Hey folks, I was just struggling with installing the valves, and I realized that warming and stretching out the Valve Retainer Ring would help. Just hold the ring between your palms for 15-30 seconds to warm it, then grasp each side of the ring and pull apart to stretch it gently - you'll be able to feel it give slightly. Then it will pop right over the valve just as you see in this video ;)
I have had my sea eagle 330 for about a year and just took it for a solo 2-day kayak trip on the Delaware River. It is a highly versatile boat, tracks well, carries a nice amount of gear and is very easy to set up and take down. We live in New York City and can store it in our closet. To be able to do all that at this price (we got the upgraded seats) is amazing. We really appreciate this company and the quality of their boats.
@@sundiverjl I have a Jack Russel Terrier that goes with me. So far it's been great. He rides on the bow and jumps out to go swimming and I help in in back in with the handle/leash on its life jacket. I also had a Pitbull /greatdane mix run down the stairs and try to jump in the boat. It was hanging on the side of the kayak in the river. No punctures. I did get a small puncture when I rubbed the folded kayak on a screen door. Fixed it with the patch. I'll put a towel over it nexttime.
ParanoidPixel Hi ParanoidPixel, congratulation and thank you for your Sea Eagle purchase. Please remember that the retainer rings are designed to be tight as this will prevent them from falling off and getting lost (a sure way to ruin a planned day on the water). We also looked into having them pre installed from our factory but our trial runs revealed that this caused damage to the valves during shipping. We thank you again and truly value your feedback. We will continue to look into ways to both improve on our products and customer experience.
@@Maudetm I wish I had a video with the spoon method because it is not working for me. Do not use a screwdriver because I already broke one ring. Argh!
Inflated my new 370 in the living room tonight and I am excited to get it on the water tomorrow. I do echo all the other comments about the retainer rings. I do not expect Sea Eagle to change anything in manufacturing, but they should change the video and the printed instruction manual to acknowledge that getting them on is not so simple. It is only a one time operation, but the very first to be done. Having such a hard time on the initial operation - that the video covers in a second - does not inspire confidence in the rest of the product. I was relieved when I read the comments here to find that I was not he only one having trouble. Also picked up good tips here - lacking a zip tie I warmed the rings between my hands and tied a bit of string in a loop through the ring, pulling it out when done. This made the operation much simpler. All that should be in the video and printed instructions. This is a fix that Sea Eagle can make at almost no cost. However, the inflated kayak does look great and sturdy.
I purchased a Sea-Eagle 370 a few weeks ago. I've never owned a kayak so I don't have a real comparison of a hard shell kayak. I will say that I've used it in a few lakes and it performs really well. I also used it on a river and ran over numerous rocks. I've had no issues with leaks. All I know is that I used to sit on the bank and now I'm in the water, fishing, and having a blast. If you want an easy way to get out on the water and start having some fun, I would recommend a Sea-Eagle.
I love my SE-370! I have used it about 35 times on lakes and slow rivers. The foot pump just cracked, but I duct taped it. It's comfortable and like the seats and paddle. I can use it in fairly shallow water. My Hobie needs at least a couple of feet.
Absolutely our pleasure Kathie. Thanks for watching. We hope you'll consider subscribing to Sea Eagle Boats RUclips Channel for more informative videos to come!
YOUR BOATS ARE NUMBER #1. WEIGHT CAPACITY, 3 YEAR WARRANTY, 180 DAY NO RISK. BEEN IN BUSINESS OVER 40 YEARS. I AM BUYING A SEA EAGLE 370 PRO THIS WEEK AS MY NUMBER ONE CHOICE FOR INFLATABLES. YOU ARE KAYAK ROCK STARS.

Great video, I just received my 370 and inflated it with ease. The Pro seat backs however were a very different story. It took me nearly two hours (and several 4 letter words)to continually inflate and deflate the backs trying to re-align everything to fit properly. I finally worked it in but I wished I could have spent that time in the water. I just hope now that it fits properly I can deflate it for my next use and have a better inflation experience next time. I'm putting it in the water tonight.
Our apologies for the inconvenience. Often the internal seat bladders shift around during shipping. Once reset like you have, it shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for watching! We hope you subscribed to our channel.
Great introduction video. Other than having a heck of a time getting the retainer rings on, assembly and use went well. One problem I have, being a large person I guess(235#), is that no matter where I position the seat, that the bow raises. This makes paddling and vision difficult. Is there some way to counter this problem?
Yes, Jim we're sorry about the slight difficulty with your retainer rings. They are designed as a one time initial set up assembly step and attach snugly and securely so you won't lose them or be at risk of them falling off somewhere. In reference to countering your weight. Similar to a balancing scale, a combination of sitting closer to center and/or offsetting your weight with a counter balance (cooler, backpack, etc...) will help. Try taking a friend along on a paddle and see how that works.
Please put the rings on before shipping. I heated the retainer rings with a hairdryer for a couple of seconds, it was very difficult to get the first one on. Otherwise, I love my Sport!
Hi, how to know whether the floor is over inflated or under inflated because there is no inflation monitor? Also, what will happen if my Sea Eagle 330's floor is over inflated?
+Sayedul Huda Chowdhury, with the included foot pump you just inflate it until firm. Over inflation is quite noticeable but hard to achieve because it would require so much volume. If your hull looks abnormal as in like a round balloon then it is way over inflated. The I-beam floor gives it strength and maintains shape. You would have to more than double the normal volume to break the I-beams loose thus resulting in a balloon shape with no I-beam supports.
Easiest way to put the retainer rings is to take a thin insulated piece of wire and slide it through the ring then hold the ring down as you pull the wire arround the valve. It helps if you have another person help you hold it at least in one spot with their thumb as you pull the wire. When it snaps on simply pull the wire out and you are done.
Just took our new #SeaEagle 330 Pro out of the packaging and noticed one of the skegs is bent. Should I be concerned? I can't take it out on the water to test anytime soon (still snowing here). Can you please advise.
Hi Henry, the skegs are molded plastic. If you warm them up with a hairdryer they will return to their molded form. Or you can flip the hull upside down in the sun and that will have the same result. You can always call our tech support dept if you have any questions. 1-800-748-8066
My 370 kayak bends in the middle even judt after inflation. Do I need a stronger psi inflation? The inflation monitor shows not completely inflated, but the 12v battery pump doesn't seem to have enough psi.
The only complaint I have is the deluxe seats. I would upgrade to the deluxe seats. I weigh 180 and I don't feel like I have enough support. When the seats get wet, they slide. Other than that, I can't complain.
Use a ziptie to help put the retainer rings on. I just looped it around end that goes over last and pulled the last bit of the ring down and on. Ziptie slips right out after.
Hi Kathie, please see page 5-6 of these instructions ► www.seaeagle.com/img/InstructionalPDF/2020%20Sport%20Kayaks.pdf. The material of brand new out-of-the-box Sport Kayaks is just that - brand new. As a result, the kayak material has never been stretched. Because of such, you only need to inflate the kayak until firm. The key is not to over-inflate. The inflation gauge/monitor helps to prevent that. Once the material is overstretched it remains overstretched.
Hi, Costco sells a model 365. Sea Eagle website only introduces the 330 and 370. The specs of Costco 365 look really similar to that of 370. Could you verify whether they are the same or different? Thanks!
Same, however, the warranty and money back guarantee is something only we offer when purchasing directly from SeaEagle.com Thanks for watching! We hope you subscribed to our channel.
Retainer rings need to be heated to stretch over the valve. (I broke two retainer rings while trying to attach them to the valves using force and pliers.) After calling Sea Eagle for help, I microwave-heated some water in a cup and inserted the retainer ring into the hot water. In no time, the heated retainer ring became pliable enough so that I could stretch it with my fingers around the valve. Using this method, I was able to attach all the five remaining rings without any problems. The Sea Eagle is a quality product. Too bad this quick fix isn't in their instructions.
YES! This worked great. Soak each in hot water then attach using your fingers only.. No need to use a pliers or other tool than might break the retainer ring.
I am assembling the 365 that I just had delivered. Is there a specific set of instructions for that model? Looks like we have some valves that are not indicated in this video/
I just got mine yesterday. I was able to pull the retainer rings on with only a little difficulty, although one snapped as I was stretching it. The bottom chamber and left chamber valves screwed on easily and maintained air. The right chamber stopped screwing in about halfway in and I tried to force it in, but it wouldn't go any further. It filled air easily, but did not maintain its inflation pressure. Everything else seemed to work fine, so we'll see if I can fix the right chamber issue, otherwise I wouldn't trust it for more than 15 minutes.
I broke 2 of the retainer rings trying to get them on, so I removed the others and just store the valves in a bag with the kayak when not using. As suggested, put them on before shipping. No one wants to deal with a nuisance like that when your kayak arrives. It’s a time waster. You want to get on the water!

Put the rings on before shipping! Such a waste of time! I’m sure someone who has done this several times like the guy in the vid can do it with no prob, but they are ridiculously tight. Def do it at home before you think you’re in for a quick set up on the first go, because that part is so frustrating!
It can be a little frustrating but the key is to take your time and remember this only has to be done once per valve. The tether is to prevent lost and if they go on easy they would fall off easy.
