I was in 1st Batt. back in 85 to 89. We had RIP instead of RASP. It was 3 weeks of selection and then you went to your assigned battalion. They had option 40 contracts back then but I didn't have one. I just had a regular airborne contract. I had orders after basic for the 82nd upon completion of airborne school. While at airborne school a Ranger liason came around and gave a speech and said that if anyone wanted to volunteer to come to his office on such day at such time. So a group of us went, I think it was maybe 10 or 12 of us. When we got there he gave us a little bit of info. and then watched this film of Rangers jumping in on a target and all this different high speed stuff. Then we filled out some paperwork and that was it. Well, another week and a half of jump school and then graduation day came. After the ceremony these 2 Ranger NCO's were there and hollered out, if you here your name called get your ass on that bus. 6 of us got called out of the 10 or 12 that applied in addition to all the guys who had contracts. I do know back then most of your training was in house. 3 weeks of RIP and they threw you in the snake pit. Now a days they have a really refined selection process with pre rasp then rasp. But the type of personality it takes to be SF,SOF,and Delta hasn't changed. They want someone who can play well with others, kill with no remorse, and think for himself under highly stressful situations. Also in battalion you won't have stupid nonsense choirs or extra duties like guard duty at the main gate or chow hall duty. SOF personal are strictly all business no nonsense.
I don’t know how apocryphal what I’ve heard is, but I’ve spoken to a few recent graduates. It seems like one thing they like to do is the 1-1.5 mile low crawl with a ruck on. But also they’ll do 16 hour smoke sesh days. It varies from sand snake to burpees. One guy claimed they didn’t stop the burpees all day but that sounds a little exaggerated. It’s a kick in the dck but from what I understand unless you guys screw up the highest level of smokage like that is during Cole Range. The grads I met were very normal physiques but just really solid dudes for their age character wise and were fit. But nothing absurd where you’d go damn this guys a bodybuilder. Could’ve been the kid next door.
@@therangerblueprint3040 I appreciate the feedback. Some dudes from the most recent class were talking about your channel so it’s on the come up for sure.
They switched the order because dudes would get through airborne and then just drop out of rasp. I saw that in another video and pretty much heard the same thing from my recruiter.
Also you will have days off due to SOCOM holidays that the regular army doesn't get..SOF,SF and Delta are totally different than being in a regular army unit.
Awesome video. For the swimming portion what exactly do you have to do? I’m a good swimmer but I heard rumors theres much more to it than just the meter swim. Just looking for clarity.
@@therangerblueprint3040 I will try to be there the best I can listening on my head phones I will be working. I work the second shift but I’ll be there.
Great video!
Thanks
Pretty sure I️ quit Cole Range everyday - just didn’t say it out loud 😂
Great podcast RB.
this is key
As a civilian this was incredibly applicable the corporate world. Thank you for your work and sharing this

I've heard rumors about hazing / bullying / smoking new recruits. Did you experience or witness any of that? if so, to what extent?
Its not like the old days...
Tattoo...what company were you in? I was in the S-2, at 1st Batt when you were there.
Fantastic video. I've found that it's hard to get this detailed of information about the whole process, so this was hugely appreciated!
Join the blueprint..... theres a TON more info
This is good information and what I needed! Thank you for doing this video 🤘 starting pre-RASP on tuesday next week.
Critical that you learn all that's in the blueprint asap my man........
Really informative for me I’m a senior in high school and want to go to rasp
I’m a senior in hs as well. Ship out Aug 19 w/ an option 40. Super helpful video.

Are you able to live off base during RASP?

As long as you passs the no fail tests and dont quit, you can make it. soooo many more guys can make it if they just learn how to not quit.

Wild that he did RASP before airborne. Figured that would be after OSUT.

@@willkiecana3413 o gotcha. That makes sense I guess. Appreciate it!
Yeah used to be that way 2019 or so they changed things
Can you get a guy from 3/75 on. Everyone says that 3/75 guys hate there life but idk why. Sec football right down the road is enough for me😂
Like is it not a bunch of good ole country boys?why would they choose 3/75 if they want to live in the city and do city shit
Its next to regimental headquarters, that's why
@@Malikjac14 more strict or what?
dont worry about what people say
Is the dreamsheet still a thing ? And how are batts determined.
random now
Doesn’t sound like it’s changed much whatsoever
Don't land on a fire ant hill
If it’s me vs anyone in this comment section at RASP.. you might as well just forget it. You have to kill me for it .
Wonder if it’s beneficial to take TREN while in RASP🤔
No
What’s the point of gaining muscle in rasp bro. I hear rasp isn’t even that hard if you’re not a pussy. Just pt and random smoke sessions.

@jcal9151 all you do is jump into the pool with your kit on, ditch it, and swim out like 25 meters. Super easy.
