This has helped me so much. I was sent home after my 3inch thrombosed hemorrhoid was causing me extreme pain. She said to go home and elevate and sitz bath 5 times and day and come back in 4-6 weeks. No pain meds or anything. I’m so sad I didn’t see this earlier. Thank you for this video. Started feeling the burning/tingling Sunday afternoon, hard a dime sized hard lump by that evening, and an even larger lump Monday morning. Went to the ER that afternoon, wasted 4 hours for the PA to tell me after discussing with some other DR, they were not 100% sure it there was really a blood clot, so here is a prescription for some cream (turned out to be OTC CVS hemorrhoid cream) maybe you should go see a general surgeon about that. By some miracle my regular Dr''s office was able to get me into a general surgeon's that afternoon and was able to extract a good sized clot. I appreciate that you will provide your patients with the option of something stronger than Tylenol or Ibuprofen, because they do not even take the edge off the pain of a quarter sized thrombosed hemorrhoid.

What about going through a colonoscopy prep that will specifically cause watery stools? What if someone has a external hemorrhoid but unfortunately is also required to have a colonoscopy for their 5 year check up due to a direct parent having colon cancer. Should that person try to put off the colonoscopy due to the prep or do you have any recommendations on advice that could help keep the anal area calmed down during the prep or any specific prep more then the other?

I've had about 4-5 lanced now.. currently hoping the one I have now doesn't full blown turn into another one. (Literally googling quick fixes, every single time this happens) . The doctors don't make me wait long at all at the ER though, they freeze it with a needle, lance it and the relief is almost immediate. It usually puts me out if commission for 1 full day. After that it only gets scary if you have to have a BM lol sitz baths to keep it clean a few times a day usually and especially after using the bathroom. It's funny because the first time this ever happened I was super embarrassed but the pain was unbearable for me.. now as soon as I see it going purple n the pain is steady I just go in right away. I'm like " yup, next one" but they never do take care of the extra skin..
Thankful I just discovered your page!! I've sat here for about 45 minutes watching video after video.

Thank you Dr Chung for being so helpful with managing our hemmorhoids! I learned a lot from you and I couldn’t be more thankful that I came across your channel when I was in crazy pain due to my hemmorhoids. It really gave me solace.
Long story short, i had grade 3 hemmorhoids which got banded but in a sick twist of events (due to failed anoscopy because my dumb anus just involuntarily clenches resulting in the anoscopy falling out of my anus multiple times), my hemmorhoids became grade 4 external thrombosed hemmorhoids, a prominent anal fissure and it was the worst pain imaginable! As a result, I have a fear of having doctors probe my insides, especially my nether regions. But I will probably have my hemmorhoids removed surgically, just not in the foreseeable future.
Good news is, within a week, I was able to manage the symptoms and have it shrunk significantly from a golf-ball sized hard lump to a soft, pea-sized tissue (i’ll take it!). Since everyone’s asking here whether they could shrink it and how to help manage it, I thought I could be of help to dr Chung by dishing out some of information i gathered.
Disclaimer: i am in no means a licensed doctor. Do take my word with a grain of salt and CONSULT WITH YOUR GP BEFORE TAKING THE STEPS i list down here. I did graduate with a pharmacist degree so I know to a degree of the meds I used and how toxic it could be. I am also not paid to promote the products that I used.
    What to do:
    1. I think the most important thing is to not let your mood be swept by the inconvenience of your hemmorhoids. I read scientific journals that stated grade 4 hemmorhoids cannot shrink on their own but look at me! Just don’t sulk and try to forget about the pain by taking painkillers (i took about 1500 mg of mefenamic acid prescribed by my doctor EACH DAY to forget about the pain)
    2. Use herbal medication. Now this is controversial but I’m pretty sure this is the miracle that reduced the size of my hemmorhoids. I drank a herbal medicine called phien tze huang (my Chinese family is obsessed with this miracle drug) and it did create some side effects like sore throat and dry skin but my hemmorhoids shrunk within a day! They’re quite pricey and i definitely would consult with my GP before taking any drug other than prescribed. I know that anyone with kidney problems SHOULD NOT take this as it could cause acute kidney failure.
    3. I also kept taking flavonoid supplements because they’re known to reduce inflammation and swelling. Again, consult with your GP.
    4. Try to get some exercise, walk around, go up the stairs, anything at all to help your blood flow.
    5. Take a sitz bath 2 times a day 10 minutes each. I always add in some povidone-iodine solution into my bath. The sitz bath itself is extremely comforting too; like a warm hug so I’m addicted to it now.
    6. Always take care of your diet! I always loved vegetables so every day, i could eat at least 25 grams of fiber from one meal alone. My hemmorhoids arised because of my genetic predisposition to chronic constipation and my love for spice. Now, I eat more than just fiber and take care in chewing more, eating papaya and banana (foods that makes poop mushy). I can’t stress this enough because even if you take step 1-5 religiously, it will not succeed in the long run if you dont take care of your diet.
    What not to do:
    1. STOP STRAINING AND STRESSING MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY.
I thank dr Chung once again because i really needed an actual GOOD doctor to explain to me what’s happening to my body. Otherwise, I would’ve been depressed and hopeless.
Hope this helps a few of you who’s been looking for answers. These methods worked for me and i don’t guarantee it will work for you therefore, consult with your doctor first because that’s what I did.

Thank you for sharing your story and opinion. I also have external hemorrhoids. At first, it was big like size of a coin. But, I was able to reduce the size by drinking meds and taking care of my diet and drinking a lot of water. It was not painful now and it was not big as before. But, my problem is the fact that the hemorrhoids is still there. It is small but it does not hurts. It has been 2 weeks and it is still there. @@neilalexandermadrigal859 hi! I’m not sure how because I managed mine by reducing the size to a minimum. • @Aidenitsy
      @Aidenitsy Год назад

@@neilalexandermadrigal859 you can try doing whatever you’re doing now to manage it and see in the long run though. I had stage 2-3 hemmorhoids nearing stage 4 for about 4 years prior to my RBL and had a flare up once every couple of months but it didn’t bother me much because I chose not to think about it. I probably had hemmorhoids for WAY longer than 4 years but I really didn’t have the time to manage it well before my proper diagnosis. My eating and pooping habits were also much more improved once diagnosed because I actively took the steps to become healthier. In a way, I think hemmorhoids made me realize how unhealthy I’ve been and I’m grateful I have a much better lifestyle right now than before I was diagnosed.
I would probably speak to my doctor first before you lose your hopes though. There might be a way out. I’ve heard laser cathode method works wonders and it’s not as expensive as going under the knife with minimal recovery time. Maybe this is a question doctor Chung could answer too!
I wish you full recovery and hope you find options more synchronized with your needs and capabilities. Good luck!

My tip is to change your toileting habits. Have a poop last thing at night. Sleeping will allow the swollen area to calm and by the time you wake up, things will be much much better.
Don’t poop and then jump into the car to go to work! The swelling will take time to go as you are sitting in the effected area.
    Cold water can also help.

Thank you very much for your helpful information. I just want to ask about the correlation between hemorroid and anal fissure. Let take my situation as an example, I've had both. The first time I found my pile is 10 years ago, then 6 years later I was diagnosed with anal fissure, and now both of them are getting worse. The pile is getting bigger and more protruded. Therefor, I want to ask whether the hemorroid is the primary cause and it leads to anal narrowing, irritation of the sphincter muscle, making the muscle more contracted and finally anal fissure formation, or vice versa. In addition to this, when both of them happen at the same time, which one will be treated first or depend on that the more severe one will be corrected first then the lesser severe one? Best regards.

Dr. Chung- you are the best. I wish you were my physician. Your video describes my problem. Since I can't see a specialist for weeks, I may have to resort to a hospital emergency room for incision of large grade 4 hemorrhoids that are awful. What questions should I ask the physican to make sure that no long term damage is done by the procedure. Should he/she make very small incisions, or even limit the number and size of incisions even at the cost of not draining all the hemorrhoids. Would this "incomplete incision" approach make the surgery easier and still provide me with some relief? And would incision surgery have any negative effects on performing a future hemorrhoidectomy down the road. Thank you.

This is great information! I thought the problem was clots in the veins not letting hemorrhoids drain but in reality, the blood and water is trapped under the skin where it isn’t supposed to be in the first place. What I don’t understand is why this keeps happening to me a few times per year. The first time it ever happened was because of damage I did from constipation. That was years ago and I take 500mg magnesium oxide to prevent that from happening. Any sort of mild pushing or lots of heavy lifting will usually result in another clot. Maybe I need that THD surgery? I had a banding procedure done which solved my internal hemorrhoid problem back when I did the original damage. I just need to find someone that can actually help me! Thanks.

I'm someone for whom getting down in a bathtub is a HIGHLY risky move and I won't be trying it. If you don't like the toilet hats then I'm not sure what else to do. Currently I use the "gentle wash" function on my Toto S500e washlet and that seems to offer a nice warm wash of the area.

Hi Dr I had to go to the doctor today because of one of these haemorrhoids and the doctor tried to push it back in super hard so painful. He then said go home to try and keep pushing it in but I can’t do it as it hurts so much. He then said if it’s still there in a few days come back and he will cut it and drain it. Is he right in trying to push it back up?

Nobody mentions this, but the reason for having hemorrhoids is the weakening of the veins' walls and there is nothing one can do about it. It is mostly an aging or degenerative condition that probably one third of the population develops. Yes, constipation and spicy food can trigger it but people need to look out for the root cause - which is nothing but a vein insufficiency.

Hello, I have a question: I had external hemorrhoids a few years ago, and each time my doctor cut them open. This happened three times consecutively over a few months time. At some point I started to worry that the cutting might weaken the skin in the area further and even end up causing more hemorrhoids or other side effects.
This was a couple of years ago and the problem since resolved itself - until yesterday, when I got another cranberry-sized bump. Is it always best to get the incisive treatment or should I wait a week or two to see if it resolves itself? Can these cuts create further damage by weakening the skin, even causing further hemorrhoids to emerge?
Thank you so much for taking all this time with these videos, they are really helpful and appreciated!

Believe I have one now on an existing grade IV, started about two weeks ago.. the pain is varying. I feel like exercising might help the clot go quicker due to better circulation, but the 'chaffing' of walking could aggravate it. Also should one avoid situations where the pain is increased somewhat? So sitting is difficult right now due to the pressure.. but it does mean blood is being pumped around to my feet and back.. whereas if I lay down to avoid the pain the blood isn't circulating and may slow the healing process?? Would you recommend tolerating a little pain for the healing gains?? Thanks for another great video!
