Been there. The Festival was screwed hard by a pretty bad thunderstorm as you might know. This was the last set of the early cancelled festival and like everyone was there listening to Billy Talent. Oh Jesus i've never seen anything like this. Best Concert i ever attended.
They saved it. I remember Chili Peppers played before and it was a bit messy. Billy Talent was great fun!

That little solo during "Devil on my Shoulder" is fucking orgasmic. Billy Talent's sound is the best in the world, it's so unique, catchy and incredible, I love it.
Ugh. Why did they highlight Jon when it was clearly Ian playing the solo there, I mean he played along on his bass but...? Or at least why not both? Seemed so weird

Well, on Spotify, it says that the city in which Billy Talent is listened to the most is Hamburg.
On their Afraid of Heights tour, they also said the Hamburg crowd was the best.
I was there and it was truly amazing.
Whenever Ben stopped singing and held the mic into the crowd, where on normal concerts you hear some half-assed unclear performance by the crowd, in Hamburg you didn't really notice the difference, as the entire crowd was singing as loud as they could the entire time anyways.
And since most people knew all the lyrics it actually sounded pretty good.
Compared to the Italian crowd ? I'd go with any crowd after the Litfiba and System of a down concerts that people were just filming the show with their phones,dead as fuck

im pretty knowleged on guitar players and styles but ive yet to find anyone that plays like ian theres something about incorporating chords and picking into one...and his jazz type chords ...i find him honestly one of the best...any other players like that

They really saved Rock am Ring 2016 for me!
There was a huge thunderstorm one day in which 71 people got hurt. The festival was interrupted for half a day and finally the last day was cancelled. I remember Billy Talent should initially play earlier but they got a later slot because of the chaos and it was by far the best concert I've been to on RaR 2016.
What you see in the video is a crowd who knows that this is the last act of the festival because the next day was announced to be cancelled... Everyone released their last energy.

why it is always the same songs live, yes they're great songs but for sure its all the hits plus a little bit more, but it would be nice to hear for exemple: living in the shadows, lies, cut the curtains, pins & needles, coward in cowardice, perfect world, sudden mouvements, the dead cant testify, hanging by a thread, dead silence. All the band that i check on youtube are like that, i didnt even clicked on the video and i know 90% of the songs that will be in it.
Unfortunately, it's what the crowd wants. Before the albums come out or even right when they're released, the bands listen to how the crowd reacts to each song. If there's loud applause and people singing along then they will most likely keep.
Also Radio Singles are a big influencer what they'll play.

the day before there was a bad storm with lightning and thunder and a lot of people got hurt and the festival was cancelled right after Billy Talent played so it was a really bad weekend for everyone there

Aaron is suffering from MS and he is currently recovering so they had the drummer from alexis on fire step in (sorry I keep forgetting his name)
