It's really a great hack with a singular atmosphere to it. Watching the playthrough I thought that it'd be great if someone made sort of a "Metromall" kind of hack. You'd be a kid lost in an abandoned gigantic mall looking for upgrades and navigating it fighting sentient merchandises the likes of which you encounter in the fourside department store in earthbound. you'd have to gear up for a fight against a mother boiler final boss that powers the whole mall and after defeating it you'd get out in an escape sequence.
23:42, in case anyone's curious. I think that part of the dream has to do with vulnerability and fear, which is why the HUD also becomes completely useless.
I’d imagine that SA-X’s counterpart in such an idea if it ever was created would be called simply Jun. Jun would be, in summation, the lingering remnants of Asmodeus’s influence over Junko’s dreamscapes.
It's easily better the original is rough around the edges. Between this Rogue Dawn, Over the Moon, and Incursion there are now 4 hacks that are vastly superior to the original. There's also a pseudo remake using the emulator Mesen called Metroid HD that is quite impressive. And lastly there's a whole new remake in a modern engine called Metroid Planets that I would say is the single best fan game in the series despite AM2R being a thing. Also this particular hack has an SNES sequel called Super Junkoid. Check them all out and you won't regret it.
Am only a couple minutes in & this looks amazing already! The only thing I wish they'd added was a text box that pops up telling us the name of each new item as she collects them & what it does. Final boss also looks way too easy. It should occasionally shoot at you straight forward too. Escape sequence looks far too easy too. Should reduce the amount of time given a bit, by at LEAST 200-300.
@@skins4thewin I remember it being a pain in the ass although perhaps I'm thinking of a different hack but I seem to recall it not being easy. Remember the controls in Nestroid are fairly stiff and a little unresponsive. I'm also very good at the game as I've beaten a lot of Metroid hacks and the original so I'm certainly no noob.
@@skins4thewin It's a hack of Metroid on the NES so the controls are derivative of that. The original Metroid is a product of it's time and is not very refined. It's fine enough and competent for back in the day but any game made like that today would be slammed for how it controls.
10/10 my only issue with this is why does Junko have to be naked at one point?!! XD like I know this takes place in a dream and people can be naked in thier dreams but still. Sorry it caught me off guard XD.
My understanding is that she is not in Her dream, at least not entirely. It is a shared dream, and a serpent named Asmodeus more or less makes the rules, and this particular serpent is critically obsessed with Junko in a seriously unhealthy way.
Anime? Maybe she just needed to show up Samus in her undies, by taking that stuff off too. Take that Samus! Really, though, I think it's cannon to what it's based off of. Nice hack BTW.
@@theother1s220 Anime? What ever stories have a naked anime girl in fetus land? There is a chance the hacker(s) just wanted to have nudity in their hack? I can keep guessing.
Most of the music is really nice once it picks up.
Collecting an item and having the long music track start over is agony.
As you say, the songs are way better once they get going.
@@holzmann8443
Makes you think about why the music in the original Metroid were very repetitive.
@@JohnnyCaseyyou know... Because the game is three decades old maybe? Just a guess
The awesomeness of Japanese game design even in the hacking scene.
I think this is unappealing.
pretty sure P.Yoshi (the hack author) is American tho
Oh the weeb obsession is strong with this one
This could easily be its own thing and it’s so cool
It has a sequel based on Super Metroid called Super Junkoid. Both are great.

The first area's song is so good! I can jam to this.
This winter atmosphere is truly remarkable! I like these trees and animation of snow❄️
The art and ambiance are incredibly impressive
the animated walls make me think of Kabuki Quantum Fighter (a NES game)
Fabulous my friend!
The music is really good
You should do a play of Sapphire & shiny kidnap the crows. It’s a Halloween hack of Ruby & Rusty save the crows
I love the running animation lol Great video
Love the music to this Hack. 😄😀
So one could say this is a “Little Nightmare”.
Clearly inspired by Yume Nikki.
I actually like this hack better than I do original Metroid on NES.

More unique and better use of Metroid assets than Super Junkoid I think.
