So many believe you need a land cannon shooting 300gr pills to take down an elk. Maybe at 500 yards or better, but this is proof that 140 grains will do it.
I’ve been tempted to use my 7mm-08 for Elk, after watching this, I feel confident. I realize this was a while ago, but congrats on that bull. I hope the young lady is still dropping big game. I’m taking my daughter on her first hunt this year.
Any time u hv to shoot it 3 times to kill it. U need to use a bigger bullet for that game. Should stick to deer or smaller with the 7mm-08 using a 150gr bullet. Should use a 162 grain bullet or bigger on elk.

This bull was first spotted at just over 250 yards. When Cynthia finally took the shot, it was under 135 yards.

The 4 elk that have gone through my freezer over the last 4 years shot with 140s from my 7/08 disagree.

Bill Peirce many guys use 120s on elk in the 7/08. And one shot them. Bullet weight means very little over construction and placement.
