don’t know all the technical terms but everything I saw this player do here, my purple Creative MP3 player could do. I bought it for around $120, when Apple’s IPod had hit the market and everyone started getting one, and it was only available in white. This Stem player is the ugliest shade of taupe. It’s like the underwear they claim are flesh colored.
It's an amazing product, I just don't see myself using it for a long time, plus the fear that a better product (maybe even for cheaper) may come out as he makes it popular (like many other trends he was apart of)
I love the minimalism with the stemplayer. You go back to enjoy just the music, no endless possibilities what to listen to once you made you downloaded an album or a song. Its refreshing in this times.
It's not endless its limited.. to the tracks you pick and even if you do get it to play.. theres no way you can get any use of it.. than just use it as flashy toy.
I think it is an interesting gadget, but I guess it's definitely for a niche market. Because as a non music producer, I can't see uses for it outside of it being a thing to play with then sit down and maybe remember like 6 months later that you have it
So I seen a producer review this and he love it ! He Uploaded a Drake track and remix the hell out of it And I think DJs really would love this as well . That being said great concept but definitely it’s for a particular demographic . If I had the time and if this was my niche , I would invest in it

Me personally, I feel it's a gimmick because in a way, it's Ye's way of selling his Donda 2 album and making sure he "profits" off it. Just think about it. It only has 8 GB of storage and Ye does not have Donda 2 available to stream/buy on other platforms at the moment. 8 GB is not a lot at all and there's no telling how many songs he has on the album and how long they are following the quality the songs were produced in. They probably take up a good chunk of the 8 GB so to speak and he probably has the Stem Player set to where they can never be deleted out of it. Ppl probably can't even download the songs off it and archive them to listen on other devices as well in case something happens to the Stem Player. He is forcing us to literally pay $200 just to listen to Donda 2 but as a "bonus," the consumer gets a media playing device that let's him/her/them become a freelance DJ overnight, lol 😂🤣
I’ve been wondering this too? ^ like can you play any song off your phone off the fly and use your phone to switch tracks? And does it take a while to process the stems and then play it or does it do everything rite away ?
I found the answer. So unfortunately you can’t play music off your phone. You got to hook up the stem player to your computer and download the songs that you want into it. And then play it through there.
I really wanna buy it, but not for $200. Like $50-$100 would have been good, cause it looks like a prize you get at school for box tops or something like that

Yeah that’s literally the only reason why I wanna get one is just to isolate vocals of artists I like. But she said the speaker itself isn’t that good so I probably won’t get one
This must have some software from iZotope RX8. It just has to, there's no other way it can get you four stems out of one .mp3, plus taking into account one of them is always the percussion instruments.
