This is one of the granddaddies of beat-em-ups, and I'm so thankful I got to enjoy it when I was young. LOVED Two Crude. Didn't know it was a sequel to Bad Dudes. Remember beating it at a local comic book store in my teens. Also the WWE tag team The New Day has t shirts that have a logo similar to that of the Bad Dudes arcade logo.
FYI @patman the BLUE soda can for Japan could more likely represent Pocari Sweat, which is much more popular than Pepsi there. Thanks for the fun videos as always!
One of the first few games I played in the arcades back in the 80s, and one of my personal favorite NES games too. @@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I found out who he is. His name is Frank Cirocco. He's done work for Marvel among other works. If you look up his artwork you'll see what I mean
Thank you also for mentioning the movie Running Scared. Juts watched it. Buddy cop movie. That was awesome. One joke after the other, good action, filmed between freezing cold Chicago and warm Florida Keys with all the ladies in bikinis. Cannot get more 80-ish than this. 😎
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries Really underrated movie. I love 80s action flicks. How could I not know of this one? Only thanks to PatmanQC mention the movie I now could enjoy it.
I grew up with the C64 version (connected to a screen who was capable only of displaying colours in shades of green, like a giant Game Boy), but the original Arcade version was one of my favourite games of all time and the reason why I am in love with Data East productions nowadays! I picked up a Data East Arcade Collection on Evercade just because of it (and Tumblepop also).
I used to play this in a old pizza shop in Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh Pa. Along with this cabinet at the same pizza shop also had at one time or another Shinobi,Mortal Kombat,Black Tiger,TMNT AND PINS ....PINBOT,TAXI, WHIRLWIND.... oh the good old days😊😊😊😊
The music in the NES port is a LOT more lively than the Arcade original. As for the conversion, it was done by developer Sakata SAS, in which they also did the NES version of Robocop, also published by Data East. Sakata SAS also developed the Super Famicom port of the Neo Geo game, Sengoku.
Another fine video! It's a shame the movie didn't happen, as I always felt there are few classic arcade games that could translate as well into a campy low-budget flick! I ordered Bad Dudes for the C64, but it got delayed for over 6 (maybe 8?) months. When it finally arrived, I'd completely forgotten I'd ordered it, so it was a pretty awesome surprise.
I think the blue cans in the japanese version of the game look a lot more like cans of Pocari Sweat than Pepsi. Also fantastic and informative vid as always!!
Excellent as always 😊 also, 24:45 it says "Paul Owens" in Japanese on the side of the truck. I'm sure one of the developers or something for that version
The good old days of playing games in the 80’s and early 90’s as a kid, and wanting to play a game you saw that looked cool and not knowing the name of it. LOVED Two Crude. Didn't know it was a sequel to Bad Dudes. Remember beating it at a local comic book store in my teens. Also the WWE tag team The New Day has t shirts that have a logo similar to that of the Bad Dudes arcade logo.
They had bad dudes at the local grocery store when I was a kid. . Loved this game perfect action and great music. I could clock it with one credit.
Loved this game, miss those good old days 😢.
You and me both my friend
Absolutely one of my favorites
Thanks Pat man
One of mine as well, thanks
I used to have the original arcade cab a few years back. Still worked great. Completely regret selling it.
I thought you did this game already. That's cool, though. It's one of my all-time favorites and good to see again.
I love this game!!! One of my favorites of all time!
One of mine as well, it's a classic
Only really played the NES version. It was ok for what it was, didn't even know it was an arcade port til a few years later after playing it.
It was pretty popular in the arcades around here
FYI @patman the BLUE soda can for Japan could more likely represent Pocari Sweat, which is much more popular than Pepsi there. Thanks for the fun videos as always!
Thanks for the info,I had no idea it even existed but it does look exactly like it. Thanks
Welcome man. Tastes better than it sounds!
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries
Definitely one of my favorite games, thank you for sharing 🙏
Absolutely, thanks for watching
Loved this game in the Arcade and on NES back in the 80's.
So did I, lots of fun
One of the first few games I played in the arcades back in the 80s, and one of my personal favorite NES games too.
Man for years I've been trying to find out who the illustrator that was responsible for creating a lot of the marquee and bezel artwork used for a lot of arcade cabinets, including this game.
Not really sure
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I found out who he is. His name is Frank Cirocco. He's done work for Marvel among other works. If you look up his artwork you'll see what I mean
The history of bubble bobble would be awesome 🤞 I'm restoring an arcade cab at the moment
I'm surprised Billy Crystal was so good in that movie. It's really good and since making this video it's back on myy Amazon prime playlist :-)
Tumblepop is really good as well
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries yeah, it features an awesome design and a very well balanced difficulty despite its arcade nature.
Y'know, I never knew about the charge-up punch until watching this video, heh.
Let my silly little video can also be informative
I used to play this in a old pizza shop in Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh Pa. Along with this cabinet at the same pizza shop also had at one time or another Shinobi,Mortal Kombat,Black Tiger,TMNT AND PINS ....PINBOT,TAXI,
WHIRLWIND.... oh the good old days😊😊😊😊
Those are all classic pinballs
Loved this game, played the hell out of it. It was actually pretty easy for an 8 year old. Great video as always.
It was so much fun, thanks a lot
I remember first playing this on in arcade at Walmart of all places, way back before all the Supers popped up. Classic all around.
Absolutely, it's a classic
Fun and informative as always. Patman is the real bad dude!
LOL thanks buddy
Loved this game. Fighting on top of a tractor trailer was awesome. When matrix reloaded did it over a decade later I freaked out
You know I never put that together until just now. Good call
Seems about right, could call
Another fine video! It's a shame the movie didn't happen, as I always felt there are few classic arcade games that could translate as well into a campy low-budget flick!
I ordered Bad Dudes for the C64, but it got delayed for over 6 (maybe 8?) months. When it finally arrived, I'd completely forgotten I'd ordered it, so it was a pretty awesome surprise.
Thanks a lot, it would have translated pretty well into movie form in my opinion. I never knew there was a delay on the 64 version, thanks for that
To be honest, I don't remember if the game itself was delayed or was just out of stock where I ordered it. But either way, I had a lot of fun with it.
I think the cans are blue for Pocari Sweat. It’s like a Gatorade.
Yes, never knew this existed
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries it's even got the swirl :D
Awesome video
Thanks!
I think the blue cans in the japanese version of the game look a lot more like cans of Pocari Sweat than Pepsi. Also fantastic and informative vid as always!!
i loved this arcade cabinet. remember seeing it in paris orly airport back in the days.
Very cool, what a place to see it
Another great video Patman!!
Thanks a lot
Loved the game, loved the documentary! Great work!
Thanks a ton!
An arcade favortie of mine, also the NES doesn't deserve the hate it gets. Good video 👍
I agree, thanks so much
I remember a full page magazine ad for Bad Dudes, where they boast that its available on more platforms than Double Dragon.
LOL that some boast
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries It's a hilarious one too, given that the "more versions" in question are some of the stinkers.
There was also a song called "Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja" by Lost Prophets, though no-one likes to talk about them anymore hahahah
Good call
Excellent as always 😊 also, 24:45 it says "Paul Owens" in Japanese on the side of the truck. I'm sure one of the developers or something for that version
Thanks for the info! He actually worked on the spectrum version so good call on that! Thanks
freaking great Game! One of my all time favorites!
Mine too!
The good old days of playing games in the 80’s and early 90’s as a kid, and wanting to play a game you saw that looked cool and not knowing the name of it. Happened to me with “Rush & Attack” I kept telling my mom “Russian Attack” and “Altered Beast” I kept telling her “Ultra Beast” God I was a dumb kid, good times.
Patman can you do a history of San Francisco Rush and its sequels. One of my favorite racing games that I wish would get a collection for switch. Would love to see you talk about those great racing games. Have a good one.
One of my favorite arcade games of all time
I had lots of fun with it
Good video 👍
I can't believe they have Karnov "Flipping You the Bird" in the Amstrad version. Yeah, that's easily the best version now, lol
