- We recently had the chance to test out that new 2019 Ram Limited with the Hemi 5.7-liter v-8 engine mated to the new New generation of TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmissions! This truck sure sound great under hard acceleration!
The brawny 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 combines the muscle of 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque - in a smooth, broad power band that avoids the hesitation and peakiness of turbocharged engines - with performance-enhancing and fuel-saving technologies that include variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation. Every 2019 Ram 1500 is equipped with a fully electronic TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission with a wide spread of gear ratios that keeps engine rpm in the right range for the task - whether putting in a full day of off-road work or highway cruising.

Those are some nice wheels but damn those are some low profile tires for a truck..
They ride good with them..Back in 2002 people said the same with the 275/55/20 ich tires they had,1st truck with 20 inch wheels..And yet no issues...They have other tire options if you need it for mud/dirt etc..
It is the luxury trim I don't think anybody would go to extremes

My 2019 Ram longhorn has an axle locker with 22"s with air ride sitting on Toyo open County at3 305/45/22..

If tht truck would have had some a/t tires it would have done all tht with ease
Why would AT tires be better on black top then a street tire? I limited slip or the locking rear end would help the truck do it with ease.

it does
Actually no. Apparently this is the open differential with the Brake Limited Diff (aka an open diff, computer controlling brakes) to simulate an LSD
It did pretty good for having Low profile street tires !!
Do you have the rear locking axle button?
I assume this particular truck has the anti-spin diff or limited slip diff, whichever you prefer to call it, because it was transferring power between the two wheels but they weren't locked like a locker. I know the 5th Gen Ram's come with the option of the anti-spin diff or a locker depending on how it's ordered from the dealer or individual.
Which differential is in this truck and what is the gear ratio? Ram uses three different differentials; a Conventional Diff, an Anti-spin Diff, and the push button locker.

They call it an "E-Locker", and this VIN didn't have it equipped. Available on any trim, as far as I'm aware.
It shouldn't but it does. This is the ultra luxury model they haven't made the off road vesion yet

Good testing. Rear locker would fix it any struggles it has, even a less ridged frame would improve things.

I think it's the open diff and the abs traction is kicking in. My LSD on my limited doesn't struggle that bad.
The OP said it wasn’t optioned with either and had the 3.21 gear which doesn’t come with the LS or locker. I bought the 3.92 for towing and locker

You can still get the regular cab in 2019, however it is only offered in the classic body style.

Coil springs (ram) do better off road than leaf springs (Ford)
@@samsonreynolds3728 its still a straight axle with restrictive articulation due to sway bar. the perform the same leafsprings can aticulate too with double hinge shackles. what is true is coil springs tend to get spongy when loaded so you have to add links and panhard bars which take away from articulation which make it the same as a leaf only leafs have double the life span(usually 300,000 plus miles where coils on trucks front or rear tend to sag at under 200 k.
@@samsonreynolds3728 and a lot of trucks ran coils in the rear in the 60s and they wear found to be inferior on a truck by all manufactures when loaded heavy. you can use them on expeditions,suburbans,durangos, etc. but something that hauls 2k in the bed is asking for trouble. no benifitt only sacrifice for running couls on a pickup.
@@nathonsmithson3024 all serious off road vehicles use coils with a solid axle. You can also easily swap a different rate of coil spring to accommodate for heavy loads as well as air bag option. If towing/hauling is your main concern why not get a 3/4 ton? The 2019 ram 5.7 has a higher towing capacity than the f150 5.0 10spd. which is attest to the suspension and gear options.
Nice it did really well. I think GM's g80 eaton locker still wins though

There is one on 24inch rims with 35x12.50 tires that look good. It's not "rap videoed" out. Just clean. This one also has the adjustable suspension all the way up

For off road It needs 35's tires if you gonna do this type of stuff. I got the same truck but with 20 inch rim and 35 inch tires, I hate thin tires if you hit a potholes or else you gonna bust them
this is a very nice truck.
For the price I’ve expected it to have a rear locker. It has too much trouble climbing/diagonal test. It’s going to look really nice in the snows not being able to pull itself out.

All of the weak automotive brands of Europe combined with the weakest American brand will continue to struggle...struggle along just like this truck did on a dry high traction surface, diagonal incline with no load in the bed or attached to it.

You messed up when you ordered this truck. This must not have the anti spin rat differential. Both rear tires spin 100% after they detect a fraction of a slip and continue spinning. Sucks the limited doesn’t just come with it. The Laramie gets it with a lot of packages but the limited only Gets it if you add the option itself . $445 i believe. Here in MN you mine as well throw the truck in the garbage if it doesn’t have the anti spin for the winter

I'm not sure whether FCA or Diamler-Chrysler programmed the BLD on these things, but it works well regardless.

This is a 2 foot control. Easy on the throttle and hover the brake. It wouldnt have looked so struggling. Ive done this with my 05 silverado on my land. getting onto my road. Tell of a twist. Then again, c channel and flex baby. I always get traction. on the rear.
Even the tundra did better and it's the oldest in its class! Take some notes from Toyota, Chrysler!

@@maxchevelle9334 this is how limited slips have worked for over 50 years. the 4x4 auto is nice but this was a new feature in 1/2 ton trucks 20 years ago. im not bashing the truck. im just saying all other trucks with limited slip would perform this badly. a locked rearend via permanent,air,or electronic wouldnt eaven pause climbing at an angle like this.
@@maxchevelle9334 its performing as it should. if it locked any faster it wouldn't handle well. my exp. locks to fast. it tire scrubs all the time and you have to leave it in 4x4 auto even in the rain or it will spin around on you in a heart beat. but it will spin all four if you get wheel slip at all . crosing a ditch or otherwise.

without some printed info on your presentation, its impossible to understand what modes do what for the average user....just saying.
there is no special mode! if you check at the bottom of the screen you can see if it's 2wd, 4x4...
@@CarQuestion I apologize, I was watching on an Iphone out in the sun and the white letters were completely washed out and basically not readable. Phone also chopped off the bottom of the screen. My bad!
