Dear sister Leah! You are a prophetess, those important personalities that we always had in the Israelite culture who spoke truth to power, and encouraged society to change their ways. Many times they were oppresed in their lifetimes, but became cultural icons in our history. Its a hard journey to be the one to speak the truth that noone wants to hear. But someone's gotta carry that mantle. You're a great woman. As someone who still lives in the culture, I appreciate your voice your journey and your truth. Sending you blessings and love ❤ Shel, i think it would be interesting to interview some people who still live within the culture, who are also moving towards more autonomy, and navigating the complex dynamic of self expression and choice while staying within these societies. I think it has alot of value to the audience, and can speak to alot of peoples struggles.
You cant become a " icon" if you disobey the laws laid out for us in the Torah. Autonomy is not a word applicable to tge jewish faith regarding making choices not in sync with halacha. If course we have AUTONOMY to CHOOSE how we live our lives. The whole foundation of our religion is based on " bechira" but no ones becomes an icin by choosing a level down. A level up...PERHAPS. And nobody is a prophetess, takes a very high standard of behavior and character to be one. Im sure Leah would agree.
@anonymousanonymous-qx7mv, in response, i think everyone is entitled to an opinion, but recognize that everything you just said is just that, your opinion. That awareness itself will help you expand. Many of the phrases you use indicate a very confined approach to ideas, for example "you can't" "The Laws" "disobey" "not applicable to the Jewish faith" "not in sync with" "level down" "nobody is" and finally "I'm sure Leah will agree with me" how can you possibly be sure of something highly unlikely. I dont think on this channel they are preaching to you how to live, and if the confinements and structure work for you, then fine. And of course if you have wisdom to share as opposed to dictates, I would imagine that wisdom is appreciated. And I don't mean to be offensive with this, but people with your dictatorial mindset within the community make it hard for many people. It seems easier to regurgitate ideas you were taught in elementary school than to take a step back observe the great expanse of humanity and its cultures and wisdom and then even go into our own Torah and start understanding and relearning it as a adult A great place to start would be the Mishra in Avos וְאַל תָּדִין אֶת חֲבֵרְךָ עַד שֶׁתַּגִּיעַ לִמְקוֹמוֹ,
@Listentoyoursoul9535 the only difference is, is that I'm in my 7th decade of life and not a child. I'm also not a prude or limited in any shape or form. I grew up in the community in a very open minded home and will not change an iota of what I said. I know her family and know a lot more than you ever wil... cause, I doubt you have an inkling about who she is other than off of utube and know nothing about the community she grew up in or who her parents & grandparents were. Oh and please don't introduce me pirchei avos. You know why. Because we all go through tough times. She's not the only one who had it hard. You see, we, my generation, had it REAL TOUGH...Our parents were in the camps...and you are clueless because she's already a second generation after the war. Talk about hard? You think I had cream cake every day? You think we didn't have to put up with stuff? How dare you insult my intelligence. The only difference is, WE HAD RESPECT FOR OUR PARENTS RESPECT FOR TORAH LAW and no...life was far from perfect. But we didn't take our pain to the streets. We tried to be understanding as the tears were rolling down our faces. And when we couldn't understand, we did the best we could. And guess what. We survived . And we survived with a heck of a lot more EMPATHY than any of these spoiled enlightened " oh I want autonomy" generation. We learned tolerance, discipline etc. So thanks for your lecture, but no thanks. Nobody is telling her or the others what to do as an adult. She has the choice to stand on her head and live how she pleases, but G-d help me, that gives her Zero right as a Jew to besmirch her parents WHO ARE NOT HERE TO DEFEND THEMSELVES, because her mom is not around to speak her truth, nor would she ever have to..and her father just has to grin and bear it all. In what book is that ok? Anything in Avos you can find on honoring parents, dead or alive? And exactly to which denomination do you belong?
@Listentoyoursoul9535 and btw...the Torah laws of respecting parents are not AN OPINION...THEY ARE PART OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS...and by going on the internet or writing a book ... profiting still from all this is the lowest of the low. There was a book written by CHRISTINA CRAWFORD CALLED" MOMMY DEAREST."..these kids always remind me of her. Shameless!!!
I've clicked so fast! I need some company prepping for Christmas celebrations. We have this (found) family celebration to have a biggish get together on the 23rd ❤🎉
Critical thinking can look like a fearful and lonely path. But it’s the only way to achieve emotional and spiritual freedom - Our community is still suffering from the holocausts of the centuries. Leah, you’re a courageous beacon - thank you.
at first i was confused why your hair is showing while watching this on TEECHEL TUESDAY then i realized it was streamed on Monday . :P You are such a light Leah!!
What was your husband doing? How did you find out? Did your husband know what you were doing? Were you fantasizing in fulfilling lesbian desires or engaging in lesbian activities as so many others have told us? Or did you have an affair with the janitor?
In every community...not only here. Dont try to make it out as if this community owes you more. The yetzer hara us all over and he especially target religious people who try to be disciplined.
I used to work with all men in construction. I was like a fly on the wall as they forgot I was there. Women have no idea what their husbands are up to and how the men around the cheaters support them, laugh it up, slap them on the back. I've seen a girlfriend show up at lunch and later on the wife shows up to pick up the pay check. The other guys treated him like a celebrity for this.
The environment doesn't make you sick. Its your own " perception" of tgr environment and your own inability to fit in, that causes problems. It is obvious that hundreds of thousands enjoy & prosper in it. So the environment is only a factor if your mental emotional and spiritual capacity are in sync with it. Look INWARD..NOT OUTWARD.
It does pay to turn a frown upside down in situations and use comedy to laugh at a sad situation. I’m part of a marginalized community that is what I considered the most hated note even SOME terfs in gay community has some blah with us due to that tribal sense how people have to be one way and hate on individuality despite the slogan of “be yourself “by hate crimes , murder and in some countries considered illegal to be. I made simple situations within this journey of life funny and others relate when they do finally see the light side it doesn’t seem so negative. The best compliment I ever got was “ you saved my life” So keep up with the comedy because it can make a difference and it can help heal some mental scars and it can save a life. It’s therapeutic. It’s not easy but it shows support of others.
From the Talmud Taanit 22a In the meantime, two brothers came to the marketplace. Elijah said to Rabbi Beroka: These two also have a share in the World-to-Come. Rabbi Beroka went over to the men and said to them: What is your occupation? They said to him: We are jesters, and we cheer up the depressed. Alternatively, when we see two people who have a quarrel between them, we strive to make peace.
@cultstoconsciousness High demand religions are not cults. finding healing could only be with god. independence through awareness is when you're aware of what you truly want and what's really right and true. when you run away from something you end up being attracted to anything that's the opposite of what you're coming from. you can only find your individuality by knowing that you were created for a purpose and whatever you go through in your life is your journey to bring out your best self for you and the world. I hope you can help people to truly find themselves. good luck!

Great interview! Leah is a very funny woman with a compelling story (and lots of Yiddish). Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas!
at first i was confused why your hair is showing while watching this on TEECHEL TUESDAY then i realized it was streamed on Monday . :P You are such a light Leah!!
can you explain that?
I can attest to this....many wives within the community don't know what their husbands are really upto😢
Nu?
What are they doing?
What was your husband doing?
How did you find out?
Did your husband know what you were doing?
Were you fantasizing in fulfilling lesbian desires or engaging in lesbian activities as so many others have told us?
Or did you have an affair with the janitor?

Great interview. One day I will attend Leah’s comedy show in person. ❤

"Don't put me on a pedestal"- she says it like it's easy
I'm glad you got out of that environment. You can't heal in the same environment that made you sick.

Leah ive been a chassida of yours since the beginning it was great to hear your views on yiddishkeite now,,, so youre a badchanis now!
You Leah are wonderful, can I come for Shabbas ?? Thank you for speaking , but you speak with joy , love and truth.
Better yet.
Why don't you invite her to be your guest?
Why do you ask if you can come for Shabbas?
Do you think Leah is running a Chabad House?
@@stephenfisher3721 Of course not but it would be such a fun shabbas .....she is real, funny, connected . Stephen...c'mon really??
This woman is amazing, How do you live through this and get out alive. What a traumatic existence. Thankfully she is out.
Because it isnt as crazy as she makes it sound. Thousands upon thousands enjoy the lifestyle.
I would love to go to Mexico or wherever if Leah is going but I am far too old and my skin hangs cuz I lost a lot of weight ...

How does Leah even love a father who kicked her and beat her up as a child? For me it would be a no no.
He's a wonderful man.... we were all disciplined and we are all fine. Move on.
How is your dtr? Does she see her dad. U r impressive😊
Lea we heard your story a million times. How long do you plan to go on with it? Asking for a friend
