- Hey what’s going on guys it’s Ales, and today we are bringing you another cool video. This video is actually one that I’ve been wanting to do for a little bit and I finally got the chance to do it. I would also suggest doing mods like the holee and bandaid mod to reduce rattle and improve your stabs

tip: replace the stabs, lube the switches and to remove the screws easily put your finger nail under the head and screw don’t pull or use a magnetic screwdriver which you can make by yourself

I made my custom keyboard shortly before this and used the same keycaps they’re great.
I got a steal of a deal, got the gateron optical silver switches in the red version for only $30 and ordered some black hyper x pudding keycaps for $20. The contrast is amazing and for $50 which is a little more than half the price for the keyboard alone it’s great. Best switches personally overall cause its the same specs as yellows just need the activation force of regular linears which I personally find is better for avoiding accidental presses

okay thats cool i just realized you got your keycaps from hkgaming which also made your board, i thought you were gonna use hyperx but the only problem is it doesnt show your secondary controls

You should try lubing your switches and stabilizers which is the best mod you can do to make your keyboard sound better. But it takes a really long time to lube switches and stabilizers so keep that in mind.

I recommend getting the akko cherry reds or sum like that they’re very quiet i recommend lubing them as well
Those stabilizers don’t sound very lubed, usually when a company says their stabilizers are “pre lubed” they mean that the housings are lubed but not the actual bars, I would still recommend lubing the stabs because the manufacturer will try and screw you over with that

@@Daizlol same here, I'm thinking of getting reds, but the seller has blacks available which has a more thock sound but heavier. And I want light and quiet switches
@@Daizlol I recommend the Yellow Switches. The yellow switches for me sound well, feel well and are very responsive. They are kind of loud though. Reds if you want a more subtle approach.

i have the sk61 with yellows and it is an allround good keyboard. I am probably going to mod it in the future.

How are they yellow opticals? I've got the SK61 with brown gateron opticals, thinking of trying reds or yellows, maybe for whole board but definitely for shift keys etc
you might need to get durock stabilizers and hand lube them, you can try to hand lube those stabilizers and if that doesnt take away the rattle then do a Holee mod. durocks are just gonna be much higher quality stabs

Would you reccomend pudding switches for thiss? got them for my RK61 and the RGB was poor - only good with lights off and leds easily distinguishable

Get the hyperx see through ones, they cost the same as the ones he used in this video, but have more see throughness (if that word even exists)

Hey there is some keycaps from team liquid can i jst take the original keycaps off the GK61 and add new ones?
the only thing i can reccomend is finding a software to allow you to make your mic louder then your background music as well as making a script, it prevents the uhm's and stuttering.
Yeah my gk61 had the same kind of like "lego brick sound" When I put on my pbt pudding keycpas althruogh they were from a different brand
if you liked modding the keyboard then you should get into the custom keyboard community there are so many things you can do to make a keyboard that is not only more premium but the design is uniquely yours (depending on what you make it can cost a lot of money, also it takes several hours to solder and lube, which is why researching and setting priorities matters)

get xda keycaps. they made my gk61 sound so much better even wihtout foam or anything. then if you also do foam and tape mod then it sound amazing. would be better if i lubed but i really cba. still sounds fantsatic without lube and only those 3 mods

hi ik this video is pretty old and almost been over a year, but my gk61 keycaps are very wobbly and i was wondering if getting different keycaps fixed that issue for you or would I have to do a different mod to my keyboard?
check the switch stems for wobble. if present, u can mod the switch by using a switch film to stiffen it up. also box switches (has a square around the cross part of stem) allow keycaps to sit more snuggly as well
I would say get some flims for your switchs and yeah get new keycaps the keycaps that come with the board are trash
I know nothing about keycaps or changing them I’m getting this key board and I wanna change it to this but do I need to get the foam too? Or what does the foam do?
the foam makes the keyboard sound less hollow, if you were to do the mods in this video, you would need to buy the foam, or just use a cloth.
How do you take the plate out I have taken out all of the screws and it’s stuck

you sure they're not optical blues? cause I've never heard of a gk61 with mechanical switches

Cut the stabilizers and bandaid mod the stabilizers too or just normal tape also put painters tape or smt under the pcb it sounds better
