Agree with random Jedi being added, but Jedi Bob stopped being “a random Jedi” once he appeared in a show (now he’s a character worth selling as a named character, thus profitable to a grand extent)
That could be done SO easily. 4 generic Jedi, 2 Battle Droids, and a Super Battle Droid. Add some terrain features, maybe a droideka. Boom. Battle of Geonosis Battle Pack.

I like the idea of random jedi being added. Its one of the reasons the old republic jedi shuttle is so cool. But I also feel like there are plenty of named jedi that have yet to be put in a set that are like c or d-list that would be cool as well. Like tera sinube or imma gun di
it's the intersection of an issue that starwars and lego share, which is the desire to put a name to every face. the potential of bionicle suffered when they switched to only producing masks in the colors they would be in sets. Chima lost out on properly capturing the massive creative demographic of furries when they made their face prints too specific to characters. star wars feels the need to tell every story about every character, and thus crams audience creativity out of its world. most of lego's constraction themes fail because the faces are too specific to a character. in most categories, lego is as much of a creativity driven toy as it has ever been. in many categories, it's BETTER than it's ever been. a higher frequency of smaller parts have allowed for more freedom to create detail, the deluge of new studs-not-on-top bricks and the use of mixel joints has allowed for building in literally any direction, and improvement after improvement is made to the building experience every year. but the stories are too tightly wound around the sets. there needs to be stories where some slack is left in the lore, and characters who exist as an interface between a world and it's audience. Once you name every character, you've taken away the gaps that allow a world to be as big as a person's imagination.
I don't see too much of an issue, he was a lazy filler that became a meme and showed up in the meme show. I am happy to aquire him even if it isnt the og, got it day one
I'm sorry. Glub Crappo is so fucking funny. My friends and I lost our minds thinking of Glup Shitto and Glub Crappo being star wars aliens together. Glub Crappo is my new favorite guy ever
1:56 you knew I was going to swoop in to set the record straight here 🤣 Ki-Adi Mundi, Plo Koon, Even Piell, and many other PT Jedi were quite well established before appearing in AOTC. Aayla Secura was specifically included *because* George had seen her in John Ostrander's and Jan Duursema's Dark Horse comics, requested her not to be killed off, and then had her included in the film. The "Star Wars" (1998) comic run - which was later retitled Star Wars Republic and guided us throughout the entire Clone Wars - had an entire arc about Ki-Adi's backstory. Plo Koon featured heavily in "Jedi Council: Acts of War" and "The Stark Hyperspace War". And those are just 3 examples! Check those comics out to see what worldbuilding the Jedi received before the Filoni animation era!
Can confirm. Basically EVERY background character in the Star Wars prequels had a name and detailed backstory. As a kid I had a CD-ROM version of (essentially) Wookiepedia that included a preview of Phantom Menace before the prequels were released. There were pages of info on Aurra Sing, so I assumed she must be an important character. Turns out you saw her back in one shot during the podrace. This even caused plot holes with later movies. Anakin’s anger at being on the council but not a master? He said it had never been heard of, but my first thought was the Episode I placemats at Pizza Hut in 1999 that gave info about each council member, which said quite clearly that Ki-Adi-Mundi was still a knight! 😂
They also (briefly) had alternate builds. The first ones even had comic strips in the instruction books showing how the alternate builds could fit into new stories. Now, the sets are marketed as ones to build and display and never take apart.
1:56 To say that none of the Episode II Jedi had names at the time is very untrue, as many of them, such as Ki-Adi-Mundi or Plo Koon, had already appeared in stories surrounding the expanded universe of the Phantom Menace.
You are incorrect about the Lego Star Wars Community coming up with the name Jedi Bob. The Jedi Bob name came from the 2009 Lego Star Wars The Visual Dictionary. Otherwise, I agree with your points.
I could be having a Mandela effect, but I could have sworn he was named in a comic that came out in Lego Magazine back in the day. Like, one of those single frame with a caption type cartoons that mentioned "Jedi Bob" doing something innocuous or comical that was on brand for a LEGO minifig
I agree, but naming new figures (I am hesitant to call them characters) such as Jeniffer or Steven would bring the same issue of assigning an identity.
Personally, I always hated the name "Jedi Bob". It's so generic and it's clear it came from somebody who didn't care. I personally prefer to call him "Jedi Mac" (because his head is reused from Mac from the Lego Space theme) or Jedi Friend (to tie him to the Rebel Friend, another Lego-Exclusive character with a uniquely-coloured torso.)
I agree. I see a Star Wars Problem here. Now every Character has a back storry and every Jedi is so much more powerful in these storrys than you see in the original movies. Same goes for Vader and others. Every Jedi you dont see die is alive after order 66.
Ok I actually really appreciate your renaming of Glup Crappo! I've always thought it was a clever/funny way of referring to "generic background Star Wars character that the fans or EU authors fixated on after the fact" but the fact that it included profanity kept me from comfortably using the term. Also, I appreciate finding someone on the internet who makes interesting videos AND doesn't swear.
I mean the concept itself is certainly not a bad idea but I'm pretty sure we've all made more than just one custom Jedi, we don't need an official stranger.
@@crazydog1750There are definitely still a lot of Star Wars species that need to be implemented either for the first time or for the first time properly, such as the Duros species. A standard head is not enough for me
I think that, while not identified as such on the packaging, the Zabrak Jedi from that set was supposed to be Kao Cen Darach (from the SWTOR cinematic trailers)
I've always wanted a generic Jedi Battle pack that would be able to mix and match the legs torso and head to make a bunch of different Jedi. Edit I literally pause the video about a second before you said that in it and wrote this. 😂 I guess great minds think alike.
Don’t worry, the pacing was pretty much immaculate. I love this video, I understood it perfectly despite its… GOOD weirdness you now? It’s a tiny bit like how I talk! Like, seemingly meaningless ramblings! Tho the neurodivergence plays a part lol

a battle pack of random unnamed Jedi.
So we blame capitalism again for death of creativity

Agree. Preferably with alien Jedi with different heads, maybe even a Jedi character builder like the Hogwarts Magical Trunk

Then they gonna come up with some excuse as to why it worked in 2002 and not in modern day
The real reason old lego star wars sets felt like 'lego' came first is cuz of yellow heads
Plus they did original inspired concepts or EU material like the tue tank!
They also (briefly) had alternate builds. The first ones even had comic strips in the instruction books showing how the alternate builds could fit into new stories.
Now, the sets are marketed as ones to build and display and never take apart.
i for a long time believed lego should do some sort of unnamed jedi battlepack
1:56 To say that none of the Episode II Jedi had names at the time is very untrue, as many of them, such as Ki-Adi-Mundi or Plo Koon, had already appeared in stories surrounding the expanded universe of the Phantom Menace.

Yeah. That was more of just a play on Jedi Bob having a very basic name, not actually suggestions for their names.
Let's be real, if they did random Jedi they'd just all be boring humans with no aliens, I doubt they'd even reuse existing Star Wars alien heads
The battle pack could also be used for alien citizens
"Glub Crappo" sounds like a name George Lucas would give to a minor character. I like it.
