Nobody will ever truly know what it was like for us who were incredibly hyped for this game before it's release. Back in those days. You can confidently be hyped of a game and majority of the games would not disappoint. I miss those glory days of gaming.
FR bro :( Even that new Infinite trailer didn't do it for me... Bungie & this game were THE SHITTT I was literally struggling to decide to buy a Playstation or Xbox when this was coming up & this game's trailers sold me, best decision ever, good times.
Yup. They actually released fucking finished, too. Not half broken, not with micro transactions and shitty business practises, but finished and looking better than what you saw in pre-release gameplay. Infinite runs poorly and has content that was there in 2001’s original Halo back when multiplayer was just an afterthought. Modern gaming’s a fucking joke.
Man the elites were something else in this game. You go through Halo 2 and 3 seeing how they humanise and make them feel relatable, and then Reach rips you back to reality. The covenant portrayal was insane.
Yup, and I think that's why Reach is an essential part of the story (despite what some fanboys might say). You don't fully understand the brutality of the Covenant until Reach, and that makes Halo 2 and 3, when the Elites ally with humanity and defeat the Covenant together, so much more satisfying and cathartic to see.
@@dud5606 for some reason in this cutscene you hear on the radio that winter contingency is declared but carter later declares it at the end of the next mission lol
Here we are almost 10 years later, and the Covenant cruiser in the distance always gets me. It was so damn cinematic. But the part I always liked about this was that elite at the end. I loved how Reach made the Covenant actually feel alien and an actual threat to humanity.
Honestly, what a legendary trailer. it's not long, in depth, or chaotic, but somehow did exactly what it needed to do. I was truly hyped for this game and it did not disappoint. Still playing in 22. Thanks Bungie, it was a hell of a journey.
Imo the trailers were way more epic than the actual campaign we got. The most epic battle happens in Tip of the Spear, and it's a 20 second cutscene lol
A lot is different from the final product. Aside from the texture differences on carters face, this version seems to take place on Reach during the Covenant assault, not before, Colonel Holland is nowhere to be found and what Jorge said, "Didn't think anyone survived Pegasi sir." is rather telling, as it implies Noble Six is part of the beta company Spartans and miraculously survived their suicide assault. I think the originally wanted Noble Six to be a real character instead of what the final Product was. Makes me wonder what happened in development, because this version seems a hell of a lot more in line with the book.
MS14JG-2 Don't know if it is too late now but. Tom, the original noble six, was supposed to be in the game, not as the playable character however. And six, was on Beta team. Him and Kat were pulled off before operation torpedo
Yeah, I feel like the storyline itself was such a missed opportunity for this game. It was still fun as ever to play through, but it came off so weak in terms of storytelling in places. As you said, it looks like they started off with a more interesting and well-developed plot, but something changed and it's sad we'll never know what. I was really hoping to see what had caused that big-ass lightning explosion...
Quincy I'd say that if Bungie was known for doing that, but both Halo 2 and 3's announcement trailers were almost exactly the same as the event they depicted in-game. Just read the original post here, the final game's scenario was entirely different.
PikachuEatsSoap that’s like saying the first time I ever had sex will be the best sex I will ever have in my life just cause it was my first. Nahhhh man. It is an amazing game and the Best But we would have Modern Warfare 2 if never had MW1
its sucks that the opening cutscene of the game had to modified from this trailer to fit the chronology of the story. Jun's line at the end, "You picked a hell of a day to join up" as they fly towards the plasma is awesome.
Yeah, this version of the intro cinematic just feels better. The dialoque is quick & concise. Feels just right. The in-game cutscene dialoque wasn't bad but they became a little too chatty to be a badass military intro.
The best part of this was when the helicopters lifted off, the music score was perfect and gets better when Kat announced Noble Team was ready for combat insertion and seeing that CCS-Class Battlecruiser fire a Plasma Torpedo at the surface of Reach most likely obliterating an entire city. That scene is very memorable when comparing to my own real life combat experiences and also imagining what my combat insertions would look like with nuclear weapons being deployed and watching an entire city being obliterated....truly terrifying. Still gives me shivers till this day and I even served as a Marine in the USMC. That part brings back so many memories of my combat deployments to the ME when I went through my own combat insertions. +Renan Obscura You got the thing. Spartan IVs are looking like japanese power ranger style soldiers. Those S-IIIs are looking massive and battle-hardened, what a spartan should be in fact, not a god damn teenager with long hair and skinny body (ie the S-IV girls)
fullsky97 hahaha, I thought the same thing, power rangers... Something I've always liked about Halo is it's design, specifically, the shape language of the different factions and how beautifully they contrast with each other. And all that is just gone from the 343 halos. I think 343 only cares about apealing to the younger audiences for greater profit. One only has to look at the cheap 4-5 hours campaign from halo 5, what the hell happened there? halo had alwas had a good singleplayer.
10 years...10 long years, and Reach will forever hold a special place in my heart for all the memories, joys, tears, and unforgettable moments that i've experienced this past decade.
True. Hell the enemies in 4 and 5 feels like saturday morning villains than deadly dogmatic alien species. Come on, 4's villain Didact? "an ancient evil awakens" its like a cartoon that took itself too seriously. 5's twist on cortana going crazy doesn't help either since 343i recycled one of the stories Bungie scrapped for halo 1 (originally in halo 1, Cortana was suppose to go mad with power and turn on you. But they scrapped it for obvious reasons)
Well first of all, reach's plot was interesting and emotional as ur whole squad does in the end( dont say halo 4 was emotional 343 just decided to kill of cortana) better customization, ELITE customization, better ranking system with REAL ranks(not rank 1 and so on) spartan ops is meh, I enjoy firefight more, reach mp is decent as opposed to 4's cod like mp.forge world in reach is WAYYYY better than forge island in 4. They took out falcon in 4, reach is more popular and easier for machinimas as 4 has no theater mode.
snakeboy1912 In halo 4, cortana was slowly dying and chief couldn't do anything about it. Cortana's death emotional scarred chief, causing him to find his humanity. Explain to me how that isn't emotional. Also, halo 4 did indeed have a theater mode. Sure halo reach had the best forge mode of all the halo games so far in my opinion, but one good feature about halo 4's forge was that you could duplicate objects with the touch of a button. In the older games, objects had to be manually repurchased to have duplicates, which was often a pain in the ass.
Forge island had only one good use: making relatively small arena maps. And I have to admit that halo 4's campaign wasn't all that memorable. The only memorable parts were cortana's death and the post-credit scene with the didact's speech which was fucking badass. I also agree that halo 4 should've had a multi-passenger air vehicle. That is a must-have for halo 5.
Jesus man the winter contingency theme that hits at 1:19 was an amazing drop of excitement. 10 years later and I still come back to it I’m kinda bummed this version isn’t in the final game and has a more cold and unfriendly tone rather than badass spartan military, but at the same time it’s understandable. Even Firefight was a cooperative jewel. Never really managed to get too far but it was hella fun. Love this game to death. We remember Reach with love.

It's cool how the subtle things even George's Pegasi line had callbacks to the expanded universe. His being a huge event in lore called Operation Torpedo that had a 99.9% death rate for all 300 Spartan IIIs that participated with only 2 spartan IIIs coming back home after the mission was finished.

And the soundtrack is top tier. Probably the best one of the series. And it’s finally coming to PC and Steam this year..... All I can say is thank you Bungie for making this game, and thank you 343 for bringing it to PC.
I remember waking up in the morning before school in 2009 just to watch all the game award reveals after recording them the might before. Seeing this made me so excited for 2010
This makes me sad man I wish games were like this now. Back then There was so much love for games the Stories characters the world I remember when this game was announced people lining up and camping outside gamestop to get the game before it was even released Those were the good old days man. Game developers they do it for money now they don't even focus on story or character development they just give us Half finish games with Battle passes I miss when you can just earn all the armor it's so sad it breaks my heart how games can go from this beautiful piece of art and love for the Community to just not caring about the games or the community
I almost got hyped for a games that is 13 years old lmao. Just shows how good halo was back then. It all ended with halo 5. There are no real stakes anymore and while playing infinite I kept asking myself "why on earth am I here?" and "what has this still got to do with the original trilogy?" We already ended the covenant twice, and yet we are, more or less, still fighting them. The spiritual reboot, especially in the middle of a trilogy, was a mistake.
0:53 idk why but Jun with his helmet on is just so much more threatening than without it, seeing the masked marksman of the shadows slowly reloading his rifle getting ready for another mission, each bullet going through the brain of the enemy within milliseconds of him seeing them.
IMO Halo Reach is for the Halo franchise, what Rogue One is for Star Wars: a beautiful story that connects everything we knew about our favorite heroes. As in Rouge One, I can't even look at this trailer or play the campaign without shedding a couple of tears. It's hard to begin the story knowing how it will end. Thank you Bungie for this beautiful game. Still gives me the chills 10 years after its release ❤
I'm here watching this masterpiece at the end of 2023 asking why I don't feel the same sensation for new games , we all have the same feeling that it just us growing up but let me tell you something for us gamers in the golden era that was 2007-2012 modern gaming have lose it sole the magic disappeared when gaming has became a group of corporations and industries that target only children to grab money form their hard working parents and the most killer and sad true thing is greed every big franchise is turning into a casino or a grind fest .
"Graphics in the cutscenes are the same as graphics in gameplay." I remember when someone said that when this trailer was released. The amount of detail is amazing. I was like blown away...

Halo needs to get back into having a M rating. :/ As much as I love the franchise and I do like Halo 5 the fact that they went to a T rating and removed pretty much all the blood is one thing they didnt need to change. T or M, 9 year olds will still be on it. Might as well keep it the way it is.

It didn't take long for Reach to fall. Our enemy was ruthless. Efficient. But they weren't nearly fast enough. For you had already passed the torch. And because of you, we found Halo, unlocked its secrets, shattered our enemy's resolve. Our victory - your victory - was so close... I wish you could have lived to see it. But you belong to Reach. Your body, your armor - all burned and turned to glass. Everything...except your courage. That, you gave to us. And with it, we can rebuild.
Hoping they'll release a Definitive Edition of this game on Xbox One at some point. Enhanced graphics running at 1080p/60fps, dedicated servers, all the DLC, and maybe a few upgrades to Firefight or even some brand-new Xbox One exclusive maps for Firefight and Multiplayer. I'd pay for that.

All I can say is thank you Bungie for making this game, and thank you 343 for bringing it to PC.
The music as the falcons ride off into the cloud of plasma… gave me chills then and it still does now
What a time that was to be growing up as a teenager. Blessed 🙏🏼
I was 15
the environmental textures, some lighting and dust seems better here than the actual scene. except carters face
The chills when you see the lightning reveal the carrier overhead......So hype for this game and it came out 10 years ago.....
still the best game in the halo series
Overall or by Bungie?
+Michael S better than anything 343i has put out, that's for damn sure
Lethanza Ever seen Halo 5 gameplay?
+Michael S same as halo 4 but with ads, and an ability to ground pound.
i agree
9/14 today. Remember Reach!
Reach fell on 8/30 but yes you are right the game did come out on september.
I remember waking up in the morning before school in 2009 just to watch all the game award reveals after recording them the might before. Seeing this made me so excited for 2010
8 year old me got halo reach and black ops for christmas of 2010. Great memories, Thanks mum and dad ❤
My first halo was reach.
My brother who's a long time halo fan : "You picked a helluva time to join up"
The last great Bungie game. I wish time had stood still at this point.
Bro I never realized how old Reach was until I saw it came out in 2010. I've been in love with a game for over a decade, that's wild.
Great times with Halo remember being a little kid. Being so excited watching this like 100 times. Miss those days sometimes.
The shot of the covenant ship though ..... and the lightning.... MAN!
This makes me sad man I wish games were like this now. Back then There was so much love for games the Stories characters the world I remember when this game was announced people lining up and camping outside gamestop to get the game before it was even released Those were the good old days man. Game developers they do it for money now they don't even focus on story or character development they just give us Half finish games with Battle passes I miss when you can just earn all the armor it's so sad it breaks my heart how games can go from this beautiful piece of art and love for the Community to just not caring about the games or the community
hell of an entry for one of the most badass character in the halo verse. love it
I almost got hyped for a games that is 13 years old lmao. Just shows how good halo was back then.
It all ended with halo 5. There are no real stakes anymore and while playing infinite I kept asking myself "why on earth am I here?" and "what has this still got to do with the original trilogy?"
We already ended the covenant twice, and yet we are, more or less, still fighting them. The spiritual reboot, especially in the middle of a trilogy, was a mistake.
Well this is in my recommended. I'm not disappointed because REACH IS COMING TO PC AND MCC
Halo Reach: a masterpiece. I'm just glad it's finally getting the recognition it deserves after all these years.
game still is a masterpiece whole 10 years later
That's actually a really good comparison
I'm here watching this masterpiece at the end of 2023 asking why I don't feel the same sensation for new games , we all have the same feeling that it just us growing up but let me tell you something for us gamers in the golden era that was 2007-2012 modern gaming have lose it sole the magic disappeared when gaming has became a group of corporations and industries that target only children to grab money form their hard working parents and the most killer and sad true thing is greed every big franchise is turning into a casino or a grind fest .
I feel like this intro should’ve been what we got in the game, much more adrenaline pumping with the line delivery and music cues
Alex R. Eh it ruins the art style of it,such as a mission you’re bound to fail that’s why I’m glad they didn’t it would be inappropriate
The game starts off hopeful and under control until Grafton is glassed. Then everything gets even worse once Savannah is lost and the fleet shows up
We did get that ...
coming back to this after seeing the new Halo show. how is a 10 year old trailer better than a 200 million dollar production? jesus
Who else is here because Reach is coming back tomorrow?!
Yes and now its mine in PC is really beatiful
Me and my best friend would play this all through high school. He passed away before being able to play Reach Remastered :(
14 years brothers
I love how you feel a sense of loss and hopelessness when you play this game from the beginning it’s something I haven’t seen in a game
Recuerdo el dia en que vi este trailer por primera vez. Ese día, mi vida cambió... Eso fue hace 10 años
#RememberReach
10 year this game is still my favorite halo game and my first halo game.
"Graphics in the cutscenes are the same as graphics in gameplay."
I remember when someone said that when this trailer was released. The amount of detail is amazing. I was like blown away...
@Bayu M are you alive?
I love what they changed for the official game but the subtlety of that shot with the shilluette of the covenant corvette is just perfect - makes me wish we had a similar shot in the official game
Is it bad that im watching this in 2016?
+Matthew Garver no
This trailer is amazing. I watch it every now and then
I'm here too I remember when this trailer premiered live. I was still on 3 and ODST.
I don't think so
Almost 2018 and STILL watching
I remember seeing this for the first time at a best buy. This will forever be one of the best trailers ever that I have ever seen in a VERY long time.
Spihk heart bust!? Can you use Bozeman Hotmail Recipient's Roomies Ghnavel feces to Spihk heart bust All all time mates internet Friends for People for Lady talking about Powering up a Computer at Bozeman Hotmail Recipient's house!?
I actually like the old carter more, to be honest. Seems more like an experienced commander.
Not a fan of how he looked though. But he seems the exact same otherwise.
Well hello
Even though he was a spartanlll he still should be relatively young because the choosing of spartans were still picky although much less than spartan lls
I was at the midnight release when this game came out. Truly amazing time.
I like the original opening but I think I would have preferred this version of the opening. The graphics look a little more enhanced.
I'm here now December 3, 2019 because Reach finally releases on PC!
"Commander..."
"Do you think we'll get GoTY this year, sir?"
"Halo will never die, Gorge... Only the CoD players will be missing the action."
"I've read your Bungie updates, Reach, even the parts ONI didn't want me to. I'm glad to have you as our prequel; you can leave the lone-wolf stuff behind."
"This our new game?"
"Affirmative."
"You picked a hell of a year to join up."
It took a while but I found a ten year old comment finally.
this trailer this game was everything i never thought later being older how much of a true effect its had on my life
See you soon old friend...
This masterpice commin to PC with all his brothers, cant fuckin wait.
The fact that I’m gonna play this masterpiece again on my pc is something i wish for forever!! Thank you Microsoft!!
Nearly 14 years later, and this game still looks amazing. Truly ageless
Crazy how this was almost 10 years ago, how time flys
Who’s here after Reach has finally come to MCC and PC??? The hype is realllll!
Halo needs to get back into having a M rating. :/ As much as I love the franchise and I do like Halo 5 the fact that they went to a T rating and removed pretty much all the blood is one thing they didnt need to change.
T or M, 9 year olds will still be on it. Might as well keep it the way it is.
aeminence here in the UK, every halo except the spin offs has been a 16.
Halo as a T rated game is gay asf tbh
I watched this probably 50 times before this game came out. I still remember the day it came out...
All those teraflops years later, and reach still looks better than what 343 are putting out.
lmao stfu. that aint true in the slightest. and clearly you dont know what a teraflop is
Kayhotic Games let’s assume I don’t. Please enlighten me.
@@cisco20211 a teraflop is a unit of computing speed which is equal to one million million floating-point operations per second. it has nothing to do with graphical shit.
Kayhotic Games And where are the teraflops coming from?
@@cisco20211 The fact he hasn't replied know you rekt him lmao
I wish Bungie was still good at making games.
I like to come back every year to watch this trailer. Brings back so many memories ♥️
It’s 12 today.
🎉
Happy anniversary Halo reach❤
It didn't take long for Reach to fall. Our enemy was ruthless. Efficient. But they weren't nearly fast enough. For you had already passed the torch. And because of you, we found Halo, unlocked its secrets, shattered our enemy's resolve. Our victory - your victory - was so close... I wish you could have lived to see it. But you belong to Reach. Your body, your armor - all burned and turned to glass. Everything...except your courage. That, you gave to us. And with it, we can rebuild.
watching in 2019 and this trailer still gives me goosebumps same as when I was like 10/11 years old
Who’s here in 2019 for the PC launch?
I am spartan
FEET FIRST INTO HELL BOYS LAUNCH IN T MINUS 3 HOURS
Me
Hoping they'll release a Definitive Edition of this game on Xbox One at some point. Enhanced graphics running at 1080p/60fps, dedicated servers, all the DLC, and maybe a few upgrades to Firefight or even some brand-new Xbox One exclusive maps for Firefight and Multiplayer. I'd pay for that.
And maybe some bonus prequel mission where Spartan B312 fights against the Insurrectionists with his SPI armor.
At least you'll get 4K and 60 FPS
Here we are
What an awesome looking game!
I sure hope the characters have a happy ending
Sadly they didn’t
For anyone watching this and who love Halo Reach, play the Mythic Overhaul mod for this game. It’s a pristine fan modification that adds new guns, enemies, and overall gameplay. It’s like having a new familiar experience. This is coming from a long time fan of this game(PC only).
ok thanks
2:05
The music... is just... epic!
