As a fellow MX5 owner (1991 NA and 1999 NB) i enjoyed the video very much. And congratulations to the young lady for driving such a cool, well preserved icon of motoring!
Fabulous example. Hey, Alan and Rihanna, I think you may find, unless the hood has been replaced, the rear window can be zipped out and laid flat on the rear deck when the hood is folded back. This avoids folding the plastic rear window in half when the hood is folded back, which creases and fatigues it. Just a thought.
one of the best two seaters ever made .. it looks like it's time to get that underbody done and brake flexibles changed etc, it would save it for another day. they deserve to be saved but they do need to be looked after now.
Cracking little cars the MX5's. My sister has the latest version, hers is a 2020 with a 1.5 turbo engine in metallic black and it's still pretty basic but well made and feels like it will last. She loves it.
I had two of dem, great cars and they aint going down in value any time soon. i sprayed the underside with old engine oil to keep the rust at bay, enjoy your new ride and dont abuse it !.
i used to break these on a regular basis, most popular parts which sell well were , chrome speaker grills, canvas roof (mohair especially) with GLASS rear window, roll bar , leather seats with built in WORKING speakers, headlights, nardo wooden steering wheel and g/knob and numerous other parts..............
Oh god it's an MX5 never been a fan personally. They rott like crazy there not very fast there not very safe in a crash and they dont have any luxury to them at all I should know I owned one previously. Oh yeah and everyone thinks your a hair dresser when you drive it 😂 On a positive note rhiannon is very beautiful and her love for cars is awsome
@@jdmguy44 I just looked on the ncap site this shape was never crash tested the mk2.5 scored 4 stars in 02 and the latest one scored 4 stars also which granted isn’t a bad score but that’s when they are brand new. These MX5 corrode horrendously the early ones on the Chassis rails and once they rot they won’t be as strong in a crash even once cut out and repaired because it’s not longer one solid piece.
Always liked these MX5's , all the fun of MGB without the rusting and Reliablebiilty and better to drive. I would replace the flexys to the brakes with stainless steel braided lines. Rhiannon has obviously got her head screwed on.
Very nice car and a good example,❤️ I think I would give it a coat of wax oil or something better, that might not help that much but it would make me feel better about it🤣
25:38 I never get it. why do people indicate right on roundabouts and don't indicate left when they exit, instead they leave the indicator to auto-cancel effectively misleading people waiting to enter thinking they will keep going around. you might as well not indicate at all as that right indicator doesn't benefit anyone anyway (it's not like you can go any other direction on the roundabout apart from exiting which you don't bother indicating anyway). every time I see people doing that I know they are the type who do things without understanding why they do it. they do it just because.
you can actually sit in the driver`s seat on these mk 1`s , and without removing your posterior, reach BOTH clips and lower the roof with 1 hand. simples.

You have the same as me!
29 years old 👍
I was about to make the same comment

What a great car - fantastic original condition inside and out. Rhiannon, you obviously take great care of it. You must bring it to classic car shows.

Great stuff Rhiannon, Tyler and Alan, lovely example of an MX5, fair play👌👍🙏🙂
thanks pat
Rhiannon is so beautiful 😍
I’d love to go to a car show with her she’s such a lovely person and knows her cars my perfect lady 😊
how old are you bruh
ALAN, ALAN,ALAN, you didn`t drive it !!!!! the RIFLE BOLT gearbox precision HAS to be tried to be believed, seriously it`s ..............brilliant 😀😀
Never seen one so clean. Defo future classic 👌 look after it amiga ❤
Looks great from the front and the rear, mazda's not bad either
Second that
Lovely car!!😍 I helped my mate change the timing belt on Eunos with the same engine. It was a pleasure to work on! Mazdas are my favourite cars!!

All the MX-5 engines are naturally aspirated. No turbo.
That’s a stainless exhaust. Very Recently fitted too I would say
Looks pretty solid. Might be worth looking at Lanoguard to preserve it underneath
...and what about the car?
Very tidy example 👌
I had two of dem, great cars and they aint going down in value any time soon.

Couple of cans of wax oil would sort out all that loose rust...

Nearside rear wheel arch lip looks a bit rusty at 15:47 other than that looks fairly good.
That's a nice example of a mk1 mx5, I'd have the rear subframe painted to protect it and the lower arms 👍
Great little car 🚗
Seen rear suspension arms corroded through on these also
MK1 is already a classic. Oh, and the paint on the lower half is like that from the factory
Known as the Miata in America. Mazda captured British Leylands Triumph TR7 and MGB Roadster and got everything right!
43,000 miles! Lovely little car!
Nice little car,it will soon become a classic. This gear leaver knob is a bit of an eyesore though. Shame it has no air conditioning.

But Tom mate, they're FUN, FUN, FUN 😃😃😃😃😃
@@t5jerry True they are fun I will give the MX5 that. But personally I would rather have a Honda S2000 or Toyota Celica
Not safe in a crash? They always achieved good Euro NCAP crash test results.

the us version was called the Miata with left hand drive.

can certainly rot if not looked after. Mazdas in general seem to rust badly.
Nice car. Easy to do the timing belt and stuff too. Just east maintaince car
I thought my mx5 was clean, this one is the best ive seen. how much did she buy it for?
Very nice car and a good example,❤️

You must been from queensland in Australia, the only place I’ve ever seen anyone do that.
That's in incredible condition for its age, and it does look all original. It would be sacrilege to drive it on salted roads though 😞
What about the mk2’s? Will they increase as well?
How much are we talking for one like Rhinnon's Mx5 🤔
Had a 96 1.8, pretty basic, no power steering and keep fit windows. Unfortunately it was full of rust particularly at the rear of the sills

looks way nicer than my P reg mx5. mine looks all nice until you look beyond the sills its basically made of swiss cheese
still loads of rusty under that
Don’t see people’s interest in these mx5 like a poor man’s z3 not for me I’d have an xr3i convertible though
If you haven't owned or driven one you don't get it. Bullet proof mechanically and they stick to the road like a limpet. Bags of fun for cheap money.
I'd take an Mk1 Mx5 - which was a clean sheet design from the outset, over what was essentially a chopped up bastardised 3 series any day of the week.
Z3 is a poor man's MX5
