    I made and open faced mold and the glass got fused to the mold even when using kiln wash. And the glass didnt flatten out on the open side. Any suggestions?
    Do you let the kiln wash air dry or dry it in the kiln at 400 degrees Fahrenheit? Thanks for the help!

      Hi there, I am sorry you had a fusing issue. I would suggest doing a thicker coating of kiln wash. You can also try a different release agent, Graphite and Boron Nitride Aerosol Sprays work very well at preventing sticking and you can use a much thinner layer of release. As for the flattening out on the open side I think this is probably an issue with the firing schedule you are using.

    Once the water is added to the powder, how quickly does it need to be used?

      The wet mixture can be sealed and kept indefinitely. If it dries out you can simply add a little water to re-hydrate it

    Hi, thank you very much for the video. In my country (Argentina) i can't find Mold Mix 7 to buy or any similar. Do you know some homemade mix that so i can get similar results? I would appreciaty a lot. Thanks!

      hello! Unfortunately, to my knowledge there is no homemade recipe for Mold Mix 7/Mold Mix 6. You can try to purchase through Ed Hoy International, they may ship to Argentina

    This is a way to make dragonfly jewels, leaves for windows. jewelry, and much more since it is based on lost wax. Just think of casting in lost wax with brass. It is possible it seems.
    Thanks.

    I am wanting to do a casting of a couple of ceramic pieces I have make out of clay and bisque fired ceramic. Can I use Mold mix 7 directly on these to make a mold?

    • @luminarglassproductszrci4802
      @luminarglassproductszrci4802  2 года назад +1

      Hi Jet, you should not put the mold mix 7 onto the ceramic directly, it will stick (if sticking happens it can always be removed with water). You can use a mold release before applying the mold mix, we generally recommend Smooth-On Mold Release.

    I am interested in making a Hump mold for slumping. Would I be able to paint the mold mix 6 into a silicon mold and form this mold by building layers?

    • @luminarglassproductszrci4802
      @luminarglassproductszrci4802  2 года назад

      Yes! Mold Mix 7 works when directly applied to silicone, it will peel off of the silicone when it is completely dry.

    Hi how many casting are these molds good for ?

    • @luminarglassproductszrci4802
      @luminarglassproductszrci4802  4 месяца назад

      The number of castings depend on the handling of the mold, I generally get 10+ casting from a mold that is handled with care

    How many casting can You make from one mold aprox?

    • @luminarglassproductszrci4802
      @luminarglassproductszrci4802  Год назад

      If the molds are open faced with no undercuts you can use the mold until the surface begins to lose detail. If the mold is properly primed with a release agent (kiln wash, boron nitride, graphite) you can get up to 20 or more castings before detail is lost

  • @czerniana

    Is it normal that the glass becomes pretty much non-transparent during the melting? :(

    • @luminarglassproductszrci4802
      @luminarglassproductszrci4802  Год назад +1

      During melting the glass will turn an opaque orange, but once cooled clear glass will become clear again
